What's the verdict on Thomas Gold as a DJ though? I know he's a capable producer but have yet to hear anything on the DJ front.

Just looked through the last several pages with CTRL+F and "Pictureplane" but found nothing. I suppose no one has listened to Dark Rift then. I started listening to it a week or so ago, and it's not bad, it has some lo-fi noise with some good beats and whatnot. Some of his music reminds me of Susumu Hirasawa, but it's not really like that.

His vocals are quite soft, and the female vocals are always really nicely layered in, imo.

I will admit I am not familiar witha ny of the artists on that list... apart from of course Todd Edwards, and the fact that "Acid Eiffel" is one of those classic progressive trance songs.

The key is to get to know Kingdom. He is blowing up, big time. His Mind Reader EP comes out a few days before he plays Fabric.

Here is what Fader has to say about this latest mix:

The first time we ever saw Kingdom DJ was maybe four years ago at a party at some HIGHLY dubious Williamsburg makeshift warehouse/unfinished room, where we were semi-convinced we were going to contract an airborne disease. Something esoteric, like mold poisoning. Kingdom was great and DJing rap, if we recall, and someone was playing an amazing animated GIF of Remy Ma in what looked like the “Buffalo Stance” video on a pretty busted television screen. He was our friend’s friend and our roommate got sloppy but we deleted the photos. Fast forward to now. yep, I live in NJ. I met him through a friend that went to highschool with Eco. It's pretty amazing how quickly he's risen in the genre. I remember seeing him for the first time he did the opening set at Club Shelter. His set was amazing, then Martin Roth played and we all left. lol :lol

They are quite sought after for their remix work as well, lots of good ones about. Not many people know about the album though, don't think it's even had a release outside Japan yet. I bought it on instinct in Tokyo not knowing who they were or what they sounded like, purely cos I liked their name and the album artwork. Result!

I could put the entire thing up in XML so that you can import the entire list into a RSS reader of your choice, I recommend Google Reader, that is how I follow them. This list will generate about 50-75 posts a day which roughly comes out to about 5-10 320 mp3s, 5-10 promos and a couple mixes a day. For free! Plus lots of cool stories to read!

My favorites would be ones that host their own files, give out HQ songs often, and focus on house. They are all good but if I had to pick a few I would go with:

The nice thing with Google is it figures the feed out for you, just dump the website or blog address into their "add sub" box and it does the rest for you.

Youtube digging with Kingdom

Here's a line lifted straight out of NYC royalty - and Fool's Gold famalam - Kingdom's biography: "Kingdom may play everything from kuduro to juke, but R&B is his first love, and it shows in his bass-heavy remixes and original tracks, often featuring R&B vocal samples on top of his trademark production style - what some have called 'a Brooklyn take on the UK garage sound.'"

Anyone using hypem.com? It basically funnels many MP3 Blogs and when you register you can select blogs you want to follow.
You can also heart (fav) songs and get a feed based on artists as they pop up on the blogs.
Klick on "Read full post »" and you get to the blog and can mostly download the soundfile.
The search is useful as well.
