Anyone that listened to my most recent little mix have any opinions on it?

James Blake on tuesday aww yeah! Not seen him do a non DJ set so should be good!

I gave it a quick listen on my laptop speakers and found it pretty good! The tracklist is nice. I'll have to give it a proper listen and tear apart your transitions ;D

What you're doing is good, though. Just start mixing a bunch of shit up, different genres and speeds, and record ALL OF IT. It's the best way to get better. If you have a huge fuck up, just keep going. What'll happen is you'll get your transitions down, then you'll be able to work more on your flow, and then it'll just fall into place. A good friend of mine always told me to think of it like a big puzzle game. Sometimes the best piece is the one you least expect.

Also, new Lusine is decent at best, but some of the remixes are absolutely killer.

Haha please do. Sometimes I listen and I think "yeah that sounds like how it "should" sound" and then others I think its total shite.
Ill then listen to a proper mix and think what ive done is not so far off what a "pro" would do, atleast how I hear and interpret it.

Im also trying to stick to what I have in terms of library as well to stop me throwing in stuff Ive listened too a couple of times before buying and then trying to cram it in somehow.
Also I dont have any kind of effects, literally low-mid-top, volume, jog, and pitch control as I cant get effects to work on mine mixtrack.
I actively avoid using sync also unless for example in that mix I want a song slowed down so much the pitch slider isnt enough, Say 120bpm to 90 or whatever)

So much to learn thats for sure.

Don't bother learning the effects until you get the basics down. Also, bravo on not using sync. It's important to at least understand HOW to beat match (it's also way more fun.) Sync is something that you shouldn't be afraid to use, though, because you can do some really creative things with it (such as pitch-bending a track over/under 10%). It's only lame when you use sync to basically just play a playlist. Sync is also invaluable if you are doing an extended set, as it allows you to kind of take a break for 15 minutes before diving back in. Also, I recommend using your keyboard for play/cue and not your controller's buttons. The lag between your controller and laptop is enough where hitting play on beat is almost guaranteed to start the song a beat off.

Found these mixes earlier, they are under James Blakes 1-800 Dinosaur label/night so pretty interesting looking atleast.

Might 2. James Blake - Four Miles [Unreleased] be something from his new album or an older song?

I did until Christmas! my brother bought me a Mixtrack Pro so I have that linked up to Traktor now :)

The dubstep mix was the first one I recorded that has left my hard drive!

Or you could just buy a pair of Technics, become Move D and get all the ladies.

Or! Go to your countrys Talent- show and put up a travesty like this one hahah. Finland represents!

Haha I stayed away from turntables as I cant afford £7 a go for Vinyl! and the space!!
Nearly everyone I know and go out with Djs with Vinyl though which gives me an extra push to stay away from the sync button for all but the most extreme mixing!

How was the gig thing that you won via that comp? It was this weekend just gone right?

I will personally come and slap your hand every time you reach for the sync button. Fuck that shit.

Haha like I said its only used when the pitch slider wont take the song down far enough.
Ofcourse if there is a way to do that without sync Im all ears!

Then you shouldnt be mixing that track if the tempo is that far off.

Comes with time man. Like anything else. Practice. Practice. Practice.

Just dont use the poser button, unless you have like 4 tracks on the go.

Yeah it was last friday! For my own part it went good but the party promoters and other DJs who played that evening were kinda douchebags. The main promoter was a cool guy and knew what was up, but god the other guys.
I'm from Tampere myself (second largest city in Finland) and the gig was in Helsinki (the biggest city) and the culture difference is really noticeable, everyone seems to be more rude, snobby, liberal and all that hippie stuff lol.
The gear was 2x cdj2000-nexus and djm-900 nexus, I've never played with those, and I was practicing with them before my gig. Some guy comes up and sticks his usb into the cdj and puts the channel up and just starts clowning with the hotcue buttons with Mr Oizo - Flat Beat and forces me to go away from the gear. He could've like ASKED and I would've moved.
Was playing with DJ Onemans style, really hyperaggressive, bangin stuff house, techno, uk bass and all that with about 128bpm. The next DJ comes up and tells me to lower the bpm with about 7bpms. I said okay okay, but really. If the night is divided into slots between Djs, the DJs play their own sets. You don't have to blend the sets together, it is really awkward.

Oh and I started my set 10 minutes late because this one douchebag decided to set up his traktor 5 minutes before my slot. He could have done that during the last hour he was in the building..

Oh yeah I know the no more than +-10 bpm (though I prefer +-5) my example is just the one instance I found a use for it, which was in the most recent mix I did slowing down
Floating points- myrtle Avenue from 120 to 93 (off the top of my head) and that sounded ok at that speed. 99% of the time it does not however haha

My Bleep Green 002 vinyl should arrive anyday now, I've been blasting that Benjamin Damage album for the last day or two, and I've also ordered that SHXCXCHCXSH vinyl and can't wait for it.

I am kind of in love with this guy right now: Massimiliano Pagliara

I mean, come on.

Can't wait to get my hands on the new Locked Groove. And fuck that SCHSHAFJHFSAHAF bullshit. That name is horse shit, and, frankly, they aren't very good.

That Awakenings Festival line-up makes me so sad on the inside.

Awesome night. 6+ hours jamming with Thabiz and Okno.

Amazing stuff from Triphop to Dub and DnB to Prog house.

Woke up today with the last song I heard (Regis' 'Blinding Horse') still in my head. Bummer that the history doesn't show the whole night. I should've written down more of the stuff you and 'biz played, ah well. Seven hours of music, ooph... I was pretty distracted, too, so I wasn't really playing my a-game, but it was a great night all around.

Excited to sink my teeth into that FitzgeraldB2BScuba mix. I watched the first 15 minutes of it and it was pretty nuts, although Scuba was a total hog and was pretty much dictating everything.
