Funny that initially I could only find the instrumental and had to bother stewy to find out which track he actually wanted me to use since he said it was bad and generally bad Sonic music are the tracks that have vocals. :)

(Except Sonic and Tails' themes, which have vocals but are usually still listenable.)

No. None of them are really listenable except for, maybe, E-102's theme.

I heartily recommend everyone track down the Sonic Adventure soundtrack. All of the main characters have similar theme songs. Amy's is particularly great, too.

This is what the P1P is here for, folks :)

I hope CJ sprinkles all the break music next week from your recommendation.

I remember genuinely liking the music from the first level of Sonic Adventure 2 (the one where you're boarding down sitting streets). That could just be because I heard it a ton and it was either learn to like it or stab myself in the ears...

This week! Ocarina of Time 3D, LA Noire, the Sonic Generations demo, changing out the PS3 hard drive, Internet petitions, Mega Man Xes, game vacation days, strange & unique games for Wii, and so much more.

SINCE, AS IF THEY WERE FOOLS, THEY DIDN'T PLAY LITTLE KING'S STORY, I will throw in that game on the "strange and unique Wii games" front. I haven't listened yet, though.

I can't download more than the first 22.5 KB of this week's episode. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Edit: Never mind. It's working fine now.

They actually mention Kings Story.

I was well-chuffed to hear Oder Up! mentioned in the wacky Wii games list. That game is the balls and has one of the most hilarious endings I've ever seen in a game.

After listening to CJ's talk on this week's show it still has me hesitant somewhat on upgrading my PS3 HDD (120GB is just not enough will all the games I have).

CJ, you have a slim right?

I don't know if there is a difference between the phat and the slim PS3 in regards to how easy/difficult it is to upgrade the HDD.

I've upgraded both, and the screw on the Slim was easier to remove. Part of that could be that I was more prepared for the process. But honestly, the difference is that it took me 5 minutes instead of 10. It's a really painless process--other than waiting for your data to backup/restore from an external HD.

That blue screw on the fat PS3 is hard as shit to remove. I had to grab the screwdriver with a pair of pliers to get it to move at all.

Had to do the same thing when I upgraded my phat 60gb with a 320gb HDD when MGS4 hit. That screw was really hard to loosen.

Otherwise, the process was super easy.

Nah I have a phat PS3 - an original 60 gigger. I've heard anecdotally that the slim is loads easier. But like I said on the show - a pair of pliers to loosen the screws is a good first step. I wished I'd just done that from the get go.

Did we get a confirmation on no more Greg Ford?

Sadly it's true, no more Ford it would seem. Although we certainly wish him the best of luck in his new job. And hey, maybe he'll be able to guest at some point.

Episode 245 (07/04/11) – Operation Rain On Your Parade

This week! We delve into such hot topics as Nintendo’s Platinum award prize, the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Trenched, Galaga Legions DX and so much more. Happy Independence Day!

Yes, congratulations to Ford on the new job.

That said, this was probably the worst episode of the show. Everyone sounded depressed/tired, and the attempted rationalization of NoA's garbage localization policies made everyone come off as disdainful jerks. Phil especially just sounded outright venomous towards people who want NoA to actually localize games instead of releasing nothing for eight months, which is really surprising since he's usually such a jolly, reasonable fellow. There certainly must have been a way to say that Operation Rainfall is totally futile without sounding like an ass.

As for me feeling depressed/tired, I was (and still am) coming down from that horrible, horrible sickness that I had the previous week. As for me being a jerk...well, I'm just a jerk.

Well, you are the all time bestseller. Hope you feel well soon.

Glad you answered my Star Wars question, I've really been wanting to play some Star Wars games and haven't played many.

In spite of the negativity expressed on the show and in this thread, I thought the episode was great. The fewer games to discuss, the better.

Episode 246 (07/11/11) – Eight, Who Do We Appreciate

This week! Some video game talk mixed in with other stuff about DVD collections and Lord of the Rings. Expect to hear us discussing Ocarina of Time 3D, LA Noire, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, and Child of Eden.

http://traffic.libsyn.com/playerone/07_11_11-Episode246.mp3

True, boring story: Yale's pep squad says, "2, 4, 6, 8, whoM do we appreciate?" NERDS.

Great episode this week with a quintessential P1P opening 30 minutes of entertaining inanity.

CJ and Sewart's criticims of LA Noire were pretty lame. I don't love the game or think it's perfect by any means but:

A) As soon as you finish one goal in the scavenger hunt, Cole tells you immediately where to go next. Not sure why CJ was complaining about wondering around.

B) Sewart whining about the time it takes to find the DLC cases, I mean really? How long does it take go to the menu and search through the different types of cases. 30 seconds?

With the amount of podcasts changing, faltering, or disappearing, I really do adore this podcast. Is it definitely still Ford-less?

Hmmm, can't believe I haven't heard of this podcast before as it sounds right up my alley. Gonna get the latest and go backwards through the past episodes.

Well, he certainly was not telling me where to go next immediately. I'd have to drive around for ~5 minutes, then he'd repeat a bit of the last clue and THEN say where to go next - at that point the yellow goal marker would appear. I suppose that might be because I haven't been exploring the city much which might have been part of the problem.

I had the same experience as CJ, that part of the game took way too long cause I spent most of the time waiting to be told where to go. Maybe it's different if you were exploring the world a lot but honestly there was almost zero reason to explore the city so I never did. The game really doesn't need to be open world at all, it seems like a waste of time that it is.

A) Your experience seems to differ from everyone I know that went through that mission. Cole definitely didn't tell you where to go right away. There were actually a few spots I found before he gave me the name of the destination.

B) You're talking about two different things here. RE: DLC - I'm irritated that the DLC apparently covers plot points important to the story, and that if you download them after you've played past those points, they have to be played out of order. Not to mention the affect the plot hidden behind DLC has on the rest of the story.

The complaint I had regarding shuffling through the needlessly complicated menu system had to do with street crime, as each of the 40 missions is assigned to a particular case file, but you're not given any sort of direction as to where to find them. So not only do you have to sift through each case file separately, but you have to load and reload the game each time you go looking for any street crime missions you've missed.

If I'm wrong on that, well, so be it. But if there was a more streamlined way of accomplishing those missions, it certainly wasn't made apparent.

Sadly, yes. Ford is definitely gone for realsies. Maybe we'll be able to get him back on in the future for some guest appearances, but that's really up to his new employer.

Another week with no zinger at the end :(

The show does seem a bit off with Ford not being around anymore (plz do not replace Ford with Mik). Also, CJ's a tad quieter.

This really is the end of the P1P :(

Not in my game, he didn't. I had to figure out all those locations my damn self.

I've been having trouble connecting to Libsyn.com from home for the last month. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I guess I should contact my ISP about it.

I haven't had downtime in months. Definitely get that fixed.

Stewy, have you got your new TV yet?

I'd be very interested in hearing your opinions on the passive 3D technology - if this tech works well it may be enough for me to go for a similar TV at some stage.

Cheers :)
