practice not aiming at teammates?
Huh?
I meant that I switch to the shotgun when the hordes are coming because it's much easier/faster to deal with them and help other teammates.

Guys, the demo gets released to everyone on Tuesday. Is it really that big of a deal?

... now if you'll excuse me, I have some zombies to shoot. In the best demo ever.

Well i'm officially burnt out of the demo. I've played the same two levels an absurd number of times, time to wait for the full game.

Yeah, same here. Already logged over 9 hours in the demo.

So if the director can auto populate the maps wouldn't it be theoretically possible to play through the entire HL2 campaign in L4D? Because that would be pretty epic.

If the path finding doesn't suck. Of course some help aside the director would help as it's not always on target.

Yes. You could basically import any arbitrary piece of geometry, add a spawn and exit for the survivors, and the Director would try to populate it. Converting something into a good level would take somewhat more work, especially if you want it to be usable in Versus, but there's very little work involved in just getting the fundamentals running.

Is the demo co-op or are you getting a taste of these scenes with AI buddies?
both, you can play single player with co-op bots or while you are playing with say 2 people the last guy will be a bot until someone comes in and takes his spot.

This is what happens when you play public games.

Randoms = retards 99.999999999% of the time.

At any rate, this game is awesome. I hope the later levels are a bit more difficult though.

All my games have been with randoms and I've only had one griefer in 10 hours of play.

Yesterday we made it to the last safe room on expert and we kind of all agreed to kill each other in the safe room, but we were all laughing about it when we restarted...

Also, people will get bored with the demo and try new things. And grief. Just change server or play along with them and have some fun for a bit.

How is the AI of the co-op bots?

Fantastic
Some of the best I've seen in a while. They actually help you, kill enemies and know not to shot you.
This makes playing single player a viable option, but with people is where the game really shines.

I've played just under 10 hours of the demo.
I still want to play more of it, but I'm starting to get burnt-out.

I want more content... Perhaps I should just stick to Peggle so I'm not sick of the game before it releases.

Completely agree. The AI is really fantastic.

They could have easily screwed up the co-op mode... but kudos to them for making it completely seamless. To me this is really what sells the whole experience - i don't feel guilty about dropping out of a game or switching to spectator mode to take a short break because the AI instantly takes over and it's actually decent, even on expert it can hold it's own. Not to mention when someone else does leave their spot is usually filled within a minute or two.

This game sets a new standard for what co-op gaming should be.

Played Expert with two friends tonight. Now I just have to get my roommate online at the same time as my other two friends with the demo and I'll be going at it with a full party. Gotta love it.

So say I had only 1-2 friends who I would play this with, still worth it? Or do you need a group of four to make it fun?
The AI is good enough to take over for 1-2 people, I'd say yes. But it's also fun enough to play with random people online too, and I'm sure you'd find plenty more gaffers who would be fun to get in a game with.

Just did another round of spectating the AI in the first level on expert. They did better this time. All of them survived.
And again it was pretty fascinating. Francis, badly hurt, bumped into the car, alarming all the infected. The survivors walked downstairs and fought off most of the horde at the narrow end of the stairs. Then they ran to the safe room and slammed the door before the rest of the infected reached them. :lol
Probably completely random, but still funny how it played out.

Facial expression reminds me of the indian in that old littering commercial.

Man. If the director was a person, I would hate them for the rounds tonight. It was acting like we ran over it's little kitten as a child, and it was seeking revenge on some Kill Bill: Volume I fucking hate you shit. So damned good. lol

I killed a tank, only to get utterly annihilated by a team consisting of hunter, smoker, and zombie waves. All of my team members were dead, and they were waiting behind the door on the opposite side of the last subway car. :lol I got owned in no time flat. :lol

scariest shit ever. I didn't even have my flashlights on, nor was anyone shooting. It's like it knew I was taking a screen shot and decided to come fuck me up, because she doesn't like the paparazzi. :(

We all got on the train cos one of us got vomited on only to realize a tank was coming toward us from the opostive side. :lol

I feel like I'm doing this a lot, but if anyone has a spare demo key I'd appreciate it. Shoot me a PM.

Sorry for shitting up the thread.

I'll see you guys online in a couple of days regardless, can't wait!

I got pounced on by a Hunter just as everyone got blinded by Boomer vomit. So of course nobody can see me to beat the hunter away.

You guys think they can add new boss infected as DLC? One tiny gripe I have is that they've revealed all the bosses already. It would have been cool to come across something strange and new.

Left 4 Dead posted more interesting news on server performance feedback and this:

Oh, god, I can't stand up. Resolution? 3840x1024. Yum.

Neat, but I don't see what is so appealing with gaming across multiple monitors. Maybe it's just me, but the gap between each screen would bug the heck out of me.

Most likely there will be new enemies and possibly weapons because that's Valve marketing strategy of releasing new content to reel in more customers. As for hidden stuff, Valve hasn't officially shown anyone the Death Toll movie. We know a lot more of the first three movies.

Oh, and official Xbox Magazine gave L4D a good score.
