Whew, just put around an hour and a half into Super QuickHook. Some impressions.

Two big gameplay changes from Hook Champ. In story mode nothing chases you any more and there are now level check points. This means that levels are much much easier to finish (at least the 10 or so I have completed). In fact because of the lack of chase and the check points I believe it is impossible NOT to beat a level.

That being said there is still much work that needs to be done to perfect lines and compete for top times. It is in perfecting lines and competing with others via leaderboard that the game really shines. The lack of chase means you have more time to mess around, explore, and scout out potential great lines.

For those wanting a chase there in an avalanche mode that serves as a randomly generated, chase mode. I've poured a good 20 minutes and I can say that the game could JUST be avalanche mode and I would still probably buy it. This mode is also very difficult as I struggle to survive for even a minute most of the time. Need to finish purchasing upgrades and attack it some more.

The game moves very fluidly on 3GS. Game looks great and sounds great in that retro sort of way.

Complaints? Game needs more levels. Some of the later stages can be difficult to unlock (requiring you to beat developer scores on earlier levels in order to unlock most levels). The developer did a good job at updating Hook Champ with worth levels and other additions so I hope he continues this support.

Anyway fully recommended for all action iPhone gamers.

Tried it last night. Everytime I was killed it was by something hidden under one of my thumbs. Plays well on iPad but the iPhone interace hinders your view of the game space.

This. Though I think the ship controls better on the iPhone.

stuff about quickhook

I agree with this. Avalanche mode is really fun. Also, I'm glad it seems like they skipped having to grind to get decent equipment like at the beginning of hookchamp (a distant memory, but still, nice to get right into the action).

It says in the game itself that there's already an update with 3 new levels planned for the near future, so it doesn't seem like anybody should be concerned over lack of support.

Pix'n Rush is awesome!

Also I just got Lumines Touch Fusion and it is fantastic! I remember it got a bad reception because of the controls but I guess they got fixed? They're pretty damn solid for me.

Hopefully Q Entertainment will release new packs at some point.

Yeah I haven't played it enough to get tired of it but I imagine I might feel like it is lacking in content after a while. Is that one pack worth getting? I love Lumines for it's geeky techy look and feel, so a 'Comic' pack doesn't seem all that fitting to me.

If you're curious, here's a video of the Comic pack:

Anything Lumines is worth purchasing in my opinion ;) It's only $1.99 right? No brainer for me.

So is the Pix'n game the same as the Arkedo Pixel game on Xbox Indie games or is it a new game?

It's a new game. Very pick up and play orientated, just getting the best score in 5 minutes.

I think you unlock levels later.

Can I have the same Openfeint user on two different phones or will there be trouble if I try it?
I have an iPhone for work and an personal iPhone. Would like to play some Openfeint games on my work-phone as well on my breaks.

You can, and there's no real trouble, but I haven't seen any game (yet) where OpenFeint is doing cloud saves, so don't expect your progress to sync back and forth.

Don't know if it's been mentioned but I picked up Hector Badge of Carnage and completed it the other day, was a really well done adventure game with some nice animation and funny dialogue.

I received the mail an hour ago, according to them, it will take a while to get them all sent.
Also the game won't launch on 3G, and that's what I have, but the developper already submitted an update and it will show on appstore soon.

I think you can email the devs and ask real nicely to get it for free right now

That's alright. I am sure it will be on the store for a few weeks, I can wait till I get some cash moolah's. Got to support the (other) little guys!

Producing swag (I think I was the only independent iPhone dev at E3 with swag!) and dealing with the rest of the week's craziness nearly bankrupted me! It's worth it, the experience was a blast :)

Dudes: best crossword game?

I really like 2 Across, but it hasn't been updated in ages because the author got hired by Apple and they're generally not allowed to work on apps.

If you have an iPad as well, you might as well get the universal "Crosswords" one - works really well.

got Carcassonne a few days ago. Never played it before, but I am learning the rules and getting a little better. I can finally beat the noob bot, the servant. It's pretty fun.

Is there any word on whether the rest of the Phoenix Wright games are going to come to the platform? I just finished the first one and I'm hungering for more :/

Bit Pilot is free today.

It's sort of like Tilt to Live, but a thousand times slower and smaller. Good though, with sweet pixel art graphics and a brilliant soundtrack by Sabreplus.

Worth it for the terrible joke when you die.
More like BITS pilot

Works pretty good on iPad too.
