I think the point is that Evolve has kind of been the media and marketing darling since E3.
It's a pretty good Benchmark given the release dates, I think.

Yeah, Evolve has been a media darling, but I've never felt like that translated into a legitimate mainstream consumer excitement for the game, unlike say, Titanfall.

Id have to do some digging to get those numbers but against more current titles.
The Order is doing slightly better than the PS4 version of Batman AK but Batman XB1+ PS4 beats it soundly. is Equal to the XB1 + PS4 Witcher III sku and is still demolishing Bloodborne.

Not sure what's up with Bloodborne pre order numbers but they are pretty dreadful especially when directly compared to other souls releases.

I think this game will do well. While we all talk about our concern over hair physics or gameplay ("It's just a movie with QTE's!!!!!") everyone else will be blown away by how unbelievably good this game looks.
And unbelievable really is the word. I did not expect genuine graphics like this from a game any time soon. Maybe a tech demo or something, but not this, now. It's a quite ludicrous achievement, and while I don't want to bait PC gamers I must say there is NOTHING that looks this good on any other system (that I've seen). I know some PC games push the boundaries in tech terms, but in actually creating a cohesive look and feel and doing it with such depth and believability... nah nothing I've ever seen demo'd comes close to what The Order 1886 is actually doing, right now, on the lowly PS4.
I now genuinely believe that, graphically at least, photorealism is nigh, if not by the end of this generation, certainly by the beginning of the next (so what 5-7 years away). Staggering how quickly graphics have come along. The fact that VR is happening, legitimately, right now as well makes me very happy at what's on the horizon. Oh and new Star Wars films and some VR photorealistic games or experiences based on that is something else!
Most annoying thing is, I will need to wait a week until payday for this game, so utterly utterly broke at the moment!

Personally think it's such a waste of screen. There's no information of almost half the screen. You can still get a filmic view without the black bars. I've seen many movies that are truly aweinspiring cinematic experiences.. without black bars. I don't buy that it adds anything to the experience. If that was the case, Last of Us wouldn't feel cinematic.
I don't want my screensize go to waste, that's all.

Yea I've had friends showing interest and asking me about the game too, which kinda surprised me because these are ppl who don't know much other than COD. I think the order is going to do well for a new IP.

Preordered this a couple of days ago because of this thread...waiting with bated breath....
Well, I had some extra money left from my bloodborne LE pre order, so I put some down on this.
I played that demo no one liked and wasn't impressed. The new footage does look better, and after the open world gluttony I did with FC4, GTAV, DAI and ACU.... I need to play something tight and linear.
I hope its good.
You think the review embargo will end early? The game went gold a week ago, and doesn't come out for another 2 weeks.
Then again, the last press I saw for the order was negative (don't pre order, etc)

If it's any indication, some friends from the videogame media here in Peru had a conference call with one of the developers (I forget the name but I can look it up) and there was an embargo date: Feb. 10th at 9 am local time, which would also be 9 am EST if I'm not mistaken. I don't know if that's a worlwide embargo date but I suppose we'll see soon enough, it seems way too early for an embargo.
From the way it was worded it seemed like a preview embargo... which is kinda dumb but I'm not sure, will try and confirm with my friends.

It's probably the press preview embargo.
Yeah, that's most likely it since they were given press kits but nothing substantial. I guess we'll have to wait till release day for the reviews :/

Bloodborne is a very hardcore title i wonder if more people buying it on DD.
This is the first one i also buying and not disc still it good to see the order doing well.

You can't get a 21:9 FOV picture on a 16:9 screen without black bars.
I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case in most retailers. I always thought that The Order had potential to sell quite well if marketed competently.
If it reviews decently and WOM is good, I can see the game selling over 2 million copies.
How well do you think the game will do in terms of WOM?
Considering the genre and its cinematic approach, I'd say that it's going to be decent.
When people start talking about the story elements and weapons that we don't know of, coupled with how awesome the gore seems to be, I honestly think WOM will spread rather quickly in a positive way.
This is all a guess of course.
Oh yeah I definitely see the high level of gore being WOM-worthy. Already on NeoGAF this gif has generated lots of excitement:

Didn't RAD say they want it to become a franchise.
They would be such a great addition to Sony Worldwide Studios - their talent with producing absolutely incredible visuals goes toe to toe with Naughty Dog.

Yep. I want The Order to do well sales-wise, but I'd rather Bloodborne perform better. However, the development budgets are probably totally different so sales expectations and profitability will differ by probably millions of units.
Edit - also, anecdotally, a dude working in my local Game said that The Order had really good pre-order numbers. I asked how much they were going to be charging for which he did not know, but said that it has got a lot of pre-orders so based on that demand Game would probably be charging £55.
