I'm a big fan of Thievery Corp and Zero7. Any recommendations of similar groups that I could catch on to?

Try these:

Ulrich Schnauss
Blue States
The Album Leaf
Bonobo
The Rurals
Trentemoller
The Orb
Global Communication
Bjorn Torske

I played a chill set at a house party a few years back with a lot of these artists in it... Download it and check it out!

The Orb - Plateau
Ulrich Schnauss - Monday/Paracetamol
Trentemoller - The Very Last Resort
Boards of Canada - Music Is Math
Blue States - Colouration
Thievery Corporation - Lebanese Blonde
The Irresistible Force - 12 O'Clock
The Rurals - I've Travelled
Thievery Corporation - Facing East
The Album Leaf - Vermillion
Fragile State - Every Day A Story
Gotan Project - Una Musica Brutal
Yunx - Thinking About Your Next Move

It's an interesting sound, can't really place it on the EDM spectrum as far as those things go, actually it reminds me a LOT of Amiga MOD music from back in the day.

More great Detroit Stylings from across the pond.

Love this!

Has anyone heard Superpitcher's latest album (from 2009 lol)? Going back through seeing Danny Daze live (amazing, amazing set btw) I remember Shazam picked up no less than two tracks during the night from the one album. One was from the guy following him, but the other obviously wasn't. There's a third track on that LP that's choice as well, so I'll post that too:
Country Boy
Joanna
Rabbits in a Hurry

Bonus track:
The MFA - The Difference it Makes (Superpitcher remix)
(posted ages ago, but it deserves to be heard by anyone who didn't see me post it initially)

LiQuid!

I proudly and openly admit to wishing death upon the mothers of people I don't like
First time in a long time I just heard a track that instantly improved the quality of my life for having heard it.

Kuedo - Salt Lake Cuts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=en-HmMPpze4

Almost afraid to listen to more. They can't be this good, right? Guess I'll try and track down the record.

I love that album yes! Joanna is by far the best song, but SUperpitcher's "Pachanga Boys" stuff with Rebolledo produced one of my favourite tracks in ages:
Time
It's funny, the rest of the EP is completely silly (but hilarious) in comparison.

I think your tags are a bit messy :)

BTW Just had a listen, that track is holy shit awesome. Kompakt somehow have an insanely awesome roster to release shit on. SP/Pachanga, Aril Brikha, Dusty Kid, Maxime Dangles, Robag Whurme, Rex the Dog, Steve Bug... that's just the names I recognise on their page (except for Dusty Kid, but I know he re-released America on their label for that Japanese EP). I need to check out those other artists. Also need to track down that Japan EP they did that I bought. Never gave it much more time other than for DK's track.

Hopefully last random track for the night, this did my head in with how good it is. Sounds familiar so I may have heard it before, but now I'm posting it:
Richard Bartz - Diamond Girl

Really nice track, don't normally find myself running into this stuff but hey, if it's Moroder-esque, I'm in.
Petar Dundov - The Arch

His new album is gorgeous! I can't see myself using much of it in a set, but it's just a beautiful piece of work. His other remixes and singles are seriously top notch, always leaning more toward progressive house/techno. Much respect for him, top notch producer.

That Superpitcher album (we're talking about Kiliminjaro, right?) is suuuuuuper weird, but I like it. It's kind of an annoying album, due to his vocals, but I like what he did with it. "Rabbits In A Hurry" is notch, and "Heroin" is a really beautiful song. He did a RA podcast around the time of the release of the album which is worth hunting down.

Really gotta take a listen to the new Peter Dundov (and Vince Watson while I'm at it) album... heard good things about them both. I've been on a download spree of some older, but critically acclaimed dub techno and ambient stuff to listen to late at night while reading that huge Let's Play FF thread over on gaming - Andy Stott - Passed Me By, Deepchord presents Echospace - The Coldest Season, and Tim Hecker - Ravedeath 1973.

Shaneus, Dusty Kid is an Italian DJ who looks about 15 (I think he's mid 20's though), plays progno type stuff, Digweed was big into charting his stuff for a while.
Kore
Psika
Jerry Cala (this one is a favorite of mine)

I think I listened to this track about 40 times today: Fred Everything - Friday (Crazy P mix)

Weekend is gonna be busy but I'm itching to throw down another nu-disco set. Also soon I hear back from the Otakon music director whether or not I will be accepted to DJ there. Really crossing my fingers for that opportunity... what's more fun than playing some crazy amalgamation of deep house, nu disco, prog, tech house, and trouse for a bunch of 16 year olds dressed up in cosplay :p

You're just now getting those?! Oh man, you're in for a TREAT! Passed Me By is one of my favorite things from last year, a sublime EP. Def get We Stay Together, it's similar, but with a more dancefloor ready edge, however I find Passed Me By is the more interesting of the two. I could talk for days about Andy Stott, easily my favorite producer at the moment.

Blawan and Analogue Cops started a new project/eponymous label called Parassela. I'm digging the thick, almost industrial sound of these samples from the first release: http://soundcloud.com/parassela/sets/parassela-001

16 year old producer XXYYXX, compared to James Blake meets Clam Casino, releases his sophomore album for name your price.

Not necessarily my (sub)genre of choice, but it seems pretty solid, particular considering his age. Could he have chosen a more homogeneous name, though? Heh, so now we've have the XX, XXXY, and XXYYXX.

i'm getting old or something. this kind of stuff seems to getting more prolific and for the life of me i cannot understand the appeal. it's just...there's nothing to it. there's no meat or hook to it for me to latch onto.

That Krystal Klear mix looks awesome, thanks for sharing...and I'll have to take a listen to the Airhead one too. Not too many familiar tracks in the Airhead one, apart from Ice Rink, Street Halo, and Stolen - took a listen to Stolen yesterday and man what a track. Feels like 5 different songs in one, one of the parts reminds me of a prog song from 2003 which is always a plus.

I felt that way yesterday (genre getting too crowded or something), but I came back to it this morning and am enjoying it a bit more. DMT is great - the Clams Casino comparisons really feel apt there.

I like it. It is unique and took me a listen or two to really grasp. For me Metamorph is probably the highlight. I mean absolute highlight so far of what I have heard from you. Mixing everything is just spot on in that track. A delight for my ears. This is more of a peice that will grow on me.

I've always had trouble describing my style of music to people. I just say Electronic and move on. My past experiences have all been with bands so i'm predisposed to writing music that sounds like it has a band behind it. Playing live is going to be tricky.

Bouncy.

I'd tone down the melody after the first break, the chiptunes over the beat sounds too retro for me. Keep that melody on the breakdown only and send it to a trance radio DJ or show. I'm sure someone'll pick it up.
Thanks man. I'm really just experimenting with singles as it's not really my area of expertise. I'm trying to learn more and more as I go by experimenting with different genres during my downtime in between albums. But knowing that it could possibly be accepted to a radio show means I was at least mildly successful in trying to replicate that sound. Thanks again!

"Witch house" is probably the dumbest of the recent genre tags. Does Grimes really fit that mold? Love the new album, she gets better with every release. Still love that split with D'eon(Darkbloom).

Pictureplane coined it and Grimes fits in with him, so I don't know. =)
