The Order: 1886 Delayed Into 2015. [Stop talking about MS lineup]

What is there to lol about? The game gives me Missions and i complete them. wtf?

Again, they could cut the games length and maintain high quality in what they put on the disc. It shows that the length of a game has no direct correlation to its success (talking out of my asre here, but yeah).

From the OP: "...We're really trying to hone in on getting the whole game to that level of polish....""

I don't want a shorter game. I want a longer game. If I'm paying full whack for it, with my hard earned money, I want better value proposition. Not for them to just rush it out to add to numbers.

Seriously, I completely disagree with you vehemently.

People just want good games. You shouldn't care about semantic fanboy fodder about whether it's from a third, second or first party, nor whether it's a AAA, AA or indie game. A good game is a good game.

As long as the PS4 gets lots of good games this year, sensible people aren't really going to care where they come from or who they're made by. At the end of the day, a delay to help improve the game is better than rushing it out just for the sake of quantity.

I agree with this. Better it be delayed to be the best game it can be, than rushed out and be poor. I seem to recall EA / Dice getting a lot of abuse for releasing and unfinished BF4....

They'll be loads of games out at that time of year anyway, and PS4 owners will get the best (console) version of the big multiplatform titles.

I also agree with the sentiment elsewhere that maybe, just maybe, games shouldn't be announced until they're pretty much set to launch. I'd prefer an E3 announcement to show a new title due that year, rather than 18+ months away.

They need to stop announcing approximate release days way the fuck out. If you want to show the game very early fine, but then just say "Release Date TBA".

OR, overshoot it. Say The Order is a late 2015 game, and then people would be fucking thrilled when you announce this fall that it is actually coming 6 months later around February/March 2015. Move a game up instead of delaying it.

The problem with this logic is it still wouldn't do anything to better the current scenario.

No matter when titles are announced for it still doesn't do anything to resolve the absolute dearth of games for PS4 this year, I could care less about when games are announced for, I care about what I can actually play this year.

I dont know how, but Sony needs to take steps to rectify this situation. Not sure, what they can do, but going into the Holiday season with nothing, but a delayed launch title and a remake of a PS3 game in your first non-launch Holiday season is pitiful.

I'm not sure what can be done, but whatever can be done, should be done. Desperate times call for desperate measures, as they say.

I still have to wonder if there is any possibility of Uncharted this year. Perhaps, they could drop the multiplayer element and just release the SP this year and put out the MP portion next year as a free DLC or something. The MP portion of that game was always of ancillary importance, so if they just focused on the SP portion I suppose there is a chance they could get it out this year. Is this likely to happen? HELLZ NO! However, if I were in charge of Sony I would explore the possibility.

The only other major title that has a chance is Last Guardian, as others have mentioned. That just seems like such a pipe dream right now though.

People are so clueless at times....

It doesn't matter how many times a person tries to inform someone, they will choose to stay ignorant.

EDIT: Honestly, I can't wait until E3 comes so this nonsense can stop. It's like some people will refuse to acknowledge the facts unless Sony shoves it down your throat at the single event in the entire year, E3.
Ummmmmmm would you care to enlighten me then? I don't anything else substantial scheduled for later this year, at this time, from Sony.

The only exceptions are a few minor PSN download titles, that are hardly worthy of much note.

You can claim ignorance, I can claim denial.

I did this numerous of times, but you continue to repeat your narrative. I'll help you though. Lily Bergamo and Guilty Gear Xrd are retail 2014 titles.
Here's some good facts to give you an idea of what you can expect at E3.

Squashed Sony had no choice but to make its own games and rectify bad decisions to get third parties back on track, Leader Sony had first party titles but mostly relied a lot on third party games, and namely third party exclusives. Take the latter off and you'll figure out what the problem is.

But then again, I wonder what good is simple, powerful hardware if it doesn't lead to all kind of games out much, much sooner compared to the mess that was PS3.

So Sony is in a desperate time when several high profile multiplatforms which will all play better on PS4 and some even advertised exclusively on PS4 will be releasing this fall? Man, Boyes and company should start making nooses now. They are EFFED.

I don't think you understand one simple thing. I am disappointed, because it was a game I was looking forward to playing. My friend who bought PS4 at launch was disappointed because he was looking forward to playing driveclub at launch. So see where I am going? If its not ready, if its not possible to deliver then no need to set a release date. If there is indeed a valid reason to delay, that's fine. BUT it still doesn't change the fact that I AM STILL DISAPPOINTED. Does that mean they release unfinished product? NO because they I will still be DISAPPOINTED.

So what should they do? Nothing, just release the game when its ready. But they and all the people who are defending it. Needs to accept that there are people out there who are DISAPPOINTED. You can't expect me to be happy or glad, I mean common?

You are disappointed because they set a release date, and then had to move it because their time machine was broke and they couldn't predict this move?

Nobody said you can't be disappointed. I think many of us are. But saying hyperbolic stuff like....

I never said delays doesn't happen have I? I said its disappointing and unaccepted, no matter what the cause is.

...is far different than just being like "well that sucks I was looking forward to it". I mean, c'mon, calling it unacceptable? It's entirely possible to be disappointed in something and also realize that shit happens and that it is pretty much the nature of the beast with products, not calling it "unacceptable".

Really interested in this game the first time i saw it. Disappointed that its delayed. Then again, im used to Sony delaying every fucking game they announce since the The start of the PS3.

I dont get all this hype about Driveclub. Its not going to sell close to infamous numbers. I'll be surprised if it even hits a million before xmas.

Dude, multiplatform releases are not the what sells me on this console. Nor a lot of other people.

If I was interested in playing the best version of multiplatform titles, I would upgrade my PC.

Please don't tell me people buy their PS4's, just to play multiplatform games.

So my initial post was not awful, we just disagree :)

I grew to like quality "short" games. 8-10h is ideal for me. I much rather have three different games i can play within my gametime than to drag along one game that i'll not finish anyway. Because let's be honest, most games that are over 10h are full of filler/grind and generally crap that you could still enjoy by simply replaying the game. But thats kinda off topic.

I'm confident it'll be worth the delay.

Goddamn.

There some new footage released? Link me, bro.

I agree with you somewhat. I'm actually glad I have waited to buy a new console, even with the recent deal for $360 for a PS4.

I have a really good gaming PC so a multiplatform game performing better on the PS4 compared to the Xbox One means nothing to me.

The one exception for this year at least is Destiny. That's not announced for the PC at this time so that could be the feather in Sony's cap. I'm sure it will still perform fine on the Xbox One though. It just may run at a higher resolution or frame rate, which a lot of GAF goes crazy over recently.

To be perfectly honest, I think at this point I would be willing to settle for a shorter game at this point too, just so we could finally get some damn games for this system.

I would be satisfied with a 10 hour experience. They could save the other stuff for some DLC.

Just for the record, I'm not at all upset with the delay. I just don't like Sony's track record on jerking people around with release dates.

"early 2015"

Goddamn.

Holy damn at that second GIF. There's bullet time? Where's this from?

One side note: I actually like that the weapons seem to be inaccurate (besides that pistol), as it'll force players to get close and personal - which was put to great effect in the first Gears.

It was awful. Because you were promoting the idea of devs shortening games just to rush out for release. Then you mentioned InFamous's length as being 5 hours even though it's longer, completely blanked SF's multiplayer etc.

And if a developer can't make a fun longer title, that is a failure on the developer themselves. Long games are not inherently less fun. It's up to the developer to make sure the game is fun, even if it's longer.

For example, God of War 2, Resident Evil 4, Bioshock Infinite, Last of Us etc, these are longer than normal action games, but they're still incredibly fun throughout.

Nah Steam sucks too. Zero AAA exclusives and Indies don't count as games we all know that. Also f2p don't count either so there goes Dota.

Judging pc the way people judge the PS4, pc is the worst. HL3 makes TLG look like it's on schedule. Steam doesn't have a AAA exclusive to even delay into next year.

Agree with alot of this but That line right there made me flip. Can't stop giggling.

E3 2014 is going to make or break 2014 gaming for Sony, if Driveclub is there only major exclusive for the rest of this year sweet baby jesus help us.

So let me get this straight. ...

First you say:
I have a really good gaming PC so a multiplatform game performing better on the PS4 compared to the Xbox One means nothing to me.

Then you proceed to say:
I'm sure it will still perform fine on the Xbox One though. It just may run at a higher resolution or frame rate, which a lot of GAF goes crazy over recently.

So you dismiss PS4s power advantage in games because you have a "really good gaming PC", then proceed to downplay resolution and framer ate differences in a console exclusive game?

This is good for the game but bad for Sony's Christmas lineup. I hope they have some surprises or can really make 3rd party games look a lot better. There's no shortage of games to play this holiday and they have the momentum, but another exclusive would be nice.

Xb1 won't surge ahead because of this, but its not a positive for Sony either.

Wolfenstein is landing lots of critical reception. We'll have to wait for sales, but word on the street about the game itself is great.

Not what that means.

I preordered a Infamous Second Son PS4 bundle and then SS got kicked back until Q1.
PS+ on PS4 was built around Drive Club in the run up to the PS4, 1st the game got delayed for a little bit and then it was pushed back a full year.

Baited the sales.
Switched the items.

Even though I know it'll be for the better of the quality of the game, and that it'll be nice to have games hit when it's usually the slower time of the year, this is a massive disappointment to me. And the PS4 isn't even my main gaming machine, I could only imagine how others are feeling. Now you'll have DC, and then Destiny (which is shaping up nicely) with other porterhouse titles.

I would like to think Sony has some surprises that, well, will be out this year. They can't be stupid enough to not capitalize on their momentum, AND the first E3 is always about the hardware of the new gen. The second should have focus on games. And not just trailers of what's coming in 1-2 years. They should have had stuff locked in for this fall.

Oh well. Just disappointing really.

Well, not necessarily. I'm not downplaying at all. I just get the other poster's point that the multiplatform games aren't doing it for him on the PS4. He wants exclusives.

How do you "build" a system that was in place years before the ps4 was even announced?

I am not überzeugt.

Not going into list wars. I still stand by it => Make this game shorter, maintain hight quality and release in 2014. I would have a good game this year to play on my new system starving of new games.

edit: Second son is 5h long, i still don't know why doing story missions is wrong now, and KZ:SF is really bad and i don't need to look at mp to point out that in this time even shit games get to be multi million sellers when exclusive on ps4.

So it was true, no biggie. I hope they nail it with this so they won't be regulated to portable games anymore.

He didn't get his pc for higher resolution and frame-rate than consoles! He got it for... uh.

Seems that Galahad takes that stance automatically when he takes too much damage and goes into bullet time mode.

Nah, in the Kotaku preview they said something about building up something to use it.
So you won't be able to use it countless times.

I'd say the evidence from PS3/360 gen and continuing into this one is that having a lower price point, having perception of superior performance and having perception of being better place to play big AAA titles like CoD/BF now matters more than exclusives to the majority.

Obviously I get many still buy for the exclusives but the evidence I'd say indicates that they've diminished in importance and arguably are no longer able to ensure large market-share. Heck even going back earlier than PS3/360 look at how well Halo 2 sold on Xbox yet look at Xbox install base, or look at big Nintendo titles on middling hardware install base.

Not saying exclusives don't help/matter but their importance I feel in terms of unit sales is overstated vs the evidence : for example look at all the fighting that went on about which console had the better launch lineup of exclusives and how it mattered and look at how it actually played out with price, perception and better versions of big multi-platform games available on many platforms turning out to be far more important to the average consumer.

Ironically I do somewhat agree with you on a personal basis as I have a decent enough gaming PC so do look to consoles more for exclusives than I feel the majority now does.

While it wasn't built around Driveclub exactly, they did promote it as a part of PS4's PS+ offerings heavily at E3 and in the months until the delay reveal.

Things happen though and it looks like Driveclub will be worth the wait. The delay doesn't sound like it'll be as long as Driveclub's. (almost a year for Driveclub compared to a projected 'few months' for The Order)

Wow, Sony has been delaying a lot of games recently...

Driveclub ----------- Delayed 1 yr.
Deep Down -------- Delayed indefinitely
Infamous SS ------ Delayed 3 months(originally a launch game)
The Order 1886 -- Delayed 6 months
TLG ------------------- Delayed (how may years has it been)

Edit: It Seems Infamous SS was never delayed, just thought it was

I believe I read that bullet-time is the result of consuming Black Water (or whatever it is called) which regenerates health and gives you improved reflexes (bullet-time).
