Aftermovie of Defqon 2012 NSFW

I went to another edition of Defqon last weekend. The weather was so good that day, it really adds to the experience.

Fuuuuuuuuck that!

The only way I can describe gabber to people is
"Its the year 2050, robot Nazis rule the world and this is the industrial warcry of our machine rulers"

Just cannot see how people like that but each to their own and all that.

Edit: If its not Gabber (sounds like it to me) I apologize but yeah that is too much for even me haha

Hahaha no that's not gabber, al though there was a hardcore stage - which is referred to as gabber by a lot of non-europeans because of hardcore punk music, makes it less confusing. Definitely had a good time at that stage too. Your description of it is spot on though :p The thematics can get really ridiculous, to the point where it's getting annoying. The genre in the trailer is hardstyle btw, but it's some of the softer, more accessible fluff out there.

Add this to the pile of podcasts that seldomly updates (there is a backlog though), but they remain my favorite. They used to do weekly shows for WNUR in Evanston IL.

Clinically Inclined

I'm very sentimental over their B12 Special Broadcast (Part 2) and their Final Live Broadcast (Part 2).

m50 took over for Dave Siska and Matt MacQueen, which might be another podcast to check out.

Cheers dude. You're right, these don't update frequently at all but they're killer. Going through http://sonicsunset.com/ right now; some great mixes here, very different to what I'm used to.

Four Tet - Pink

1. Locked (8:30)
2. Lion (9:01)
3. Jupiters (5:48)
4. Ocoras (5:24)
5. 128 Harps (4:52)
6. Pyramid (8:27)
7. Peace for Earth (11:23)
8. Pinnacles (8:21)

I have been releasing a few vinyl only singles over the last year or so and this album called Pink brings together those tracks. It will be released on the 20th August as a digital release on my Text label and there will also be a CD release in Japan through Hostess Entertainment on the 22nd August. Two of the tracks, Lion and Peace For Earth, have not been released on vinyl yet but I plan to make that happen one day.

Odd coincidence I pick today of all days to wear my Fourtet T-shirt \o/

Liking Eric Prydz compilation album that I picked up yesterday.

Eric-Prydz-Presents-Pryda.jpg

I dont really have much music like his stuff even though I do quite enjoy it which is abit odd for me also Im hearing songs and I recognise them but I couldnt for the life of me tell you why I do.

Also got Shakelton- Music For The Quiet Hour / The Drawbar Organ to listen to but I get the impression I have to dedicate myself to it, abit like first time listening of say Burials Untrue. Not out of the small speaker setup I have at work while half distracted!

I dunno if this belongs here - and I'm guessing that several of you are already up on this - but the new Squarepusher album (Ufabulum) is really really good. If you've followed Squarepusher this could be called a return to form of sorts. Every track is brilliant.

Wanted to do a plug.dj or turntable fm combining my peeps from this thread and the gaf-hop thread, gaf-pop can also join if they'd like.

Don't know if anyone here frequents bleep.com to buy music, but they just released a compilation that spans the history of electronic music, beginning in 1930 and ending today. It's a pretty solid list, and has a number of obscure gems. I haven't heard of a bunch of the stuff, obviously, but there are some very worthwhile, and not all too surprising, mentions on the comp. Worth checking out!

Thanks, I bought it on a whim. The one thing I hate about bleep is how long flacs take to download.

I hated their download system until the latest update. I love being able to group releases into a single zip (junodownload has been doing that for ages), but I hate that you can only do it for FULL releases you purchase. I don't understand the logic behind it at all, but I'll put up with it for their rock bottom prices. So many tracks that go for $2.49 on Beatport go for $1.35 on bleep, and the vinyl sale prices are nice.

That A Guy Called Gerald track is niiiiiice.

Phew, back at work after a festival-weekend!

DJ-planning didn't work at all, saw no one I wanted to see. :D
But it was a great day, great weather, good music, friends, what more to want?

Some pics for an impression:

You didn't know that track? You mustn't have seen 24 Hour Party People then. Rectify that.

Hey all! My first post in this thread. :)

Here's a few songs I'm diggin' lately!

Above & Beyond - Black Room Boy
Hurts - Wonderful Life (Freemasons Club Mix)
Jean Elan feat. Cosmo Klein - Feel Alive
Laidback Luke feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn - Timebomb
Metrik - The Arrival (feat. Jan Burton)

As for albums, I've recently bought the Drive soundtrack and BT's "If the Stars Are Eternal So Are You and I"

I post a lot of electronica on my Blip.fm page. Do any of you have a blip.fm account? Just about everyone I follow stopped posting a year or two ago, so I'm looking for some more DJs. It's a good way to discover new tunes.

any of you guys into trash electro or acid electro? I have lots of good free trash, I want more acid. :)

For some good trash electro: you can sign up for an account a hardfm.ru and download their brain killer albums. there are really good. i've downloaded 47-55 and they're all great for the most part. some of the songs sound a little dubsteppy, but for the most part it's great. just bring a russian translator because you have to sign up to get the download links.

SWAG! Love free music. Excited to check out that FoF comp and that Love Letter album.

kylie_karnage: any links to songs? I have no idea what you're talking about, and that website is a clusterfuck.

ibrahima: dig that mix, man. I've always held a lot of admiration for DJs who can do D&B properly.

So hungover today, I'll be spending all my time checking out all the links posted. It's kind of almost too much.

Props! Didn't mean to come off so bitchy. Somehow that seemed funnier in my head.

ANYWAY, I see what you're talking about now. I used to be waaaaaay into that kind of stuff several years ago, 'specially when I first started using MDMA, but I've fallen out of it.

Christopher & Raphael Just - Popper (Shinichi Osawa Edit) used to be my JAM. Not exactly the same thing you're talking about, but hey :D

Holy fuck, I love that track! I prefer this version though (far cleaner to listen to, IMO). I think it's the Discotown mix, but it doesn't say in the YT link.

That first comment on the ZN link mentioning Stereosonic? Yeah, I saw him. Live.

Mindblowing.

PS. Acid* ^_^
*Especially loved the completely random reference to this track (including the specific remix) in an episode of Spaced. So awesome.

Another fantastic remix of the song I posted last page <3

Zedd - Spectrum (Savant Remix)
That's not too bad, actually! Has a very, VERY "young" sound to it somehow. Possibly from the slight Madeon/Porter Robinson vibe.

Edit: Fuck that, taking this post in a different direction.
Drama Society feat. Turner - Crying Hero (Tiga Remix) (ignore the crappy little synth in the first few seconds... it must be from a mix cd)
Sasse - Soul Sounds [Dirt Crew Solid Diamond Remix]
Both of the same mix CD, but the CD itself isn't *that* great (though I only just realised it had a Superpitcher track on it... go figure). But the above two songs are 100% worth the listening time alone.
