Ok this seems like a good spot for this question.

I'm a DJ looking to get into electronic/electro house/electro music of some sort. I really dig MSTRKRFT, Digitalism, Boys Noize and would like to hear some recommendations of artists in that vein. Where is a good spot to 'learn' about new releases of this style of music?

Deck'ard, not sure if you know, but ibar has got a brief mention in mixmag this month. Just says this... 'The newest addition is ibar, the venue of choice for afterparties, secret gigs, celebrity dj spots and up and coming musicians. Its a tiny venue that can only host a few hundred people, making nights feel exclusive and intimate.'

Very interested in hearing this... Zed Bias was one of the people who laid the groundwork for what would later be called 'dubstep'.

Have you heard of 'doublestep'? I see it popping up on blogs, I am not sure if I like it.

That Foamo mix is a banger recommend it to everyone.

Meh, I got a new puppy recently and have been majorly slacking on my feeds, got it down from 1000+ to 547 currently! Don't really have time to follow timelines and releases though, just catching up. =)

Everyone needs this, now. It's a superb mix and one I'll be listening to for a while. The standout moment for me is "Yeke Yeke (afro acid mix)," it's the perfect peak hour track. The thing that sucks is they totally, utterly drop the ball with "Chiclet's Theme," what an awful song and really brings the whole thing down, but they make it up with "Eucalypse Now!"

Seriously, a really great mix.

edit: I only have disc one, so I have no idea how disc two is (I hear it's not as good).

Don't take this as a personal attack, but should I infer from your last sentence that you did not buy this? Even though "it's a superb mix and one [you]'ll be listening to for a while"? If you've bought only the first disc digitally, then I'm sorry, but otherwise I have a hard time understanding being so enthusiast yet not rewarding those involved in creating this mix, especially since it's dirt cheap at play.com...

By the way, I think the first mix is OK, and I love "Yeke Yeke", but I prefer the second one, even though it's all over the place without any real flow, I guess it's more fun/cheesy :D

i got a question guys. where do you buy your music? i live in canada and there really isn't any good places to buy electronic albums, eps, etc. i'm trying to find a store online that will ship to canada, preferrably accepts paypal, and is fairly priced. i don't want to download them, i want the actual discs delivered so i can rip the tracks myself.

seconded for excellent taste. one of the best mixtapes available. Can't agree on "Chiclet's theme" though. Love the feel-good vibe of this mix.

Don't worry about not having the second CD. you ain't missing much.

i missed my chance to see him live. so lame. i first found out about him the day he played in calgary.

he played in Victoria the same night I was playing. only ended up making $50 that night too :-/. my friends told me it was epic.
