Loved it, beat it twice with the first time taking about a week, 1-2 hours each night, without any help as it makes the game much more fun and lasts longer. Great um... point and click :P

So when is Square Enix giving me a release date for FFT and Secret of Mana? Or even some gameplay videos. I want to know if Mana is a port of the touched up mobile phone version or not.

Tactics is out the middle of September. No idea about Mana.

Just saw the trailer.OMG!
I'm a huge fan of the genre so I'll buy it right away. I hope it is as good as it looks.

Any other point and click in the shop that are worth playing?
I already have Simon the Sorcerer 1-2, Beneath a Steel Sky, Flight of the Amazon Queen, Broken Sword and Monkey Island.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is out, only $2! Not sure whether to get it or not...I grabbed FIFA in that dollar sale a few days ago. From the reviews it sounds like it doesn't go into 2x mode on iPad if that's a concern for you, also saw one that mentioned it was laggy on a 3G.

WOW. Nailing that right now.

Gameplay is supposed to be great and an update is on the way, from what I've heard. Either way, X2 and PES are the best options for footie fans on the iDevices.

Can you post some impressions after playing for a bit?

...and I can't imagine the price is the standard considering the other prices in the world, probably just a launch sale. I saw a Konami guy on the Touch Arcade thread say he didn't expect the price either and will be talking to some people about it, I'd be surprised if it lasted too long.

ok I downloaded Pro Zombie Soccer and it won't stop crashing. It lets me watch the intro movie, kill ONE zombie then crashed on the 2nd one without fail.

BROKEN!

And its insane that the app store (and digital downloads in general) have almost no after sales service. The game looks like it will be fun, but its totally unacceptable that I pay for a game and then have no choice but to wiat for a patch before I can even play it.

It was only 59p so its not an issue (unless they never patch it) but some apps are massively more expensive and the same could be true of those too.

mandatory “did you reboot your device” question.

did you?

unfortunately reboot didn't fix it. Game looks super cool as well :(

does anyone play Deadball Specialist? As far as I'm concerned its one of my most wanted types of games, I have a real fetish for freekicks and no one as ever nailed it before until now. This is probably the pinnacle of the "flick finger to get ball to target" genre so far.

The game is broken on iphone 4 devices from what I hear. The patch is waiting on approval.

It does go 2x on iPad; you just have to change your screen orientation and it is very laggy on my 3g however playing it with just the touch control on my iPad is nice. I like it more than FIFA.

I have a 2G touch and it runs beautifully. Not sure if I like it more than X2 2010, but it's definitely more than a third the quality. It's less complex, which is a bit better on the iPhone.

Switching back and forth between Space Miner and Words with Friends might be the awesomest fucking thing ever.

It might be, if there weren't Plants Vs Zombies and Peggle to swap between :p.

What is it about this game in particular that you think makes it superior to the other kicking games out there? Controls? Graphics? Modes? Realism?

Hey, I just thought of something that would make FKF better: replays. It would be awesome if you could replay an awesome kick and bask in your own awesomeness. Totally awesome.

That sold me on it more or less (about as much I need to be sold for something that's $2). Like it more than FIFA too, although the auto defender switch is a bit jarring.

2G touch is clocked faster than the iPhone 3G, 533mhz to 400 I think. It's not the huge jump that the 3GS hardware is, but that 33% faster CPU still makes quite a difference.

very simply the other ones I've played have been poorly done. Its not so much that this is better, its just that finally someone has got it right.

the controls are good and make sense, the game is hard but fair, when you screw it up you know its your fault.

the physics feel good, the weight on the ball and the way you can manipulate it is awesome.

the modes are fun too. they could probably do more but honestly the fact someone has nailed the basics to such an extent feels like a godsend - its about damn time.

anyway I notice another free kick game has appeared on the app store charts and for all I know that could be miles better.

I see you have a rugby game out but haven't tried that, not much of a rugby fan.

Really like Flick Kick Football and even my 2 year old daughter likes to play the practice mode (no need to bend the ball). 2 thumbs up from me.
Will download the lite for this Deadball game but Flick Kick is much more visually appealing to me.

OH GOD Mr.Space!! is on sale for FREE right now and that game is INSANE!! I *LOVE* Mr.Aahh!! and Mr.Space!! is just as awesome and addictive if not more so! And the music is SO RAD!

Yeah, thanks for that. Just got mr.space.

And seriously, if any of you guys like point and click adventures, grab Hector.

Mr Space!!!! I think Mr Aahh!! Is my favorite game on the iPhone, due to it's simple quirky nature.

Also, I wish the fix for Pro Zombie Football would hurry up. It sucks buying a game that doesn't work.

Loving ESPGALUDA II, just amazing how smoothly the chaos runs on the i4. Up there with Space Invaders Infinity Gene as my favorite gaming apps at the moment.

Really curious about Chaos Rings, but $13 without a free demo to try is keeping me at bay. Any thoughts GAF?

Space Miner is a good attempt at melding Asteroids and RPG progression with quirky characters. I like it.

Thinking of buying Inotia 2 and Zenonia 2 for 16-bit ARPG thrills.

NOVA would get a purchase if it had invert aim options(it doesn't).

Going to buy Hector for sure.

Pix n Love looks great. Need some more platformer recommendations!

I love Mr.Aahh!!

I like the Nicky Boom port the best out of what I've played on the device. Earthworm Jim too, if you havent already gotten it on something else.
I think its easier for me to list platformers to avoid than ones to buy :lol

Have people here played Sword & Poker? Thing is awesome in a Plants vs Zombie kinda way. Any other puzzle/strategy games that could live up to those two? Been have a ton of fun with Defense Chronicles too actually.

All three of those titles look amazing on the 4's Retina display, detail is unbelievable, particularly how Defense Chronicles can have like 200 sprites on the screen at once at seemingly 60fps.

I was late to the Sword and Poker party but it is awesome, indeed.

The second one is a bit more polished and relies on more strategy and magic use. I love it.

Drop 7 is another incredibly awesome puzzle/strategy game. one of the favourites on Gaf and for good reason.

so what's the best diablo style ARPG on the app store? My 3rd gen touch comes in the mail on tuesday.

Dungeon Hunter is pretty good, there is a lite version to try (though the demo is really really short)

What are the chances of Square-Enix optimizing FF Tactics for the iPhone 4? I really don't like the way old games look on the new handset. Prior to getting my i4 NFS Shift and Real Racing had comparable graphics, but post RR update it's night and day difference.

Saving Private Sheep is free today! Looks cool, gonna DL it and try it out!

Edit: Oh, it looks like it's just like Tiki Totems, but with sheep instead of a totem. Oh well, it's still free!

I'm not sure whether you know, but you can request refunds fairly easily.

Thanks.

We like to think ball control, physics and presentation are key differentiators of our Flick Kick series (Football/Aussie Rules/Rugby/Field Goal), so it is good to hear we are on the right track.

Jos has let Flick Kick Rugby run as free for the last 4 days, so if you grab it before he switches it back in the next day or two you can check it out for no money down :)

Great to hear. We have a target mode in the works that may make the next update she may enjoy too.

If you are playing on iPad or iPhone 4 then the next update will have higher res graphics.

After trying out Deadball Specialist rather quickly, I think the main distinction between that and Flick Kick Football is the pace of the game. I view DS as more of a simulation that requires careful, more deliberate controlling of the football, while FKF is more of an arcade experience. DS = hardcore, FKF = casual, if you will. DS also has a steeper learning curve.

For my tastes, FKF is more instantly accessible, more fast-paced fun. I think if I put more time into DS, I'll start to appreciate its finesse, but as it is now, I'm more drawn to FKF.

I'm sorry if this has been asked and answered already, but is there any way I can upgrade to iOS4 and preserve my games' save data? IIRC, upgrading from 2 to 3 deleted everything, didn't it?

i'm having a rough time with pes. i totally take everyone's word that it's the best or near-best footie game on ipod but man is it rough to use the on-screen controller (and i rarely have problems with these) and have SUCH limited controls. surprised they didn't use the wii version as more of a base. that could be insanely fun on iphone
