The Official NeoGAF Groundbreaking Electronic Music Thread™

"Witch house" is probably the dumbest of the recent genre tags. Does Grimes really fit that mold? Love the new album, she gets better with every release. Still love that split with D'eon(Darkbloom).
Pretty sure 'witch house' started as a joke, but in these days' internet, that stuff becomes serious. That said, Grimes is neat. Fills a very specific 'random' mood for me once in awhile.

Anyway, been in a mood for something quiet lately. Really loving these next tracks. I don't think I saw them listed in the thread yet.

Mister Lies - I Walk

Mister Lies - False Astronomy

HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUQ

this new Clark album is the best thing I've heard in a long, long time.

Fuck yeah! New Clark and new Becoming Real!!!

Already digging the BR track a lot quite different compared to his last ep. Gonna give the new Clark album a listen tomorrow!

Edit: Awww the Clark album is due release next week. Went and listened to a few songs from the album though.... Fuuuuuck it's greaaat.

Some youtube user said it best

Missed that sound so much. Can't wait till April.

I like it. It is unique and took me a listen or two to really grasp. For me Metamorph is probably the highlight. I mean absolute highlight so far of what I have heard from you. Mixing everything is just spot on in that track. A delight for my ears. This is more of a peice that will grow on me.

Thanks Karak. :) It's really hard to gauge how many times a person needs to hear your work for it to 'click' since that doesn't come into the writing process but is actually a byproduct of your songwriting. It worries me because a lot of people judge tracks based on the first time they hear it, which is expected of course, but some songs take a while to really sink in. I've been meaning to write more tracks in the same vain as "Metamorphosis" and it looks like I'll get back to it in the coming weeks.

Again, i'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for listening!

Saw Sasha last night, it was crazy.
I havent got out of bed yet but I am pretty sure I'm going to ache like fuck :lol

Sasha & James Teej - As You Fall (Original Mix)

You get those songs that come on every now and then that are just perfect at that moment in time.

Massive fucking grin, eyes open looking around seeing everyone smiling, Vocals come in and goosebumps/hairs standing up on the back of your neck, eyes shut singing along with the crowd, eyes still lighting up from all the strobes/lasers. love it.

Oh and an insane longshot but if anyone knows of a prog house song with vocals saying something like "your so vain" can you post it? doing my head in trying to find it!

Heard it in Sashs set and I swear ive heard it before, though I feel like I wont find it the same way it happened with Hernan cattaneo! :(

Great to see peope digging the new Clark album. I think it's great!

He's playing here at the end of the month. A very unexpected and pleasant surprise, though I expect a very small turn out...

In other great tour news, I've got tickets to Amon Tobins ISAM live show. Looks mindblowing.

WARM by Ben UFO & Jackmaster

This week’s mix is a special back-to-back live recording from two of the UK’s brightest talents, as Ben UFO of Hessle Audio and Jackmaster of Numbers join forces to build something special: the perfect warm-up set.

Recorded live at Trouw at the start of this year, the mix is a tribute to that early stage of a night when people are still filtering in and things, slowly but surely, begin to gather momentum, as Ben explains:

“This mix is dedicated to the art of the warm-up set. The Colors night at Trouw in Amsterdam recently organised an event where Jack and I were booked alongside Oneman and Cinnaman, a line-up consisting of specialist DJs who don't produce playing for the duration of the night.

Jack and I had been talking about how rare it was to walk into a club and see DJs building up a set and genuinely warming up the crowd, understandable given that every DJ wants to make an impact and make sure they're remembered at the end of the night. With that in mind we put ourselves forward to attempt to play the kind of warm-up we'd like to hear more often.”

Im absolutly shattered and can hardly focus at work but I got through this eariler. Pretty good but Ive no doubt I will like it alot more when I can actually focus on it upon second listen.

His Icarus track has been on national radio for about 2 months now. Pure cheese. He'll be forgotten soon along with Avicii and Labyrinth and DJ Fresh.

Yeah I keep seeing him on festival line ups. It bloody weird tobehonest as he did a few tracks last year and somehow he most recent "Icarus" has like you said been picked up by the radio and played alot.

Really excited to check this out. I listened to Ben's LWE mix yesterday, and want more more more. I love his track selections, but his mixing always has a tendency to irritate me. As soon as a groove starts to build, he'll fade into the next track and let it build for several minutes into a new groove, and then, again, he'll drop the groove as soon as it starts. Interested to see how he and Jackmaster approach the warm up.

Also, new Clark is really killer. Really, really killer.

Also also, here's a preview of Actress' new LP, R.I.P.

Robert Hood killing it, as usual. His Floorplan moniker never disappoints. Wall to Wall is a favorite of mine.
