I only got to play one game of versus last night and I got stuck with one of those "yell into the mic self appointed leader/prick" types.
I got one of these guys last night, and decided they're easily more annoying than actual griefers. Yelling information everyone already knows, calling out horrible strategies, not listening to responses or better suggestions, etc.

The crazy thing is this guy kept getting incapped or killed first. He kept saying "I'm a zombie magnet - they love me for some reason." What makes morons who can barely figure out how to play think they have anything to contribute as far as leadership?

So annoying.

I think we can all at least agree that the smoker sucks for points (aka you're not going to get the tank/seemingly lower chance at being a boomer), and if you prefer those classes there's an incentive to suicide as quickly as possible rather than waiting for a good, opportune moment to use a smoker correctly.

I'm beginning to think that hunters are dramatically more powerful than the other classes. 20+ damage pounces aren't too hard and it's ridiculously easy to sneak in at least 10 damage per spawn with a cheap silent claw swipe. (gonna upload a video tonight where I lucked out and got ended up getting like 9 claw swipes in with little effort).

Not that I think he's overpowered vs competent survivors (probably the most effective or balanced though).

I wonder how well a projectile attack-based Infected would work? For example: a zombie that spits a gob of green goo that will deal some damage and slow the survivor down for a set period of time.

I'm not sure how it'd affect the balance, but all I know is that I want some more special infected.
Yeah that sounds like a good idea. I've always liked the idea of some sort of parasitic infected that latches onto a survivor and slows them down/drains their health. Or maybe an infected that spawns tiny parasites that do that, like in Cloverfield. The possibilities are endless.

:lol Just had a versus where the surviors did the stair trick on NM finale, I was a hunter I just stood on the side clawing them. They didnt even notice me there, until they started to fall incap:lol

I remember when I first started being so frustrated to get a Hunter, because it's not the most immediately useful character if you're new to the game. It can be hard to get meaningful impacts away from a good team. But man, Hunter is so rad after a few rounds... and once you utilize hunter swipes for massive damage, you'll become a beast. Sometimes I don't bother pouncing, I'll just go in after a boomer vomits and start swiping the shit out of one of the other team members and they'll think it's a regular zombie for a moment... until they're down to ten health :lol

PubexQub is great at hunter swipe damage, he's always knocking down fools! :D

It's a glitch/bug.

There is two ways through it. One, hope one of the infected boomers and explodes by it, knocking it back sometimes... or get smocked from the opposite end, pulling you toward the generator and edging the generator a bit.

But the most consistently successful way is to scout rooms before you enter to elevator for a pipe bomb or a gas tank, and bring it with you on the elevator and place it by the generator. It'll blow the thing out the way.
Yo dawg. You aren't inviting me when you guys get online. It isn't a party unless you have me there.

Survivors hide under the ramp beneath the helipad. Nearly impossible to do any damage to them and makes the smoker useless.

right right nvm, was thinking of BH for some reason...

Ok, I don't get this at all. On two of the campaigns I've been saved and my friend has been incapacitated...but he gets the achievement and I don't! WTF. This has happened two times already...so frustrating.

EDIT: Looked on the L4D forums and found out the reason for this

- For any achievement that takes a whole campaign to complete (upset stomach, nothing special, the individual campaigns, the expert achievements, etc.), they MUST be completed on a dedicated server. Otherwise, only the local -host- will get credit for the achievement. [confirmed]

I was playing with some friends today and one of them brought up an interesting point:
When you take the pills, you eat the ENTIRE bottle of pills. Not a big problem, but it did make me laugh.

Stupid text got in the way of a priceless Bill expression.

wow I just played the worst game ever with some randoms speaking russian and english. Everyone kept splitting up and doing their own thing. There was no coordination whatsoever. I was the only one to make it to the safe houses in DT. The very last safe house before you radio for the rescue someone else made it with me. As soon as we got to the house they would radio the rescue in. I tried to tell them not to call it in yet so we could talk about a plan. Then when they would radio in the rescue they started throwing molotovs and pipe bombs out the window. I really wanted to win because they sounded so excited thro the whole thing.

Kept the first tank alive until the second spawned. Blood was spilled.

Two tanks. Don't call for help while there's a tank still outside throwing rocks at you lol.

I'v never taken sooo many rocks to the face in one level before, lol what an awsome game (all talk on helped too)

I saw the Boomer and tried to knock him away, and both of us got knocked off the building from him, RD. :lol Couldn't find you at first, until I looked down.

I fell off the dock a couple times, haha. Turn your volume up, it recorded at low volume for some reason.

That sound mod is fucking hilarious, so have you sorted out your clipping/choppy game play? (how?)

No i think it's either you or your opponents that should learn how to play as none of those tricks are any good against a decent team, even with other infected assisting

e: on nm4
The only use I've found for the Smoker on No Mercy 4 is after the elevator ride.
There's a handful of spots where you could pull a survivor off the edge of the building, which is a great time for a Boomer to come in and fuck shit up even more. :D Bonus points if the Boomer's explosion knocks more survivors off the building. :P

The smoker is definitely the weakest in the sense of damage. It is the most reliant on your teammates also which is part of the problem.

There are little things like Pulling some off the 2nd story to the first. So they have to reclimb back up there. I think No Mercy 3, right when you get to the warehouses. Most of the time the people won't die, But pulling someone down quickly. Stalls the group and makes them split up a bit. Letting you get more damage in. Or for instance. Just got done with Mercy 5. Tank spawned and we had him right under the building people camp at. We used the smoker to just drop someone down to the roof if they got close to the open edge. And the tank would punt them off the roof:lol Got 2 of them that way.

this is such a great game for griefing!

I love anonymous vote kicking SOOO much! God, sometimes i initiate it just to see if my teammates are dick enough to kick the other guy for no reason.

Die as boomer without hitting anyone? Thats a vote kick
Give orders on the mic as infected? Thats a vote kick
Not kill anyone as tank? Thats a vote kick
Have less then 50 points at the end of a zombie round? Thats a vote kick

One time I was playing with these two guys who are aparently friends, and a 3rd pug. I initiate a vote kick to kick one of the friends. They immediately ask "wtf?!" and i respond "who did that?" Result: They vote kick the pug for trying to kick them.

Oh, and voting no to my vote kicks? Thats a /kill in console at start of survivor round.

Sorry I didn't take your invites last night, everyone. Trying to finish up something on Mirror's Edge, then something else came up.

It was a solid versus game anyway, aside from the guys who lagged out or crashed. It was a great game for my team as the infected. :D

it's definitely tough one someone gets pulled down. Last night, my teammate managed to do that and one of 'em tried to make a mad-dash towards the shutter. I anticipated it though, and I managed to pounce him. Other two survivors couldn't decide on who to rescue first in time, so they both died. :(

You know what makes the Smoker useless? When a dumbass Hunter in your team takes over when there's survivors walking around.

I love smokers, much prefer them to hunters anyway. I do think it needs some sort of change though. Like, not being stunned after having your grip broken, or survivors can't break the grip just by meleeing the captured survivor. Or a range increase.

They're best for making people backtrack I think. Pulling a survivor down during the crescendo in the sewers map messes them up pretty badly, especially if you have a boomer waiting down there for them.

I joined a game in progress last night right as my team was punching down the wall on No Mercy 3. I told them to stop exploiting and they didn't, so I hobbled over to the lift to start the real event. They vote kicked me right afterward. I was only in the game long enough to hear some raging nerd yell "what the fuck are you doing?"

I feel I was put into that game to make things right.

Yeah they really need to patch that shit right quick. That and the rock in Death Toll.

There are a few little things that need to be fixed. One of the big ones I'm noticing is when the group of 4 just get into a closest(3 closed space) and melee in one direction. Doing it really isn't a glitch, But its just cheap and dulls the game.

Hiding under the ramp in the No Mercy finale is another one. Although, last night a team that did it stayed under there when I spawned as a tank thinking they were safe :lol

That works? Eesh. I've always been going straight for the smoker.

Had a great game lastnight with Louie, TheGeorge and Emperor Zombi. TheGeorge got knocked down by a tank and after being pounded on for a bit a smoker yanked him away and up some stairs. I figured it would be a lucky save but the tank turned shortly after and went after him again to finish off the job. :lol

Finally bought L4D even though I'm going back to dialup in a week or two probably.

First three games were just Normal campaigns 1, 2, and 4 with randoms.

Then I saw some GAFers online and joined their lobby. My fourth game ended up being Expert-level um last campaign (getting to farmhouse/army). Oh god I'm so sorry guys =p

Lets see. Third or fourth mission in the sewers I think, we had a boomer get someone like 2 mins from the entrance and a horde went nuts coming from a 'safe' room, I turned around and saw a mass of them and went a bit spastic with my auto-shottie and blew a lot of zombies (and a teammate) to hell.

I was carrying a jerrycan and a horde was incoming so I threw it and someone's shottie blew it up like 2 feet from us, setting everyone on fire horribly.

Pretty sure I ended up killing the least amount of zombies, special zombies, and the most amount of teammates >.< However I did get best Protection score, and I deked out a Tank nicely hehe. We somehow managed to finish the Finale after what seemed like dozens of tries (fucking cornfield). Had an absolute blast though, thanks guys! :D

And sniping you guys with the rocks was so much fun :lol :lol

Do X360 achievements trigger when playing online.

I think I threw a molotov to a Tank, but no achievement.
Then again, hit a Hunter off from someone and the same.

When I did that later on the single campaign, worked on the first try.

Any thoughts?

Were you playing on easy?

I beat an easy campaign today with only pistols to see if I could get akimbo assassin and didn't get it, I assumed it was because I did it on easy (it's ridiculously easy)

Ah, I got to see the tank jump on me from another perspective.

It's quite interesting to see another teammate's viewpoint of what transpired. That first rescue event tank, at the end, went to such a perfect spot to throw a rock. He couldn't hit us, but he had everyone unloading on him. Oh, and beautiful use of tree cover on the non-event tank. It looked as cool as it did from my perspective.

No you can get the achievement on easy campaign. But you can't use molotovs/pipe bombs or the chain gun...pretty sure they count against the akimbo achievement.
