The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

So I noticed it seems like they nerfed tank health. I don't mind nerfing it down from the 8000 they had before, but now tanks seem pretty trivial. Maybe they should up their health, but not back to the level they were at before.

Yeah, saw that in the L4D411 news post. Basically Japanese tentacle "stuff", if you know what I mean.

Plus the underlying FACT that Zoey always shoots the car or alerts the witch.

It's my civic duty to pick her and reinforce the stereotype.

Ugh, what a time for a hardware failure. My laptop's continuing decline into uselessness finally took the life of a critical component (hard drive), so it seems like high time to just build a real rig. So, no more demo for me. :(

Kill some zombies for me, GAF (while I go pick out parts and consult the "need a new PC" thread).

Just checked out the demo on Steam and I liked it a lot more than I expected to actually. I might have to buy it sometime and get a little more gameplay out of my PC since I've kinda ignored it for gaming lately.

Played it single player on the 360 and yeah, have to agree with the lack of wow. The pacing feels like its controlled (which it is of course), but I didn't expect it to be so obvious - scattered zombies, then a massive vomit of the fuckers out of everywhere, followed by dead quiet. Rinse and repeat.

No close-up aim mode seems weird to get used to but is probably a godsend in this kind of game. Graphics seem a generation behind frankly, and there's a lot of clipping and walking through other characters going on. Lastly, the icons for picking up items are pretty weird too but I ended up getting used to it after a while.

All in all its decent, but I'm sure co-op is what brings this sucker to life. Just figured there would be more to it that I could glean from solo play.

Man, after playing Gears maybe I'm expecting for too much from other games right now.

Day 1 for me.

8 week school holidays are coming up, I really want to reward myself with gaming after these shitty exams. Gears of War 2 is good but the first had more staying power; IMO the matchmaking needs to be fixed to keep me hooked.

Furthermore I enjoyed the demo and thought the game was a fresh experience.

Well there's your problem.

Temp-bans should be handed out for anyone posting impressions that has not played co-op on expert. :)

It's like commenting on Battfield without playing the MP.

Congratulations, you get the obvious knee-jerk reply award.

Not saying the game is crap by any means - have had it pre-ordered since I heard the concept and Valve uttered in the same sentence, and am looking forward to the real deal getting delivered soon enough.

I'm positive of two things: 1. Co-op will bring this corpse of a game to frightening life, and 2. I'm probably going to end up team killing regardless of my best efforts - and I *never* hurt teammates in other games.

Just surprised by my first impression is all. I guess I expected the mayhem, but I also expected more physicality to the whole production. It feels floaty, and doesn't seem to fit as natural on the console as I expected it would.

This is damn easy to fix. Just don't include a single player mode in your game, or in your demo. Otherwise ya know, people might end up playing it and stuff.

Thanks man, I've never won anything before.

You should definitely try out co-op as soon as you can, makes the game a hell of a lot more fun.

I don't get it. Anyway, I'm glad your beast of a laptop is working now.

Test out your processor and quadro's performance with the following commands in game single player.
in console:
sv_cheats 1
god 1
bind g "give propanetank"
z_throwforce 19000

hit G and fire (MOUSE 1) a bunch of times against the wall closely and see how smooth it goes. :lol

Will do, and I'm sure you're right. Wish I tried it co-op first - there's not much to impress in single player alone. Hell, I didn't even know the game even had a single player mode.

Whose line is it anyway?

Thanks for the help. STupid drivers.:lol :lol

Sorry, I didn't mean framerates exactly. It's just stressing out the source engine and your laptop. Propane explosion madness.
Oh I know lol. Saw that video on left4dead 411 did you?

Oh man... the director was being a real pain in the arse to one of my teams on expert. We took like 4 tries to get past the apartment level. However, the 4th attempt was epic... we barely made it to the building near the cars, and then they one of them noticed us in the buildings and they started swarming us. I threw a molotov right where most of them came through, but 30 plus managed to get through and had to be taken out in the dark (like half went to the double doors connected to the room and started bashing it in). Amazingly, none of us fell down throughout that mess.

I killed 99 zombies in that round... I took 28 damage, and I didn't hit any of my teammates even once. I felt like a hero. :D

obviously, hehe. Notice how I have no creativity. Must go through cvars when I have down time.
To test you're skills spawn 13 witches and see how long you last after you give them 1hit kills and they sense you automatically.

This is my experience also. After a polished game like Gears this seems unintersting, unpolished and very floaty

I am sure the PC-version is nice but the I won´t be getting the console version anymore

I gotta say, it's actually a little disappointing for me now if I don't run into a tank.

:lol :lol :lol :lol Dude I feel the exact same way. The tank beating everyone's ass in a rampage makes it all the more fun.

I went into Singleplayer Normal first too, and it wasn't exactly that great... But when I entered co-op in Advanced, well let's just say I just clocked in my 17th hour.

I'm definitely sold. I had a Left4Dead orgy yesterday and think I'm gonna lay off till the retail release (easier said than done I bet.) Awesome game.
