The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Just finished Death Toll. It's a little bit of a drag in the beginning (the sewer section is kind of blah) but once you hit the town it's an absolute rush. And the finale at the beachhouse is just incredible. Best strategy I've found is to have all 3 guys surround the mini-gunner and watch his back while he mows down everything. We were able to take down 2 tanks before they even reached the house using this method. The director really loves to fuck you when you make the bolt to the dock, there's always a smoker or hunter waiting.

Gah, bottom of the page.

If anybody needs another player for a match, I'm in the Group chat right now.

More people should be using it >:/

Ugh, Blood Harvest on Expert is almost impossible. I did all other three chapters on Expert with some friends earlier today but Blood Harvest's finale is maddeningly hard. We got to the final Tank before the rescue vehicle once, and every attempt after it just kept getting worse.

I know I was in a bitchy, probably annoying mood during the match in your cap, largely due to it being the first total ownage of the team I was on, team never working together, and how tired I was (I didn't sleep from 6pm Tuesday till 5am Thursday). Hopefully I didn't piss you guys off too much, sorry if I did.
You didn't annoy me at all. We felt bad for you and your ping.

Just got it. Man thats a sweet feeling. She turns to look at you and BLAM.
Yeah I just got it as well, crownd indeed, felt so good :D especially since I've tried it a few times, just didn't get close enough before and was using an auto

err how do u start your own lobby?

*edit* oh u can't directly, just does it if u can't find one I guess (public games that is)
Start with "friends only" then switch preferences over to "public".

I've just found out that there's no Left 4 Dead SDK so modders won't be able to make new campaigns until it get's released :-/

Really? Wow. I annoyed myself after the game with how bitchy I was being.

Teknoman or anyone else, anyone able to FRAPS a VS mode match? A friend of mine wants to get the game and is interested in VS mode. While I'm going through it with him, a video of it in action would help display the point better. If you could (or know of some already) fraps a vs match (lv1 or lv2 of NM) and youtube it, that'd be really awesome.

so i broke weak and bought the pc version for the full $50

add me to your steam friends, i am not an asshole depending on who you ask

steam id eelobrian or Eel O'Brian (on my profile), dunno which it goes by

He is lying, you can make maps you just cant make them into a "movie" yet.

oh, you just can't string them together with the safe room "break" sequences?

that's fine, then, i'm sure within a month we'll be seeing some stuff out there

i knew about the maps, saw that TF2 one on youtube

He means you can build everything the map needs, but right now it might not work in L4D perfectly. The SDK has to be updated to support the game.

Anyone buy it for 360 and just not like it? If so, PM me and I'll take it off your hands via trade...

I know this is pathetic but come on

So did anyone try (and like) splitscreen on the 360? Is it still fun/playable?

My laptop has a hard time with recent games (7600Go) and my brother's PC is even worse (6600). Will we still have a good time playing on the 360? I have a 37" LCD, is screen size an issue? Any feedback regarding this will be appreciated

while my default reaction is pc or bust, maybe you should buy the xbox version and trade it in when your friends are sucked into the next big thing, then pick up the pc version which will in all likelyhood continue to grow for the next few years -in terms of both community and content.
This makes sense. I'm sure it's in the thread somewhere, but hell if I can find it: what notable differences are there between the 2 versions? (a link is fine)

Just a heads up about the crownd achievement. I was using the auto shottie and there was a witch in our way in the sewers, so i molotoved her while standing on the pipes you jump onto going into the sewer. She literally jumped up to join us and i shotgunned her directly into her dome and sweet jesus the crownd achievement came up, wooo!!!

Just beat Toll Booth, I love this game! Really disappointed in the amount of people using a mic on PC though. Only reason I wish I had the 360 version, every uses a mic. Other than that this game is ridiculously good.

So no feed back on this? T_T

Do the next chapters get shorter? I was surprised how much longer No Mercy was past the demo portion.

Just beat the final chapter in under an hour. It's extremely linear and a little boring. Not too blown away by this $60 purchase right now, feels more like a $30 game or a pack-in for Orange Box 2.

Splitscreen runs great on 360. I'm really surprised.

Ooh I may just jump in and buy when I return my busted GH:WT drums tomorrow. It turns out the Asian version is english and region free so I can play it on my US console! $40 Left 4 Dead here I come!

Paralleling TF2 character vids, I'm love it if Valve released some "ending" cinematics showing what each of the Survivors are doing after the apocalypse. It could be a mix of serious/funny situations. Valve needs to run with these characters, I love them!
YES!

I've always thought a blooper reel would be funny for L4D, because of the whole movie idea

Enjoy the 7 month wait :( for each minute. Let Valve do Meet the Spy, Medic, and Pyro Videos before they start left for dead.

Also any news on what else Valve is working on. Save for HL2:EP3 are they working on new content?

They're working on new content for TF2, that much is confirmed. There's no official word saying they've started on new L4D content, but I'm sure they have.

And, yeah, HL2:E3.

Aside from that, they recently added Steamworks to DoD:S. A couple months ago recently. I'm sure they're working on adding that to CS:S, as well. Which will naturally piss off the hardcore CS:S players. I look forward to it. O:

I can never find Campaign games with good ping/people with mic's, so I just end up playing Versus all day.

Not that I'm complaining: it's always a fucking blast. But I would like to see what Death Toll is all about.

Actually come to think of it GTTV said that they were working on CS2...

Maybe if they fixed some of the hitbox issues in CS:S it would hold the fans over.

I can't believe how well this game runs on my old computer. Valve will forever have my respect for developing games that are not only great but for making their minimum requirements low enough for the rest of us who can't afford upgrades as often as others.

I've only played campaign so far but I've been having a blast. Like Team Fortress 2 last year, this is my online GOTY. I can't wait to see where valve takes this game in the future with updates.

I think I remember hearing that, too, now. But I dunno. CS ain't mah thang.

I certainly welcome any and all new games from Valve, though. Especially new IPs, after Portal and L4D. And even TF2, to an extent -- kind of a complete reimagining of what Team Fortress originally was, in a way. That and TF wasn't originally a Valve property, so.

Neither was CounterStrike.
