The Order: 1886 Delayed Into 2015. [Stop talking about MS lineup]

Oh hey, look. It's the "YOU DON'T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE HERE SO YOU SHOULDN'T TALK" line of defense.

A little ironic too, considering how much time a lot of us spend here on GAF critiquing various developments in the industry.

I guess we should stop talking about just about everything, since very little of us actually have anything to do with Game Development.

Your post is just embarrassing and ignorant

1. Go to school for game design and programming.

2. Start company
3. Hire people
4. Come up with a completly new IP
5. Develop said game

And than come back and tell GAF how easy it was to get a game shipped without any delays and staying on budget.

They should rename the game to 1887 to account for the lost year

Isn't it more like 4-6 months at the most?

you keep saying feburary, that's pretty optimistic given that they're "targeting early 2015".

i mean, we all know what "targeting" means when it comes to AAA development. especially in regards to a period as vaguely defined as "early 2015".

wasn't #DRIVECLUB: PLEASE RT originally delayed until "early 2014"?

February comes from 'insiders', early 2015 comes from the Ready at Dawn post. I assume February is what they mean though.

Don't know why they do this. Any exclusive right now is a guarantied multi million seller. See KZ SF and second son. One a criminaly bad sp game and the other a fife hour open world game.
Cut the games to a manageable length and push it out. Care about the rest in the sequel.

Awful post.

SF has an excellent MP component, and InFamous is not only very good, it's not 5 hours long either. My first play through took me 15+ hours, second around 10 hours.

I think Sony want to avoid rushed releases like SF and Knack, and keep up the quality of new releases, especially for new IP's like The Order which could be prominent in future.

Was launch. Then early 2014. Then first half of 2014. Then October.

Yeesh. So, as of right now, Sony has no big 1st party title for the fall. We'll see what E3 brings. I'm betting more "Remasters" and they will call it good.

I would guess March since every other major game launch in that month.

There is a defence for everything I guess. I for one is VERY disappointed. Its not like they are adding a co-op or multiplayer or any additional content. This is unacceptable for any company. Just stop proving its okay by posting indie and 3rd party game list.

Does Sony even have any other exclusives for this year?

I would be shocked if they didn't. I'm going all in and say they have The Last Guardian for release this year. It's unique enough it will be able to stand out among a ton of high profile shooters this Fall too. E3 will tell

This could help the game to get some breathing room in the marketplace as well.

Yep from a sales point of view this might be good news for the game

Just about everybody here guessed the exact same for DriveClub too. "early 2014" they said.

Then complete radio silence. Took us til May to even get a release date, for October.

I didn't. I was very vocal about the delays on Driveclub and how Sony handled it. They gave or hinted at around 2-3 different release times for that game

I think this won't take any longer because it's a SP only title and the current footage already looks great. But yes as you say the possibility of an even further delay is there.

PS4 has a bunch of exclusives for the rest of the Year. Sony not that many.

It seems people are forgetting this. Those games not being at E3 last year was a problem.
As of right now, there's 2 more retail exclusives besides Driveclub and TLOU coming out this year, but they aren't TPS or FPS games.

Just came back from school. FUCK!!...Ok now that that's out of my system i guess this can only be a good thing. Sony giving devs time to release a good product. I'm all for that...FUCK!!!, im sorry, im trying. Fff...*walks away*

SF multiplayer community says otherwise.

I don't think The Order will do well honestly. A shooter with no multiplayer? I don't think that's going to work in today's day and age.

And its releasing in Feb? Isn't Feb generally a bad time to release a game seeing as how people are still knee deep in their Christmas games?

Just as there is a defense force for everything, there is a nagging force for everything.

Delays happen for many, many reasons. Maybe the gameplay is bugged in many parts, or things aren't working. These things are unforseeable with any project in life.

Also, you got a source on that "no additional content"? 'Cause Driveclub had new shit added even though it was delayed, IIRC.

I never said anything about KZ mp, and i beat second son in 5h, just doing story missions straight away. sue me.

I even wrote down, in my initial post, how they could maintain quality and still ship on time.

Don't know why my post would be considered awful. EXPLAIN YOURSELF!!1!111

Wolfenstein is landing lots of critical reception. We'll have to wait for sales, but word on the street about the game itself is great.

Fuck me, what do they have for Xmas now?

Really awful. Stop pulling the rug on your customers Sony, bait and switching is getting annoying.

Not what that means.

People just want good games. You shouldn't care about semantic fanboy fodder about whether it's from a third, second or first party, nor whether it's a AAA, AA or indie game. A good game is a good game.

As long as the PS4 gets lots of good games this year, sensible people aren't really going to care where they come from or who they're made by. At the end of the day, a delay to help improve the game is better than rushing it out just for the sake of quantity.

This is why developers should just follow Nomura's lead and not announce a release date/window until the game is almost ready. smh.

I never said delays doesn't happen have I? I said its disappointing and unaccepted, no matter what the cause is. And this goes for any company ever. And you asking me do I have a source? No sir, I don't have a source. But they didn't said what caused the delay. So until they say they are adding any additional content I would assume there isn't any. Probably need more time to finish the game.

So again very disappointing. And a valid reason to be disappointed I think.

You rush through a game and then complain about it's length. Lol.

And it's not about just selling millions, that's short sighted. It's about releasing better quality games that have people looking forward to their sequels, and for the IP's to amass better overall reputations.

The delay blows. But they should take their time if they feel like they need it. They seem like a small team for a big AAA game type of game, so it's probably for the best. Hopefully, the sequels will be much easier to pump out once they have the proper engine and workflow in place.

Could be getting delayed because of the reception it's gotten from that new reveal. I thought it looked like a solid tps, but some people were looking to get their mind's blown.

You'd rather have a shitty, buggy game over something put in the oven, baked to perfection, and then released a few months later?

You honestly want games to just come out because you can't wait?

Nah Steam sucks too. Zero AAA exclusives and Indies don't count as games we all know that. Also f2p don't count either so there goes Dota.

Judging pc the way people judge the PS4, pc is the worst. HL3 makes TLG look like it's on schedule. Steam doesn't have a AAA exclusive to even delay into next year.

2-3 month delay I can live with but Sony has to have something first party this fall/winter.

I'm sure they will have something, but I don't think it'll be AAA-heavy though. This generation is particularly bad with announcing a game within a few months of releasing it.

Honestly I think it'll be more Japanese focused games, or maybe I'm being too hopeful.

They need to stop announcing approximate release days way the fuck out. If you want to show the game very early fine, but then just say "Release Date TBA".

OR, overshoot it. Say The Order is a late 2015 game, and then people would be fucking thrilled when you announce this fall that it is actually coming 6 months later around February/March 2015. Move a game up instead of delaying it.

Does Sony even have any other exclusives for this year?

I suspect they are going to announce probably 2 at E3, but whether or not they will be system selling AAA holiday games is another thing entirely. Perhaps The Last Guardian, but will that really be widely adopted or mostly the hardcore ICO audience who's been following it? Anyways, I hope Sony has some stuff up their sleeve for E3 but ... its not looking good.

What I mean is, these mega AAA 150+ million dollar games need time to bake in, marketing wise. Announcing in June and releasing a few months later usually won't cut it, but it certainly can. It happens a lot, but going into Holiday 2014 and not knowing what Sony is doing by mid 2014 is a little concerning.

What is there to lol about? The game gives me Missions and i complete them. wtf?

Again, they could cut the games length and maintain high quality in what they put on the disc. It shows that the length of a game has no direct correlation to its success (talking out of my asre here, but yeah).

From the OP: "...We're really trying to hone in on getting the whole game to that level of polish....""

Terrible idea. Then you get people getting rump roasted that it's too far out, they lose interest, and even though you try and reign them back in with "early 2015!", most are scorned and irate still.

Really, people just need to chill out and just wait. That being said, I hope Sony adds more to this game, and gives gamers something to play. If there's anything to complain about truly, it's the lack of releases in general this year that gives gamers a reason to chose this particular system over that one (that goes for all of them).

We don't know if it is baked to perfection. And I guess that some people somehow expected it won't be rushed to the promised release-date. Some people are that crazy.

I don't think you understand one simple thing. I am disappointed, because it was a game I was looking forward to playing. My friend who bought PS4 at launch was disappointed because he was looking forward to playing driveclub at launch. So see where I am going? If its not ready, if its not possible to deliver then no need to set a release date. If there is indeed a valid reason to delay, that's fine. BUT it still doesn't change the fact that I AM STILL DISAPPOINTED. Does that mean they release unfinished product? NO because they I will still be DISAPPOINTED.

So what should they do? Nothing, just release the game when its ready. But they and all the people who are defending it. Needs to accept that there are people out there who are DISAPPOINTED. You can't expect me to be happy or glad, I mean common?

Pity but I'd always prefer a delay vs a cut content/push it out approach so I'll wait. Game looks good although albeit on only a little shown so I'll remain cautious on it until closer to release when more is shared.

If they nail setting (which them seem to) it'll be hard to resist a well realized alternative Victorian London though even if game is merely average. Hopefully the delay will ensure it's better than that.

I dont know how, but Sony needs to take steps to rectify this situation. Not sure, what they can do, but going into the Holiday season with nothing, but a delayed launch title and a remake of a PS3 game in your first non-launch Holiday season is pitiful.

I'm not sure what can be done, but whatever can be done, should be done. Desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say.

I still have to wonder if there is any possibility of Uncharted this year. Perhaps, they could drop the multiplayer element and just release the SP this year and put out the MP portion next year as a free DLC or something. The MP portion of that game was always of ancillary importance, so if they just focused on the SP portion I suppose there is a chance they could get it out this year. Is this likely to happen? HELLZ NO! However, if I were in charge of Sony I would explore the possibility.

The only other major title that has a chance is Last Guardian, as others have mentioned. That just seems like such a pipe dream right now though.

Its a marketing scheme imo, they want as many people as possible to buy xboxes/ps4s as soon as possible because whoever bought a ps4 now is more then likely not buying an additional xbox etc.

You have to wonder how, for example, car manufacturers / movie makers can pinpoint the day of their product releasing years in advance but the game industry "can't". These delays happen so often that they seem to be part of the planning process.
