Future Music Festival on this weekend in Melbourne, AU. Looking forward to Dubfire, Sven Vath and Bag Raiders the most, I think! Oh, Spankrock and motherfucking JAYTECH!!! Pumped. Have to miss the last hour or so because of my mate who plays in Geelong (about an hour away) but it should still be a good day out, weather permitting.

Next on the chopping block is Creamfields about two months away... The Bloody Beetroots Death Crew 77, Steve Angello, MSTRKRFT, Ferry Corsten, LMFAO, Dave Clarke, Marco V, Green Velvet, Dirty South, Kid Sister, Joris Voorn, Lifelike, Riva Starr, Tommie Sunshine. Just a copypasta of the acts but there's definitely some nice ones there. Lifelike, Riva Starr, Green Velvet all must-sees, imo.

I don't really follow the genre anymore, but Ferry Corsten is probably the best strictly trance DJ out there, and a really great and humble bloke as well. Go see him!

What a strange lineup. The only act I would kill to see would Be Fantastic Mr. Fox @ the Foam stage, that would be insane!

I saw Ferry a few years back at Summadayze... his set went for about 3 hours (felt like more) and every track sounded the same :/ The only way we knew there were track transitions was when he fucked up the beat matching :lol

I agree though, it's an obscure lineup for both events... but Australian parties are rarely 100% awesome. Couldn't imagine the effort it would take to bring out that many people at the same time to somewhere so (relatively) remote.

im going to be doing some practice mixing at a friends party coming up in a few weeks. any tips for a first little show? i wouldn't say its really a show since its not a huge party haha just friends and friends of friends.

im now having a horrible thought that some drunkass is gonna spill a drink on my apc40 or computer.

but yeah any advice would be great!!

Well, the weather was shithouse at Future on Sunday... the 30 min walk to the OFFICIAL car park was complete B/S, especially considering it was pissing down on the walk back (with no coat and umbrellas were banned). So, only really got to see the following (as most of the day was spent at the one sheltered stage).

Dubfire - Incredibly flat, boring set. Never went anywhere, just chugged along and didn't push any envelopes.
Sven Vath - OH MY GOD. Best two hour set I've ever seen at a festival... 100% vinyl (so no looping/fucking around, just the music speaking for itself), ultra-clean prog-tech music the whole way and the flow of the 2-hour set was unlike anything I'd seen before. Not forgetting the amount of energy he shows while playing, too... just amazing.
and a handful for only a few minutes:
Jaytech - Only saw for around 10 mins, seemed to stick with relatively mellow minimal-trance the time I was there. Not amazing but far from shit.
Spankrock - Interesting, but nothing that blew my mind. It felt like I was watching a washed-down version of N.E.R.D. at times.
Eric Morillo - Ultra, ultra commercial. Show Me Love? Sex is on Fire? Ugh.

Overall, whilst I didn't see a heck of a lot of acts, the price of entry was completely worth it just for Sven Vath. Doubt any other DJ I see this year will top what he did.

That song is one that really stuck out on your mix, on the subject of that I preferred the later half of it but it was still quality.

Crookers album is real strange but theres a few songs I like on it, their alternative version of Day and Nite is worth a listen atleast :lol

This is hardly ground breaking, neither am I certain if my skillz are any good. However, I've completed my first ever mix of progressive house/trance music.

Most of the tracks are more widely known from the UK House/Trance scene in the early 90's but there are a few more recent tracks in the mix too. (Just because the music is old doesn't mean it still can't kick ass!!)

really looking forward to it! i'm seeing them at the end of this month. anybody else seen them before? this isn't an etard show right? i can just drink? haha because i went to benassi a month ago and i felt myself bored a lot of times because the show was like just for tripping people out while they're high.
