Got this from Blawan's twitter, this track is fucking INSANE. Who the hell is this guy?

Paul Birken - Acid Youth of Malibu

Edit: Apparently he's been around for awhile.

Edit2: Interesting thing about this guy, he put his his entire catalog up for free on Bandcamp. Stretching back to the early 90's.

Here's that new Scuba track dropping on the 29th:

"Talk Torque"

<3

I love this guy's stuff, it seriously wouldn't sound out of place in a '95 epic house set. It's no wonder why Sasha is a huge fan. "Never" is still my favorite track by him, and I dare say that "Personality" is shaping up to be my AOTY.

Right with you there.

Side note, how is a modern Tiesto show? He's gonna be in the area in February, but I've never heard any of his stuff. Tickets are only...$35 I think, so I might go.

There's always talk of singles/mixes/EP's in here, but what are some actual albums from 2012 I should check out? I have a few but feel like I'm missing out, what are your (y'alls) favorite 5 (electronic) albums of the year so far?

Good question! Hmmm

Maya Jane Coles- DJ Kicks mix/CD
Mala in Cuba
Grimes- Visions
Groundislava-Feel me
The Gas Lamp Killer- Breakthrough is really growing on me and I listen to atleast 3 tracks once a day

Hmm

No EPs?

My AOTY (at least, I think so) is Scuba's Personality.
Chromatics - Kill For Love (not sure if that counts)
How To Dress Well - Love Remains
Deadmau5 - >Album Title Goes Here<

Fuck, half that barely counts. EDM guys seem to have issues putting out LPs. Theres lots I haven't checked out yet though.

Albums are as archaic as the 70 minute mix, but since you asked nicely.

The Orb - The Orbserver in the Star House
Nathan Fake - Steam Days
Dan Deacon - America
Maria Minerva - Will Happiness Find Me?
Deepchord - Sommer

You could check out Holy Other - Held, it was the one album I was really looking forward to. It wasn't all that I hoped it to be but still good and worth a listen...if you're into mellow tunes that is.

Lorn - Ask The Dust (the best electronica album of 2012 by far, in my opinion)
Shed - The Killer (almost tied to 1st place)
Eprom - Metahuman (a super-solid 2nd place)
Holy Other - Held
VA - Modeselektor presents Modeselektion Vol. 2
Robot Koch - Cosmic Waves (more of a lengthy EP than album, but still, <3)
Mala - Mala In Cuba (great original dubstep!)

To my tastes, 2012 is the best electronica year ever, and I've been super-active since 1999.

So that Jacques Greene mix was pretty damn good. Not a fan of the dub/two-step (I think?) stuff toward the end, but by and large it was an interesting, challenging mid to listen to. I like being challenged, and this was almost on a par with the Robag Wruhme set I experienced a year or two ago.

Yeh, Apparat was fantastic as were Casselle and Luke Porter. Didn't catch much of Digweed though, that room was heaving, obviously, and I'm getting too old to be sardine dancing.

That Fabric mix looks lumping phenomenal. The few times I saw him live were all mind-searingly good. The man is a genius and makes it all look so effortless.

He's a sex pot to boot, and a giant. Super intimidating guy, but is actually really nice once you approach him. Saw him at Public Assembly last year, really intimate show and so bananas people were dancing on the speaker stacks. At one point, he actually managed to blow a fuse causing everything to stop. 5 minutes later, they got it up and running and he just pushed that system even harder. It was never too loud, though, which was the amazing part, I don't understand how he can push the sounds out he does without compromising any quality or making everyone's ears bleed.

Him and Marcel Dettmann have been absolutely destroying it this past year or so.
