The Grimes album is fantastic. Proper pleasure pop. Needs radio play.

Edit: The Miike Snow album is similar to this but nowhere near as popular, love it.

Lopatin is aka Oneohtrix Point Never, I don't know much about Ford. This project seems to be about making legit 80s dance music with the original sounds-- no modern context or reimagining or anything, just music that sounds like it's straight from the 80s. Tell me you can't get down to this stuff.

speaking of Laurel Halo, here's her a track from the first EP from her techno side project under the name King Felix (also the name of one of her early EPs under the name Laurel Halo...confusing!)

King Felix - Spring 01:

This EP came out under my radar.

Lovebirds & Novika - This Time (Gorge Remix)

Very, very nice. It reminds me of a really, really old house (?) track I'm sure was from around early-mid 90s, but can't remember what it is. That synth that goes up on the 4th beat... ARGH.

PS. Love those F&L tracks. Echoing okno, Strawberry Skies is particularly nice. Reminds me a lot of Grum. A LOT. And also a little of Stuart Price in his early days under the nom de plume of Les Rhythmes Digitales.

Oh, one more I don't think I posted, but such a great, great track that I'd hate for any of you to miss out on:
Lovebirds - Want You In My Soul

And two more, mainly for the 80s tip, also for some new Jacques Lu Cont stylings. Not quite sure what to think of them just yet. I think I like them, but they lack any of the left-of-centre, bizarre hooks of Ready 2 Wear (the Paper Faces remix):
Church
Reload
Although, I never really liked any of his other tracks on first listen, and these are kind of starting to grow on me... and be sure to check footage of his from Coachella last week. Looks like he totally fucking rocked it, shame there's no direct feed of his set :(

Fuck, ADD kicking in. One more, I swear. May have posted this before, but maybe not:
Audiofly - 6 Degrees feat. Fiora (Tale Of Us Remix)

I've been MIA in this thread for quite a while. Hopefully I can catch up soon.

I just got home from seeing DJ Shadow finally. It was the very last concert of his "Shadowsphere" tour. It was fucking amazing.

I took a bunch of clips hopefully they came out.

So, I mentioned a few weeks back that I was doing a melodic/Detroit influenced techno mix for the Tranceaddict genre challenge... finally finished it yesterday. It's my first time mixing the genre, with tracks both old and new, Detroit and Detroit-influenced. I think the mixing turned out pretty decent, I attempted to mix it somewhat in key. Please listen and tell me what you think!

Motor City Melody - Tranceaddict Genre Competition April 2012

1) Omar S and OB IGNITT - Wayne County Hill Cop's (Omar S Mix) [FXHE Records]
2) Stare5 feat. Bryan Zentz – The Sprawl [Thoughtless Music]
3) Morgan Geist – Detroit (c2rmx2 By Carl Craig) [Environ]
4) Dosem - Beach Kisses (Joris Voorn Green mix) [Green]
5) Renaissance Man - Natty Jussi (Jori Hulkkonen Remix) [Turbo]
6) Kenny Larkin – Integration [Plus 8 Records Ltd.]
7) Slam – Positive Education [Soma Quality Recordings]
8) Octave One - The Greater Good (Mix 1) [MS10]
9) Jamie Anderson - Dolphin (Dave Angel Mix One) [Artform]
10) Chymera - Umbrella (Funk D'Void mix) [Ovum Recordings]
11) Dirty Doering - Loco (Vince Watson Remix) [Damage Music Berlin]
12) R-Tyme - R-Theme (Mayday Mix) [Transmat]

Nice! I'm still looking for a decent live video of (Not So) Sad and Lonely. When the break from Blood on the Motorway comes in is just amazing. There's a short version in the end credits on the Dj Shadow Profile video posted online at http://djshadow.com/video/dj-shadow-profile-video-2011 but would love the whole track.

I'm really hoping for a DVD/Blu-ray release of the shadowsphere tour now it's finished.

Edit: Was listening to The Private Press last night, and didn't realise there was an extra version of Giving Up The Ghost on the end of my vinyl copy. Nice version.

Some serious heat happening right now!

New Traveller, aka Shed: http://www.juno.co.uk/products/a-100-ep/451686-01/
"Bypass" is a massive techno stormer.

Midland-What We Know (Motor City Drum Ensemble Remix) Massive, massive tune. On par with his remix of DJ Sprinkles.
Trackman Lafonte & Bon Qui Qui - Fortunes of the Lord New release by Legowelt+Xosar, interesting electro take.
Elijah Collins - Call On You/When I'm Around Fantastic house jammers in the vain of Maceo Plex and Soul Clap.
Milyoo - Hides In You Not sure what to call this, atmospheric bass?
Moon Runner - Cultural Track One
Moon Runner - Interactive Track
Moon Runner - Clinton Track Essential release for anyone into nu-disco.
Ruben & Ra - When I'm Feeling Another absolutely essential release.
Sebastian Tellier - Cochon Ville Super weird, super funky disco jam.
Get Down Edits - Two Timin' Lady The horns in here are just ridiculous!
NY AK - Tenderly Great little detroit house slow jammer.

Thanks man! I've been slightly obsessed with that "Monrovia" track, haha. You should check out more by Bufi and Juan Soto (also goes by La Royale) and the rest of Electrique Musique if you dig it, it's one of the best labels out there right now.

edit: listened to part of your mix, really liked what I heard! Going to listen to the rest of it on the train to work later.

While these two "major" releases can't and shouldn't be directly compared, speaking as someone who found the new Actress disappointing, Shackleton's Music for the Quiet Hour is completely stunning.

There was a guy next to me who seemed to be recording almost all of the show, so hopefully you'll be able to find something soon.
