Valve has put up a page showing the percentage of users who have earned each achievement. Lamb 2 Slaughter must be broken.

Wait a minute...

I unlocked LAMB 2 SLAUGHTER, it says I've unlocked it in the game.
But it doesn't show up on my Steam profile

I think there's a sync bug, so there's probably more people with LAMB 2 SLAUGHTER that haven't updated the steam profile.
That would explain the 0%

I just had an insane campaign at Blood Harvest on Advanced that got me Man vs. Tank, wow.

Everyone but me died, so I was in a corner of one of the top rooms meleeing constantly while reloading, and I smacked a Hunter back in the process. Then I heard the Tank music and expected massive failure, so I jumped out the window and over to the barn and went up the ladder. The Tank has to climb up, so I started to jokingly go in a pattern that would have me shoot it a few times, fall down to the ground and wait for it, then climb back up...and it ended up working, mostly.

One of the times I went down, a Smoker grabbed me and I couldn't react quickly enough so I was basically thinking Game Over, but the Tank lobbed debris at me and it actually freed me and let me get back at the Smoker. :lol

So after that, I ran into the house and managed to heal up on the roof, then I kept redoing the barn thing for awhile(on Advanced? Took a good 10 minutes :() and then it actually died. Then the rescue vehicle was coming, and it parks right outside the barn, so I made a run for it andddd got nabbed by a smoker. When I turned to shoot it, a hunter jumped on me and dashed the rest of my hopes away in one fell swipe.

Fuck.

I had a dream where I was fighting the zombie horde with Miyamoto who (was dressed as an astronaut) in my old highschool last night. I think those 80 hours of Left 4 Dead are getting to me.

Quick question regarding the Akimbo Assassin achievement, the one that requires you to complete an entire campaign using only pistols. Just to clarify, that rules out the use of pipe bombs and molotov cocktails as well right? My initial assumption was that pistols were the only guns you could use, not weapons in general.

You can use single pistol, double pistol, molatov, and pipe bomb. I think you can shoot gas cans etc. The things you CANNOT do are shoot other weapons (I think you can hold them), and shoot the mounted guns (which messes some people up).

I did that one, but I read afterward that you can use weapons that can be thrown.

Can you melee with the other weapons?

It didn't work for me when I threw 1 pipe bomb.

So I did it again and didn't even pick up another weapon and got it.

I don't know...is their melee better than pistols? (and I'm almost sure I got it with throwing molatovs and pipe bombs, but who knows...Valve's achievements are glitchy anyway on left 4 dead)

So today I replaced my nearly 3 year old 7800GTX 512mb with a GTX 260 (216 core) 898mb and all I can say is the difference in performance is Ridiculous :D L4D runs beautifully with max settings / 1600x1000, The mouse movement is lot more quick / responsive as well, Good stuff.

i understand that they constructed the game as they did for a reason, but I really wish that L4D had a coherent story to connect the different episodes. There are times when the whole world and gameplay feels kind of...empty - just you against the torrent of undead. I know that's the whole point, but still, i somehow want more...

Yeah, I actually didn't know that the campaigns weren't connected until I started the second one. They probably did it so they could have more leeway in releasing new campaigns and stuff.

I kind of like it. Most stories in games are fucking terrible, anyway. I think most of L4D's "story" is best left unsaid.

Bioshock's approach of using the environment to tell the story would probably be the best way to do the narrative in L4D. The writing on the wall is a nice touch, for example. Maybe they can add environments that have special meaning for the characters, like Louis' office building or Francis' favorite biker bar. Maybe they can add radio broadcasts to give some background to what is going on. And scenes that can tell a horrifying story all by themselves (like an incinerator at the hospital overflowing with bodies, or the bodies of a family boarded up inside a house, all with a single bullet wound to the head).

I always figured they weren't connected so they would each just be a horror archetype?

Ahahaha, so I was a Tank, and I got up to the roof, punching the Bill player (Straza) off the ledge and all that kinda crappy stuff, and I guess I then knocked 2 players off the map, so I decided that it was kind of lame for those guys to lose like that, so I helped Bill up! To punch him and incapacitate him again in a hit. But Zoey was knocked down by then too. :(

So it does work, kind of funny, the other team was angry at the knockoffs though. :lol

Versus with randoms + advanced/expert = no fun. I think I incapacitated my whole team (note: if I'm trying to shoot off a hunter, don't stand right in front of me). I thought we were doing bad, and then the other team played as the survivors, and they barely made it 10m outside the safehouse. :lol

A tank can help a survivor up?!?!

I hope they don't, it's hilarious :lol
Ditto, this isn't something that can give the Infected players much advantage anyways (aside from raising people just to knock them off the building, but you're exposing yourself to fire while pulling it off).

You can help up a survivor as any of the special types, I've tried it as others before, but only got it to go all the way w/ a Tank. It's almost like a 'mercy play' or 'taunt'.

Blocking the exit/path of levels with cars is kind of mean. He couldn't get to it until I punched a car out of the way. :lol

I think of it as "I'm not playing a story, I'm playing an experience." These four people, they don't care how it started, and they're not interested in finding a cure or anything. They're interested in finding a safe, non-zombie-ravaged place to go to. In the same instance, I think most of us would be the same.

What are you even talking about?
What I'm talking about is that you do the same thing over and over again on every stage in every campaign. You've pretty much seen everything the game has to offer strategy wise in any one campaign. The only variety seems to be the stages. Again I'm not exactly saying this makes the game broken or not fun because I always have a blast playing it with friends but I really really wish they would have put more variety into the game. I almost feel sorry for those who have the 360 version because I don't see nearly as much replay value without the edition of a heavy amount of new mods, enemies, weapons, objectives and stages. I really hope valve continues to develop this game more heavily than past games because it desperately needs the content.

Congratulations you're developing strategies to play better!!!!!!
The problem is the strategy I developed on the very first 2 stages seems to work throughout the entire game! Don't tell me you guys are seeing tons of variety in the director AI because it remains very predictable on Hard difficulty. The game is fun as hell but it's still disappointing that the game lacks any real variety or new content as you progress through the game. Even the gun sets are more limited than I anticipated. What is a zombie game without a 45. Magnum or an rpg?

Time to check yourself in
to No Mercy Hospital.

Just played through the first campaign last night on my mates 360. FUCK. ME. This is one incredible motherfucking game! Some of the most fun I've had online. But poor me I have no 360 or PC so I will be unable to play it. I should be getting a laptop fairly soon so at least I'll have that but goddamn, I was surprised by how well the game works on 360. It's the one game that's tempting me, but then there's that goddamn XBL subscription. I've been refusing to pay online charges for years, long before XBL came out. L4D could very well be the game that changes that though.

Does anyone know if there are any performance issues when running off the disc? My mate has it installed but if I pick up a 360 it'll be an Arcade.

Startup time might be shortened but it is a multiplayer game, so you'll still have to wait for everyone to load up the game even if your system does it faster.

I see L4D as Valve's new mutli-player centric series that doesn't rely on or even need a story to enjoy the game not unlike UT or TF. Half Life will always be their main story based game so concentrating on a multi-player experience with games like Team Fortress and now L4D is a great strategy to diversify their portfolio. They now have three AAA franchises HL, TF and L4D. Four if you count Portal.

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't make much of a difference. This game though... this fucking game. I still haven't even played as an infected yet!

That's awesome. Can't wait for the surge of mods. After watching Dead Set (which was brilliant btw) i am dying for someone to make a Big Brother house campaign.

I've been waiting for that Dawn of the Dead mod. They've been working on that since way before the games release. I hope to see some Resident Evil mods like the Raccoon City with mansion.

I am sure it must be in this thread somewhere, but how can I set up a dummy game so I can practice as the infected? Or even just explore the map? I played around with some of the Steam sv_cheats stuff and saw the god mode in single player which I guess would be good for exploring the maps....but not exactly what i'm looking for.

I'm really more interested in practicing controlling the hunter and his jumps. Does anyone know how to set up a versus match w/ only one person so they can dick around as infected?
