I'm not a Nintendo fanboy, but I want to side with originality so I like DS (well.. not that Ninty have handled that well so far), but just looking at this:Scrow said:i must admit, as a nintendo fanboy, i'm tempted by PSP.

Brings back memories of when the ps2 came out.
naz said:Just needs a GTA: SA for PSP and it is all over for Nintendo sadly... I still love my DS
border said:I don't think GTA is possible without very serious compromises. Not much RAM, and streaming audio/textures will kill the system's battery life. So that means a very small city, and not much choice for radio stations.
Rockstar North can't (or doesn't) design their own engines either. Until somebody makes middleware for PSP, they probably won't get started. A 2005 release for GTA-PSP seems very unlikely.
Personally I very much doubt that - at least based on what I know of battery behaviour so far.
PSP has only half of the video RAM (2mb), right? I guess that wouldn't necessarily mean smaller cities, just lots and lots of repeating textures...mrklaw said:I thought it had 32MB, same as PS2 now? And I'd expect renderware to be on the case already. Having an openGL based setup, a port wouldn't take too long.

Now that EA owns Criterion, I wouldn't be so quick to assume that they will be able to make new Renderware products for competitors.

Hey I just wanted to say thanks for providing all the information in one neat and tidy package. Your thread has become an excellent source for finding out all I need for my PSP launch plans.Amir0x said:A SHITLOAD OF INFORMATION

Holy shit. I want it and the only game I'm interested in is Lumines. This is how you know Sony have got it right.
border said:Can someone also post the size-comparison pictures, showing how big it is in relation to DS, Gameboy, etc?

Is MGS Acid a launch title in the US too?

Lumines and Ridge Racers are definite purchases for me! I'm not sold on any of the other titles but I just need more info on them, that's all. I'll probably bite the bullet and do it in Febuary in anticipation for launch.
border said:Those size comparison pictures are only for screen size. I want to see how the system size compares.
border said:Wow...it looks like PSP isn't much bigger than an NGS. I was expecting a much more pronounced different. Does anyone know the exact dimensions of an NDS and a PSP? It's also cool to see that Sony is making a D-pad for adult thumbs
I wasn't considering a PSP purchase until the news about watching movies on a memory stick. That sounds pretty cool.
I don't really want to buy it at launch, but I worry that unless I do then I won't be able to get one for months and months.

border said:So the PSP is only 2 centimeters (~22mm) wider than DS? That doesn't seem right....it looks a little bigger than that.
Really? I always thought of it as the other way around myself. Err rather, I thought the DS was much bigger than the PSP, but it really isn't. I think the weight is substantial though, I don't remember where I saw those numbers.Amir0x said:A lot of people are surprised that the PSP is much smaller than they imagined.

border said:There's a pretty massive commercial advantage in holding back Renderware....it cripples less competent developers just as new generations of hardware are arriving. They are forced to spend more....and EA wins in any kind of spending war.
