1up has Richard Li, but other than that I know of no other trustworthy fighting game fans who do game coverage. Jeff Gerstmann seems to know a lot more than most but doesn't go for crazier games (blazblue, tatsunoko).
Was that the guy that played with Haunts, Combofiend and Magus in that stream before SFIV came out? That guy beasted everyone with Bison.

People complaining about the lack of skill in previews are asses. Just be happy the game is relevant enough to warrant coverage of the game.

I think Sirlin's thinking was more along the lines of having characters get up quickly by default but having a command to allow for slower wakeup. Same thing as is usually implemented but in reverse.

On his forums, he advocates VF-style wakeups is what he'd like to do if he was designing from scratch. Would work I think.

Ah yes! Game informer thank you so much for gracing us with a video of one of your incompetent editors getting knocked over by 5 barrels in a row!

Oh sweet! He used Juri's CC Ultra! We're gonna see something cool!

Random fireball, random fireball, cr. mk, KO

...

It's Gameinformer, not a die-hard fighting game website. Do you have any idea what their workload is like? No. They may not have die-hard fighting game fans available to put on some amazing display of combos for you or even the time to record a fight that pleases you. You're expecting way too much out of a general preview like that. Sounds like the ungrateful "you suck" comments left on Rock Band youtube videos where people are merely trying to show others what the song looks like. Who cares if the barrels kicked his ass? Did you get the idea of how the bonus stage looks and works. Yup.

Before Richard Li there was... me! :P

LPN. I think he plays Akuma now too.

No, it was actually Richard Li. Richard Li has a good Dictator and was the one hosting the Second 1up Game Night with SFIV (which had Haunts, Magus, etc).

And Oichi, what's up with the Japanese gamers? Are they just shrugging their shoulders (do the shoulder shrug, do the shoulder shrug).

Holy crap; my Amazon order for the TE sticks shipped from a warehouse in PA - same state I live in - and UPS says it'll be here /tomorrow morning/. Wii!!

Ok, now I run to line up:

SFIV
BlazBlue
Tekken 6
SCIV
DoA4
Virtua Fighter 5
MvC2
Mark of the Wolves

... on the 360 to test these bastards out with.

I even got my battop handles and brass adapter for the Sanwa sticks ordered from Lizardlick. I have downloaded the template for custom faceplate art. Photoshop is primed. I have ink in the printer. I have local comp.

Okay. Here we go.

THE DAWN SHALL BRING A DAY OF PUNCHING

Ugh, Find was right. The editors they had playing the game were terrible. There was literally a flow chart Adon, who just kept spamming rising jaguar.

I like the new backgrounds, even the music was cool. Too bad the old Russian stage is the same. I like Cody's win pose where he walks off the screen and says, "You Suck!"

Also, I noticed that Juri's ultra CC continues despite her opponent hitting her. I don't remember if Yun was like that.

Their editor Dan (who wrote the preview) has put more than 80 hours in the game. And their editor Joe Juba is a big fan of the game, and who knows how long he's played.

Not to dogpile (I don't really expect top notch play in various press videos, they got other shit to play), but 80 hours is nothing in Fighting games.

Also:
Elena appears in the Africa level (rides an ostrich?)
Oro appears in Dhalsims level (rummaging through garbage)
Alex picks a fight with Hugo in the Metro City level. Rolento lowers himself sometimes.
Urien and Gill cameo in Seth's level
Remy and Charlie could also appear in the plane in Guiles level
Twelve can be seen drowning in lava in volcano stage
Sean could play basketball with coconuts in Blanka's level
Karin could be on the SIN ship in the background with her waiter
Necro could haunt the Russian train level

Not only that, a person could invest a million hours in the game and not learn a thing.

LOL that would be great if Yun's Genei Jin ran out if you hit him. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

its a shame sakuras new art has already been called dibs on, otherwise i'd be all over that.

as for her ultra, oh yea baby, come to papa. [hard to count the hits though, it looks like 3-4 hits killed cammy, i think]. Deffo weaker then her current ultra, but for people like me who never use it as is, its brilliant if only for its anti air and mid range strengths.

@Dizzy: Sakura is above the petty spinning of the lesser street fighters.

I meant that in regards of them being die-hard fighting fans with their workloads. My fault for the miscommunication.

wow, 48kg? sakuras small.

damn, lots of the street fighters are small. im only 3kg short of geif. O.o
Yeah there's no way that Sagat is only 78kg I don't see how it's even possible to be that tall and only weigh 78kg especially with how buff he is.

Edit: Beaten

I was hoping they were holding off on Rose's Ultra cause they were going to change it. :(

I heard someone explain it like this, most characters don't get to land their ultra every single round, because they have a limited number of ways to combo them. Rose is pretty much guaranteed to be able to use hers whenever she has it tho, there's pretty much zero risk.

well yea, but short of it being fireball immune and an overhead it'll never not chip.

it seems its only really powerful if you have a lead and they have to come to you.

It disappears after a certain time, and goes away on block (doesn't do that much block damage)... It has issues, but if it hits, does some good damage...

So its timed but with no timer? Ehh.....
