So I have a stupid shitty problem with my headset maybe someone else has overcome before. Basically when I plug it into the USB the computer recognizes it, when I go into audio properties it recognizes the microphone too. Problem is I can't get any sound to output through it, only when I deleted all the other sound devices (Realtek HD Audio) did it randomly start playing through the headset but then of course no sound came out of the laptop when the headset wasn't plugged in.

Anyone?
XP? Open up the windows audio control where there's all the volume sliders and stuff. Play around with the selections and mute options. Also make sure you have all the sliders available to your control. Go the advance menu in File and enable view of all sliders.

Now that the business of the last few days is over, I hope to be able to get into a game sometime tonight after cleaning up my neglected apartment.

Vista, here's what it looks like right now when the USB is plugged in and it's playing stuff. I even tried to test the headset from that screen and it works, but setting it as the default doesn't do anything.

Reviews I've seen say when you plug in headset output just defaults straight to it, but that's not the case with me and I can't even figure out away to get output to it at all other than deleting all other devices.

i love reading your opinions ont he game since me and my friends experience similar situations. this game is fucking awesome. cant wait to hop onto blood havest tonight. and honestly,i dont feel that a map is complete unless everyone survives. me and my two other firneds usually play with one bot, so a true victory to me is either all 3 of us survive or if we can 4.

also, this isnt a short game by any means, we`ve been playing on advance and we`ve probably put in at least 10 hours on just two maps so far. playing on normal isnt really challenging, so play on advance or expert because on normal you are selling yourself short of an awesome experience. the higher difficulty require swat team-like coordination and communication.

Ugh Ive been using a logitech headset (dont buy these) and they smash your ears so hard they literally become sore after extended play, I'm thinking about buying an actual mic and use my main Z5500's for audio, unless someone can recommend an GOOD PC headset :D

Any good tips out there for playing infected? For instance, I didn't know until a friend told me last night that once you pounce on someone as a hunter, hitting the attack button adds a damage multiplier. That's a big deal, one that wasn't explained by the game.

That sounds like bullshit as there's no point in having such a mechanic

Finally the game has grabbed me. I wasn't feeling it before.

Now though, my group of friends and I are powering through the campaign on Advanced and loving every second of it. We've had so many cool moments, but my favourite is holding out in a closet, all 3 of us (and the cpu which always decides to stand outside and get destroyed) sitting in that tiny room blasting our machine guns and shot guns at the hundreds of zombies furiously trying to get in through the small doorway. Then everyone tearing out of there when a tank comes. The chaos is fucking unbelievable. It's almost like sex.

plus if you had to right click to maximize effectiveness, the benefit of typing "Get up, bitch!!" as youre on top of somebody ripping them to shreds is lost. :lol

Went ahead and deleted the shitty Realtek driver and now it works. Go figure. Thanks!

if its a usb headset it will have its own built in soundcard of sorts, most likely anyway

anyone played versus on expert? haha that's some funny shit

I dunno if this has already been covered...but why isn't versus available on the other two campaigns?

I sure hope its added at some point...vs mode is god.

All headsets are garbage.

You buy these cans:

And you buy this mic:

edit: I think a pump action shotgun to the back of the head or an unsuspecting witch is a 1 shot kill.

Yup (On Easy).

Apparently it's bugged though, I know someone who got it by going right up in her face on Advanced and shooting thrice with the Auto Shotgun.

Here's the ledge thing Crooked Rain did. It works pretty well.

This is where I stand to do it (spawn from behind this spot so you position yourself sooner):

Then grab the victim, and they'll get dragged over the ledge and will need help due to the extremely fast incapacitation.

Works pretty well, the guy I grabbed in the above picture did it to me afterward on their infected turn. :lol

Yeah, I've tried from behind and in the face with both shotguns on different difficulties, and it won't give it to me. One guy just casually ran by her and got it.

I hope there's a good website for tactics in L4D setup soon. It's kinda frustrating how some people seem to be allergic to teamwork. But I think the main issue is that most people have this mentality that "no zombie must be left un-shot." Every game there's one guy that'll go out of his way to shoot every single zombie in the most remote areas. Now this isn't such a big deal in the lower difficulties of co-op. But it's especially detrimental on versus. People need to realize that by doing this, they're giving the infected team more respawns and more opportunity to screw with your team.

i found out that some tank encounters are scripted. :-/ i was playing the final level of blood harvest with a script which removes special infected & bosses, so there would be only normal zombies. i wanted some night of the living dead feeling :D

everything was fine but the rescue team never arrived. after almost 20 minutes i deactivated the cheats and finally a tank was spawned. we killed it, another one was spawned, we kiled that one too and THEN the rescue team arrived. so it seems that there are always 2 tanks and if they can't get spawned then you will fight endless waves of infected.

should be same for other levels. i thing in the final level of no mercy there are also always 2 tanks before the helicopter arrives.

Correct, there's always 2 tanks for the finales.

I had two brothers from Oslo playing with me, they were hilarious to play along with. They had that heavy Norway accent, and every time something big would happen they'd go "OH SHIT OH FUCK" as if they were having an orgasm or something. It was fun to play with them besides the obvious, because it seemed like they were really into it and were scaring themselves.

I've been playing around with the 3rd-person over the shoulder cam, and I have to say it has the potential to be fucking awesome. It's pretty good right now, except for the shot-gun sounds not working or the fact that you shoot to the right of the cross-hair instead of in the center.

My framerate also takes a dive when I use it, but man this is definitely a way to keep me excited for RE5. Hopefully, somehow, the bugs around the 3rd person camera can be fixed.

I tried using the command but it says that I have to turn some kind of cheat script on.

Me and my brother were playing with this guy from Taiwan.

The only thing he ever said was "Hey lady. Cover me!" referring to my brother who was playing as Zoey. It was pretty hilarious hearing that for an hour and a half.

That was all he said over and over. But hey he was a team player, language barrier or not. He had a pretty sweet plan for the Blood Harvest finale. We all holed up in an upstairs bedroom with two at the window and two at the door. It worked pretty damn well.

Is the auto-join broken for everyone else? If I choose to auto-join a friend's game, all it will do is make a boink sound and rip me out of my current game. Then you hope you can manually join quickly enough or your gameless.

The group I was with, we ran into 4 or 5 in the finale of Death Toll when we finally beat it. At least 1 on the way, and I think 3 Tanks during the finale as well as the one during the escape. :lol

And Crushed lived up to his namesake awesomely earlier. I thought it was pretty cool when I smacked a car into two humans at once; he got a car down an alley and smacked it into 3 of them. I didn't even know humans had as much HP for as much damage the game said he did. :lol

Damn, it didn't save the picture showing; game said Crushed did 7500 damage as a Tank. :lol

Dont you just hate when people leave the resuce to save one player that is swamped by horde, an special infected? Had a guy leave the boat to go and save computer controlled Francis, I nearly broke my controller in half I raged so hard

Fuuuuck. I get the game tomorrow, but my friends, whom I have promised to play the game through with, gets it on tuesday. What shall I do, GAF?

Play Versus on No Mercy?

I spawned as a Tank in Apartments of No Mercy, and nobody expected it. I punched a car into 2 Survivors as well, and took them all down. My first time as a Tank and I got the achievement for taking out all 4 Survivors at once.

Playing Versus makes you really appreciate team work.

You could have just made the headphones your default device after plugging it in.

New PC is finally functional. :)

Still have to download L4D and get the system configured and set up properly. :(

But I'll be able to play L4D. :)

And then I'm gone between Wednesday and Saturday. :(

That was epic.

Too bad I was one of the guys being crushed.

:(

Oh man, I havn't had so much fun in a game since ever.

Right after starting the second part of blood harvest, 3 of us rush through to the open area. When we get there we find that the one we left behind has been pinned by a hunter, needless to say he died a long, horrible death and through the rest of the round he continued to insult us and cheer on the zombies.:lol :lol

later on at the next part, I climb on top of the barn roof but end up in the "falling" state since I was too close to one of the open sections. Someone tries to save me but gets pinned by a hunter, a third guy tries but ends up falling on a section right next to me. So who sould come and save us all but the guy we abandonned earlier on! he saves me, then a smoker gets me, he saves me again, then another hunter comes along! I swear I havn't laughed so much in a game in my life! :lol :lol :lol :lol

That was seriously awesome even though I was one of the ones who got hit by that car.

I wonder how viable it would be to use the Tank to smack a car in the way of the Pawn Shop door to slow those that flee down..something for me to try next time.

Took a friend and me forever to beat
the helicopter landing part on top of the building
on the hardest difficulty. Smokers and the second Tank kept fucking us up :lol Now we're stuck on the portion where you come out of the safe house that's an abandoned train.
