Are you in Canada? You like fucking awesome electro? You should be at one or all of these shows! http://bankai.fm/canada

Feb 20th - Vancouver
Twisted 2010 Rave Facebook Event Page
There are other high profile DJs showing up to this, even if you aren't interested in Bankai or Bearbot, you should attend.

Feb 23rd - Kelowna
More info soon, check out http://bankai.fm/canada for details. It is supposedly going to be at http://www.kelownaluxurypenthouse.com/ which is super sick. Limited tickets, awesome party, details are on the Bankai.fm site.

Sorry for the caps, copy and pasted from a site, didn't feel like rewriting it. As well, this may seem like blatant advertising, I am just a friend of Bankai, love his music, can't go to any of the shows, want to see some Gaffers loving it like I do.

Going to the above tonight... strangely enough, the performance I'm looking forward to the most is from Scotty D, a very, very close friend of mine. If his set gets recorded tonight, I'll do my darndest to upload it here for you all!

What's the verdict on Thomas Gold as a DJ though? I know he's a capable producer but have yet to hear anything on the DJ front.

The Most Dangerous Yes Man
Just looked through the last several pages with CTRL+F and "Pictureplane" but found nothing. I suppose no one has listened to Dark Rift then. I started listening to it a week or so ago, and it's not bad, it has some lo-fi noise with some good beats and whatnot. Some of his music reminds me of Susumu Hirasawa, but it's not really like that.

His vocals are quite soft, and the female vocals are always really nicely layered in, imo.

Previews:

Goth Star

Trance Doll

You really need to look up. Not only has it been broken up, but you have to download each of the hours individually. The better question is whether you can get a file that is all 24 hours combined into one MP3.

Also I guess this is related?

According to Aussie music site Undercover, a source close to Daft Punk has leaked the bands proposed tour dates for 2010.

The tour is alleged to kick off at Le Zénith in Paris, France on July 30, 2010 and will take them across Europe, down under to Australia via North America before winding up at the MEN Arena in Manchester, UK on September 6.

Here’s a sample of how kick ass daft Punk are in concert.

The full leaked dates are as follows:

JULY
30 – Le Zénith, Paris, France
AUGUST
1 – Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam, Netherlands
3 – Allianz-Arena, Munich, Germany
5 – The O2, Dublin, Ireland
7 – Parc Des Sports, Nice, France
15 – Yankee Stadium, New York, NY
22 – Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney, Australia
28 – Olympic Park Stadium, Melbourne, Australia
SEPTEMBER

if they come within a 12 hour drive to me, i am driving to them!

but my parents promised they'd fly me and my bro to see them wherever they next performed so i'm not concerned. i just would rather them be close enough to drive to.

shame that the electro event above is just a merch making party in vic.
Its a house party too. The details are still in flux as far as I know, but it sounds like it is for those die hard fans that wouldnt mind making merch. Bankai is all about do it yourself, he releases all his music stems on his website as well as all images for shirts and designs.

I will admit I am not familiar witha ny of the artists on that list... apart from of course Todd Edwards, and the fact that "Acid Eiffel" is one of those classic progressive trance songs.

Oh yeah... anybody in this thread going to WMC/Ultra this year? I have a wedding so I will miss Ultra, but I should be there for Tues-Thurs of WMC.

The key is to get to know Kingdom. He is blowing up, big time. His Mind Reader EP comes out a few days before he plays Fabric.

Here is what Fader has to say about this latest mix:

The first time we ever saw Kingdom DJ was maybe four years ago at a party at some HIGHLY dubious Williamsburg makeshift warehouse/unfinished room, where we were semi-convinced we were going to contract an airborne disease. Something esoteric, like mold poisoning. Kingdom was great and DJing rap, if we recall, and someone was playing an amazing animated GIF of Remy Ma in what looked like the “Buffalo Stance” video on a pretty busted television screen. He was our friend’s friend and our roommate got sloppy but we deleted the photos. Fast forward to now. Kingdom is basically running New York, producing some of our favorite songs, DJing terrific sets all over the world and has since upgraded to legendary London megaclub FABRIC this February 5th, as part of the Fool’s Gold night (also celebrating his long awaited Mind Reader EP, out a few days before that). To celebrate everything, he put together this promo mix showcasing everything we’ve come to expect from his live sets: the warmest selections of UK funky, clacking syncopated bass and his own mind-melting, well put together beats. It’s stuff so good it will certainly never be played in squalor again (unless it is us playing it off our iPods in our apartment). Tracklist after the jump.

OAR003 is a godly release, wish there was a re-press. I'm guessing he's playing the B side in this mix.
I'll have to pick this up!

Seems rather fishy, Le Zénith is three times smaller than Bercy where they played their last Paris date...

my friend Marcello a.k.a. DJ Eco is doing ASOT 450 in April. Pretty siked for him and the event. Going to be a crazy night.

Are you a tri-state area person perchance? I caught DJ Eco at Love once before, and he is a fellow Tranceaddict poster. His productions are blowing up big time, I don't really follow trance anymore but seems every other song I hear is by him, so that's cool.

Wow im glad I looked up that guy he does some awesome remixes and the few ive heard of his are also right up my alley :D
Also seeing if I can talk the mrs and a few mates into going to Fabric on the 5th, if I do manage to get there ill let you know how it gos

yep, I live in NJ. I met him through a friend that went to highschool with Eco. It's pretty amazing how quickly he's risen in the genre. I remember seeing him for the first time he did the opening set at Club Shelter. His set was amazing, then Martin Roth played and we all left. lol :lol

DECK'ARD

The Amiga Brotherhood
If you like Daft Punk/Justice/Digitalism/Midnight Juggernauts then check out 80kidz from Japan. Starting with this truly EPIC sounding track. Blew me away the first time I heard it, and still does with so many layers and little touches to the sound. Some brilliant production.

80kidz - Flying Buttress
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k46Ewd9geaQ

Their album This Is My Shit is my favourite electronic album in a long time actually. Killer track after killer track right from the start, and some very original stuff in the second half of the abum.

80kidz - This Is My Shit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsmgNWf9a60

80kidz - Reflex
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIoEmivweqM

They are quite sought after for their remix work as well, lots of good ones about. Not many people know about the album though, don't think it's even had a release outside Japan yet. I bought it on instinct in Tokyo not knowing who they were or what they sounded like, purely cos I liked their name and the album artwork. Result! :D

MGMT - Kids (80kidz Remix)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xr0ps9K9pQ

More people need to know about 80kidz. Fact.

I could put the entire thing up in XML so that you can import the entire list into a RSS reader of your choice, I recommend Google Reader, that is how I follow them. This list will generate about 50-75 posts a day which roughly comes out to about 5-10 320 mp3s, 5-10 promos and a couple mixes a day. For free! Plus lots of cool stories to read!

My favorites would be ones that host their own files, give out HQ songs often, and focus on house. They are all good but if I had to pick a few I would go with:

Here's a line lifted straight out of NYC royalty - and Fool's Gold famalam - Kingdom's biography: "Kingdom may play everything from kuduro to juke, but R&B is his first love, and it shows in his bass-heavy remixes and original tracks, often featuring R&B vocal samples on top of his trademark production style - what some have called 'a Brooklyn take on the UK garage sound.'"

So it comes as no surprise that, when we prompted Kingdom to send us 5 random youtube finds, this was the result. 5 dope little gems, and no less varied and unexpected than his righteous DJ sets. Go on and indulge.
