Oh my god, the sound in this game is amazing! My headphones broke about two weeks ago so I haven't been able to hear anything for a while. I use my monitor for my 360 and get sound from my PC. Anyway, I got some new headphones in the last hour and played a game with them. Fuck! It's so freaking great! The sound really enhances the experience in this game. We heard the crying witch in this dark room (with pillars) before the final area so we turned off our lights and made our way through the dark. We were relieved to get through there without alerting her, but once we got into the final area her cries became louder and we realized she was actually in that room! Holy shit, I threw a molotov at her and she came running at me in all her burning glory and knocked me off my feet! :lol

Happened to me too, bitch came out of nowhere. Witches are pretty damn scary, especially when all of you are running low on health, near the end.

Yep. It's particularly great during the calm times when you're searching around and hear something moaning, crying or whatever in some dark out of the way area. So, of course you follow the sound to find it's source.

That and the transitional music the Director controls that reflects the mood of what's going on. Awesome.

Ok, so i just downloaded the demo and tried to join a match, but every single time it tells me that the server requires a password...has anybody else seen this? It even happened on a game I started :/

Why does it try to get you to join passworded servers? How the fuck am I supposed to know the password to a random server? Isn't that the entire point of passwords?

What were they smoking when they designed this matchmaking system?

I don't think they planned for people working around the lack of a server list so quickly, and didn't plan for passworded servers. Hopefully they'll patch that quickly

Yeah, I'm just glad these issues are happening during the demo so hopefully the full game launches smoothly.

Make sure you've got the developer console option checked (I can't remember which options tab it's under, so hunt for it). Then hit ~ (tilde) to bring up your console and type 'openserverbrowser' without the quotes and hit enter. After that the games should show up under the custom tab of the browser when you scan

the suggestion that this is some demo-specific stress test for the matchmaking system would make alot of sense, but i'm sure valve would have come out and said that by now should that have been the case. the last thing they want is a blogline stealing wave of bad pr two weeks before the game is released.

the thing that troubles me is valve know pc gaming, and they absolutely must have known the community would react this way....but chose to weather it anyway. this makes me worried that their decision to not include a server browser was far from a simple oversight or misjudgment, that wont be swayed by a reaction that must have been expected.

E8500
HD 4850

I have Vista 64, E8400 and 4870, no crash yet, just a heck of a time trying to connect to any servers. I got 1 game working today, it was awesome, but failed to connect the next 5 tries.
