The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Sure you're playing on expert? I find that hard to believe. Just because you set a matchmaking up to do expert, doesn't mean you'll be placed in an expert server.

Well, this was on 360. But, yeah, matchmaking was set to expert.

So, expert servers are brutal then?

Just got through playing co-op. Pretty fun although I didn't know what the hell I was doing. I need like an Faq or something. How do you know where to go? I just followed everybody.

I think we tried for almost an hour or so, managed once or twice to get to the alley. We wisely toned it down to advanced and that was still hard but doable for us.

I think people have to remember that even on expert the director will sometimes give you a relatively easy game due to the randomness of the director, ie good solo boss infect spawn (for you), easy to take down infect rush, etc. Combine that with a good team and good position and expect can sometimes be quite "simple". Of course, the director can be brutal sometimes also (and people panic), and that's where the expert gets hard.

The Director is hilarious. Played a game last night with Fallengorn and another gaffer. Right before the saferoom after the subway, where the turret is, I got pinned down by a flaming hunter who ran through some flames to get at me, a teammate saved me and as soon as I got up, a smoker decided to suck me up.

Wasn't the point of the director to not be random?

Playing co-op with gowans, jonathan and marty. Very hard but fun and intense. Don't think I'd enjoy playing it with NPCs though, co-op is where it's at. It wouldn't be the same reviving or saving an NPC.

Great fun there guys, just wish I had a headset that wasn't ripped apart by a dog. Only when we upped to Advanced did I turn down the game volume enough so I could hear you :lol

Edit: trying to find the soldering iron...

Yeah they were ace games, voice is essential to this game though.

So much fun, love when the horde hits, all hands on deck and your heart does get going.

Dunno what I was thinking with Expert tho we will do it some day but normal was a great first time run then Advanced we really got our game together.

Really cant wait for the full game now, might take a day off for it.

Wow, everyone I got matched with was horrible. Just running off their own, alerting witches, and generally having no idea what they are doing.

If some people are looking for an extra player, send me an invite/PM please so I can enjoy the demo as you are supposed to.

yeah I wouldn't bother playing matched games with the demo.

Friends, Friends of Friends or Gaffers thats it.

Maybe a online thread should be started for 360 matchups and a shared gamertag should be created?

Luckily, found the soldering iron, and my headset now works.

Great next time we will be able to hear you scream ;)

Heh, I'm glad I saw gowans online (somehow he always gets a custom game going), joined him instantly and had a great first time experience. Didn't know what I was doing at first but got it fairly quickly.

Yep, still fun as hell. Hopefully my brother will download it when he gets back from class.

source engine looks gorgeous! fuck the haters, PC version looks amazing!

Oh yeah, the intro CG video is excellent. Some damn good CG, direction and voice acting. Perfect for setting up the game and the mood.

At this point in time, over ten thousand people are playing the demo.

That's it? :lol

It was 8,200 when it was pre order only.

Either they all bought the full game, or people haven't woken up yet :D

It is. I'm still on the fence about the game but I want a Left 4 Dead CG movie.

Did the online co-op not have some pop-ups telling you stuff? The PC version had that on by default.

Maybe. I should have just played single player first anyway. It's hard to figure things out when you're just trying to keep up with other people in the game.

Over 11,000 now. Horde of virgin players are sprinting towards the servers.

Bolded for truth. No actor alive can fully represent the sheer awesomeness that is Louis.

How is the single player AI?

Is it feasible to play it that way?

Tough to say with only the short demo....It's no Resident Evil I can definitely say.

It feels like a PC game and that is both good and bad I suppose from my console perspective. It feels like the fun will mainly be found in the multiplayer from my limited view of only one 1 single player and 1 multiplayer game so far.

The single player AI seems adequate,

When I first downloaded the game and was watching the intro in my Engineering Course, this part came up and had me and the people behind me who I didn't were watching it too bust out laughing.

I felt that playing on Expert difficulty last night was just the right amount of challenge. By the time we reached the end we were all in red health, running out of ammo, and literally just trying to survive.

And then a boomer comes bounding out of the safe room and pukes on the closest survivor, damning us all.

I love this game :lol

Shit. Now it's over 12,000 people. it's beating TF2. Valve has to sell about 200,000 copies to pay off for their advertising campaign. Although, they do have Steam to help pad them with a hefty layer of nice cold cash.

Gah, curse the load on Steam. I've been downloading for what has to be about an hour and it's at currently running at 75 kB/s with about 93% done. Can't get it on XBL either, since for some stupid reason a credit card is needed to upgrade a child account.

What do the witches do? Everytime I've disturbed one it just ran up and pinned me down and murdered me.

That's pretty much their MO.

I just took down my first on Advanced. Took 1 pipe bomb pretty much up her ass, then 2 molotovs as I ran, then 1 she just ran through, and a shit ton of auto shotty shots, and she got me down and almost killed me.

Fucking brutal.
