The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

I am getting the message "The connection has failed after 10 retries." every time the server starts to load. I have gotten in successfully a couple times, so i don't know what the problem is. I am dying to play online some more. :(

anyone playing right now(360)? Playing with randoms can really suck since 90% of the people I've played with today didn't use a mic, and would just run off and do their thing even after I said it was on the hardest difficulty. Of course those games don't last that long...

Other than that, the game is incredible. So many "oh shit" moments every time you play:lol
 
Steam really hates my computer. I think I'm going to have to try and reinstall it because it freezes every time I try opening it.

?? Advanced Difficulty is the fun difficulty. Your whole group will survive it. You're going to finish.

Expert level is where its at. We tried and failed a ton. We finally beat it. Expert is where you realy have to be a team. Really nice job on the difficulty. Its not impossible, its just right.

Awesome game. I'll pick it up on the 360 since the version has no obvious flaws and my friends will play it there.
 
Alright, this is my second code EB has given me that did not work. Both are read as invalid instead of duplicate. I've copied the codes exactly as said, so my theory is they've been giving me 360 codes instead of PC ones. So in other words, here are 2 360 codes. If they work, post back here so I can have confirmation.

They shut down the method, ya.. but I'm not sure if they're honoring the ones that got in before that.

I got caught by a smoker because I was hunting it. I see it by the turbine looking thing and I'm like "SHIT, SHIT, SHIT!"! :lol :lol

JSnake managed to shoot the car once every campaign and startle the witch 2 times! :lol :lol
 
one of my friends came over last night and we did some co-op soo much fun we did a few runs on advanced then kicked it up to expert where we then got owned. The apartments were a breeze the subway was the killer. For some reason smokers really liked him I swear every round we played he kept getting attacked by a smoker. It didn't matter where he was a smoker would come out from somewhere and get him. The AI director is awesome we tried using different strategies but it didn't help since the director would throw something different at as each time.

I'm guessing Advanced will be treated as the standard difficulty once the main game comes out. Considering how frequently random deaths are on Expert when you're not even 10% through the game, completing a campaign will probably take prohibitively too many tries for everybody but the top-notch players.


There better be a mall level somewhere in the mix...
 
I must really suck at this game or something cause a lot of people are calling me a nub. :lol I don't get why people just run in rambo style - they always get swarmed.

If you stay back too much, in the end you'll just fight more enemies in the long run.

Expert is hard. Also I keep shooting Louis. :lol

Well people were running past all the pick ups like the pipe bombs and health pills so I stopped and picked them up. Also, a lot of the guys were just running into swarms. I guess if they're not the difficult enemies, it's the thing to do? And yeah, I shoot a lot of my own guys a lot. :lol I'm enjoying the game for sure.

Oh well that's different.

The first game I joined I headed out a doorway and flicked right, saw Louis and shot bringing him to the ground :lol

I killed one of my teammate in a firefight after, but we all died anyway.

It kind of makes me want FF to be off, which of course we will see on some servers :D
(I know it kind of takes away from the game, but I can't help me TF2 habit of spy checking)

I'd just shoot at the enemies and sometimes the other guys would just move in the way - kind of unavoidable. I asked if they wanted to split up into two and kind of spread out a bit so that things like that wouldn't happen but they didn't like that idea.
 
I was hoping this game would be a bit scarier... but hopefully the tension will rise in versus mode.

The only time I really felt apprehension was my first encounter with the witch and that creepy music that tells you you're getting closer.

Did. It's not so much that it's not hard enough. I just wish they did a bit more work on sound queues and sound effects to really make it scary.

Not that I'm complaining about the game. It's a wonderful piece of work. I have it pre-ordered.
 
haha think we've played too much, done about 4 hours and expert is now too easy :P

probably still ok on publics with randoms but with friends on mics we got it sussed, anyone got an ip of a server running that epic mode?

Knowing Valve, I'd take this as absolute confirmation of a tenth class coming soon. (By soon, I mean Valve-time soon, i.e. Christmas '09.
 
They will have all the updates be L4D dead and continually hint at a new class, while in tests it is implemented horrible and all the other classes never get updates :(

I think the classes are pretty much fantastic, I don't see what they could add.
 
:( This really sucks. I've only made it through the demo once, and that's because the group I jumped into was speeding like hell through it.

Every other time my game crashes and goes straight to the desktop after about 5 minutes (10 if I'm lucky). So far I've reinstalled the latest ATI driver, in addition to reinstalling the demo. I really hope it doesn't do this for me at retail...

It's been pretty buggy for me too. I'll get into a game and then be disconnected in 10 seconds or when joining a game, it'll just error out. It's still great when it works though. :D
