I noticed the lack of shirtless scenes too. :lol

I think the last one was the season 7 premiere when he was playing Bizarro.

We have Oliver for that now.

What happened with Bizarro? I've completely forgotten. Is he still around?

Clark did look pretty young in Season 1. Not 14 but I remember being blown away when I found out how old Welling actually was.

It's on tonight! I'm tempted to make a thread for the episode specifically, like someone is doing for Supernatural. But I'm at work and dunno if I even should.

Chalk this rumor up with a truck load of salt but a source is claiming that his contacts in Vancouver have told him that Warner wants to turn Smallville into a full out Superman show with costume and all and that is why they went back and quickly refilmed parts of Doomsday. According to him the Superman costume is already made and almost made it into "Doomsday" but that the producers decided to launch it in season nine. His post:

**UPDATE**

Since I barely have enough time for my own website let alone try and look at others, I have no idea if this has been announced anywhere yet. So if it has, great. If not, yay for me...

1. Tom Welling has not only signed for a 9th season, but a 10th as well.
2. Discussions have been taking place to transition the show into a full blown Superman series as it's been 13 years since we had one and WB wants talk of Welling and the film franchise to die off quietly. I was completely dead on with my assumption that Doomsday being buried was a set-up for next season. They have something really huge planned.
3. The suit was designed and would have been in the final episode if they did not get a 9th season, but Welling apparently now feels it should not be brought into the show yet. This could change if it goes all out Superman.

So says Exec Producer Brian Peterson....

I also asked him some questions on his blog and he responded. You can read everything said and the comments here:

I don't know anything about this guy or how accurate he is but I would like to believe that he believes in what he is saying and to be honest, it does sound logical at this point to bring Superman into the fold and I would also like to believe that they would increase the mediocre budget to help make this show again. If they actually did this stuff then I think the shows ratings would skyrocket again.

So what do you guys think? Time to get excited or would you prefer to wait until Comic Con for more information? :D

I really am skeptical about that. I would be shocked if they started season 9 by making him into Superman. I mean, that would require a nice upgrade in budget, no? I do not WANT to see this become a Superman show with the budget we have now.

^ :lol

So Dawn Ostroff (head of the CW) stated that she intends to have Smallville last ten seasons. So that is what the CW is aiming for. Now let's get Tom Welling to wear the Superman costume (like the producers want him to).

'Smallville' scoop: Are they casting Zod?!
May 27, 2009, 06:11 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Categories: Smallville

It sure sounds like it based on this season 9 casting notice that just fell into my lap:

MASON: Late 20's early 30's. He's a handsome charismatic charmer who savors life. He appreciates good food, loves fast cars and sees beauty in every woman. There isn't a detail in life that eludes his senses. He is a master of seduction... knowing what everyone wants and needs before they do. But don't let his magnetism fool you. There's more than meets the eye. His intelligence can't be matched. He outmaneuvers everyone in his path. Though he longs to find a home, that vulnerability can be twisted -- making him a force to be reckoned with."

Thoughts?!

That ain't Zod.

On the KryptonSite forums, people are speculating that it could be a character called "Metamorpho" since his real name is Mason.

The character description didn't sound too much like Metamorpho the Element Man.

I don't think so. Zod already looks like a human anyways so why would they need a shell for him. No, I'm thinking that this is either somebody else, a misleading description of the character to set people off the trail of who this character is or it's indeed the new Zod. I don't think Zod is going to come into Smallville and start singing songs, flirting with girls, etc but we will have to wait and see.

A Erica Durance detail:

"...from crew! ED was offered major feature film but was unable to commit due to early season Smallville obligation. She begins filming Smallville July 7th on first episode of season 9, that may possibly take her into the first 10 episodes!"
