Grandia III sounds really awesome! Could it be released in NA this year?
I personally doubt it, with Radiata, Dragon Warrior 8 and Kingdom Hearts II all set to be released this winter, Square's got a full plate for the rest of the year that they've been building up since E3. I'd speculate a domestic release for Grandia III next spring / summer. And while we're speculating, I'm under the mindset that Kingdom Hearts II will hit NA in mid-December, just in time for Christmas, much like Final Fantasy X.

Do you think any of those will reach Europe this year? I hope so :(

Message from Matsuno

Could someone translate this please? Thank you :)

Yay. Finally official word. Basically the producer says Matsuno has had a long illness and had to be taken off the project as a director (still has supervisional input) and the staff is working hard at staying true to what he started.

Then there's a bit from Matsuno who apologizes for the game delay and regrets not being hands-on with the project at the moment but he says the game is in great hands and everyone is working to make an awesome game.

Well that's good news. He's probably keeping phone / email contact with them too to keep them on track. :)

Staff page is updated now:

It's the best in the series.

though Squall was abit hard to like(zell makes up for it), FF8 is damn good.

+Tetramaster is the best minigame ever
+The limitbreaks are totally bad ass. My final Heaven and Leonhart? omg.
+Being able to score like 1 million HP is cool.
+GF junction system is a work of genius
+Uematsu at his best. Man with the machinegun, yeah!

OMG FF8 FLAMEWARS BEGIN!!

But yes, FF8 is my favorite- first off, the story is the best in the series. It is so layered and complex, I love it (although some more Laguna would have been nice). And even though it's a little too menu-y, the junction system is great too. It's the only FF game where you can have random encounters turned off within the first 5 hours, and because of refine abilities and draw points, you don't really need to be fighting too many battles. Pumping up Squall's strenth stat and going out and wreaking having is awesome as well. All around great game.

I had rather used less Laguna moments.

I met Kitase this weekend, and I told him FFVIII was my favorite and that I really want to see Compilation of FFVIII on PS3. I also told him that I spoke for all American gamers and FFVIII was by far the most popular game with American audiences.*

*The second half of this paragraph is not true.

While we are at it, isn't FF8 the highest selling FF game worldwide?

I believe so, though I don't have the numbers off hand. I think FFVIII outsold VII in Japan, though VII outsold VIII in the U.S. Dunno Europe.

EDIT: Solidsnakex, do you have some secret repository of stupid Japanese girl clips that the rest of us should know about?

I think the reason is everyone had a case of RPG fever after Final Fantasy 7 so everyone and their mom bought FF8. FF8 brought everyone back down to earth and made them realize that RPGs werent for everyone... queue FF9 sales.

I'm glad we're getting Compilation of Boring FFVII out of the way on PS2--so that the Laguna war stories FPS, Jam With Selphie's Band, and Quistis Trepe Teaches Typing can all be on PS3, where they belong!

Dont forget Zell dincht eating and martial arts habits!

I've been looking at the games that Square Enix are releasing, and I must say that this is the first time in a long while that I've gotten excited for their releases. Unfortunatley, they needed to become a behemoth of a company to start releasing so many varied titles, but I guess it's all for the best.

did anyone capture a video of the new FF XII trailer and gameplay footage that was shown at this show?

it seems strange that SE did not let the media"IGN,gamespot" get the new trailer.

and why didnt IGN cam the event?
