The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

When do you guys mostly play on Steam? I usually play during the evenings and still haven't run through some scenarios in their entirety and would enjoy not having to pug some of they versus games.
 
any gaffers wanna play with me on steam during night time? I only got a couple friends who have this game and they dont play all the time, add me on steam: poopsock56
 
Daigoro and 2 of my boys had a great time last night... I never realized the game was so glitchy until Daigoro showed us all these crazy exploits.

Want to play Death Toll + Advanced again soon? This time I'd like to go for one of those tougher achievements...

Headphone thread in OT is your best bet. I just got MDR-V6s, they're great but not designed for gaming.
 
Is anyone afraid of witches anymore?

When I see witches I just run right up to them and crown their asses. Even if I don't kill them in one shot, the follow-up 2-3 shots from the auto-shotty will certainly do the trick.

Witches need a buff.

Edit: And I'm well aware that the infected can mess around with the witch and either artificially set her off or bait people into shooting her, but in general, I don't fear witches anymore.

I usually avoid them most of the time (if I'm playing with someone new that's not sure how to handle it usually), but if I have someone like Scarlet around, I'm 99% sure she can kill it easily, unless being messed up by a special infected.

I've experienced a bunch of glitch witches recently. Where they would take out multiple people of my party (one time three of us!), or strike me down when another survivor had startled them.

So, the fear now is getting a buggy one.

If you get in her way or she can't find the original person she will track onto someone else. I think that's part of the design. Happened to me in the sewers of No Mercy all the time.

I might've had something like that. My friend startled a witch and was running, and I was right behind her shooting her as much as I could before she got to him (this was expert), and then she turned around and slashed me and I died.

What happened to us was that she was right in front of the saferoom in NM1, and behind was a horde that was pretty eager to stomp the shit out of us. The 3 of us couldn't out of the subway in time and when one of us eventually started her, she just went on a rampage and took out all 3 of us! She might have taken out the 4th too, but he was already being smokered.

But yeah, witches still scare me in versus. Specially when the team only has level 1 weapons. On the campaign side of things, I think they're way too easy to kill.

Yeah...

Unfortunately, the word has been "soon" since before the Christmas break. :( (one of the developers revealed it in a podcast, can't remember where though)

Nope! Not at all. You can make a witch useful by ; pouncing whoever is about to crown her , or grabbing them away with a smoker tongue, or...

I agree with Pillow. They're not pointless in VS, even if both teams are good.

Has no mic. I kind of want to replace my current one too as it hurts my ears after long play sessions, looking for ones that cover you ears like the link you posted but with a Mic.

I already have a standalone mic so that's not too much of an issue. Are wireless headphones any good though? I was thinking of going for these instead:

I was trying to hide around the corner from a witch just hidden from view the other day to try to vomit on survivors who passed by. Having them not being able to see the witch coming at them would have been fun.

That would have been a great gambit if the survivors didn't have the gall to use an alternate route. The nerve of some people...
 
I have to say, This game makes me pissy when you get stuck with an extremely weak link player. You know, That person who you constantly have to go back to save or gets the boomer and tries to stalk them in it for 5minutes only to get shot :lol Its not just a waste of a spot then but drastically makes your effort worthless

yeah that was fun. lets do it again soon.

i need some of the tougher achievements on 360 as well. they will take some dedication to get though. but the team of guys you were with last night were good team players. (not sure if they were Gaffers or not. didnt recognize the names, but i think i added them both.)
 
last night was a bad night to play. All the games I joined were bad either no mics or no team work or both. I hope I can get into some good games tonight.
 
Thanks to Dave-edi-on for the invites. The second/third ones wouldn't let me click the invite and by the time I tabbed back into L4D the game was full :( .
 
I am terribly disappointed...the Benny Hill wav I found didn't work for the tank music. It just played static. :( Does it need to be a specific length/quality or something?

We had another last minute departure but it was right on the cusp of the ending, figured it wouldn't have been worth it to invite you for two minutes. :lol

Had some good games tonight, but ultimately lost them. First one our team choked at the very end, the other we just weren't very organized.

Need to learn all the tank tricks. :lol

That was your crew? No wonder you guys and pillowknight were so confrontational when I first stepped in. :lol

I thought you guys seemed almost a little too organized during the finale.

Man oh man, we would have had that game if we didn't drop the ball at the last minute. I really need to learn how to play the tank better; I'd honestly wouldn't mind if I didn't get it at all for the time being. That was a good game though, everybody was dishing back what they got hit with.

Shame we had two players drop out mid-game too. I'm starting a fund to buy Fallengorn some new gear. :lol

Gattsu25 is the ID for my home PC, which my friends and family use while I'm away, and I sometimes use on weekends.

*shit internet connection where I'm staying...every other weekend I travel back to my home and am able to play online.
