Supposedly Polygon's liveblog?[/QUOTE]

What the actual fuck at that Cerebral palsy joke. Future of games journalism, indeed.

Edit: I wanted to see if I could verify that comment, cause it did seem like someone might fake that to troll Polygon. Going to the liveblog, if you mouseover you can see there's an entry missing exactly where that one should be. Looks like they deleted it. The destiny thread tells me polygon used "addicting" instead of "addictive." Needless to say I have no idea how they live with themselves. One can only hope they are the next victim of Reggie's eye beams

The interview was great. Totally just ordered a copy of the book.

You guys should try to get more people on for interviews

It was a good interview, and I agree -- more interviews would be cool (but maybe they're best as "specials"?).

Though as I said at the P1P forums and will repeat here because I'm a cranky old man, I had hoped it would make me reconsider my (negative) feelings about the narrative style used in the book. If anything, it solidified those feelings.

Still interested in reading the book for the actual history contained within, but will be checking it out from the library rather than buying, as I don't like the idea of constructed "scenes."

Listening to the E3 show on my commute today. About what I expected so far...

SIDE NOTE: If mik doesn't get back in the game soon, Phil's going to start making Gunpei Yokoi jokes about him.

Um, I play AC like the E3 demo for my first playthrough of an area. Not unusual, CJ!

The Division E3 gameplay was a better example. Way too smooth and well choreographed.

Fun listen so far. Shame that Mike isn't on though.

Couple things, there was an agility orb collected in that cg trailer. Secondly, the DR3 dlc can be played solo according to the new thread, although apparently its pretty hard on your own (friend has my copy so I hope to try it this weekend).

To continue my week of CJ criticism (presented by Mario Maker*), are we really going with "my concern about Sunset Overdrive is that all we've seen is running around and shooting"?

My big concern about Mario Kart is that all you do is drive a car.

Oh no I think it'll be cool. I want to know about story and how much "other" stuff you can do. But even if it is just running around and shooting, I'll be OK with that. :) It does look great, and the environments look great. I just want to see...more.

Looking forward to CJ's thoughts on the Destiny Alpha. Is Mike officially off the show because of how upset he was about Gies calling indie games garbage?

I don't see the point of it either. Nintendo is churning out new Mario games every year and I might as well play the ones that were made by professional level designers.

No. I'm also not a fan of Little Big Planet.

I don't want to sift through hundreds of badly designed levels for the chance of stumbling upon the odd good one. If I'm interested in brutal difficulty I can play Super Meat Boy.

A Mario level creator would appeal to some fans, but it's definitely not for everyone.

I haven't listened to the episode yet, but some of the coverage on Mario Maker (US Gamer in particular) made it sound like a successor to Mario Paint with a bunch of different modes, including a music editor, not really a LBP ripoff. It sounds like something fun to screw around with, at least to me.

You don't think it would be fun to make brutally difficult levels and share them with your friends?

What you described does not sound like something I would find enjoyable.

Like I said during the episode - if and when they show a more complete game loop, I might be interested.

the idea of people creating / filtering good levels for me to play, so that when i finally buy this $3 app, i am rewarded with other people's hard work, and not just indie game garbage, is a very addicting idea.

I love Mario Kart but HOW FUCKING DARE SOMEONE SUGGEST PROVIDING ME THE OPTION OF BUYING MORE MARIO KART

bizarre

Mario Maker is a cool idea. Zero interest.

I'll be very surprised if Mario Maker is less than $39.99 MSRP or if what they showed off at E3 is the extent of the content present in the final game. I don't think Nintendo is interested in making this one a download-only "app." With the very positive reaction this got at E3 I'm sure we'll get a full-fledged experience. Won't be enough for stewy, probably, but I'm in.

Scheduling is the biggest pain about doing a podcast. And my work schedule this week conspired with Father's Day to scupper my chances at recording. But we'll get it lined up next week.

Can you also be the host? Think of it as making up for the Mike-less shows.

You people are hurtful.

Just imagine the absolute cement mixer of hate I've been storing in my gut for three weeks!

(or imagine that I have neither played video games nor paid any attention to news associated with them)

It had better be option #1. The next show needs to be the most cynical of all time otherwise the balance of the universe will never be righted.

Yeah I made the mistake of listening to this show while driving my mom to a doctors appt today, because it's usually pretty safe. Big mistake!

I imagine she died of shock, so I'm sorry for your loss. On the plus side, you didn't need to waste time at the doctor's office, and we have the evidence we need to finally put CJ behind bars.

I agree with Greg, regarding Mario Maker. Why am I excited that I'm paying money to make my own levels? If reality has taught me nothing else (and it hasn't) is that there is no future in game design and the amount of time spent sorting the good levels from the atrocious will not be worth it.

Also, the race is on to see who will be the first to make a Flappy Bird level in it.

"Someone's mother's around. Time to whip out the fap noises!"

"Hey mom, wanna listen to some 'Me So Horny' with me?"

Man, what is CJ's deal?

I'll have you know that "Me So Horny" was not included on the Banned in the USA cassette that I purchased. But several other gems were.

Decided to try this one since a lot of people talk it up and I have become kind of tired of how damn jaded Bombcast guys are.

Though I liked the show, these dudes are even more jaded. The few episodes I've heard they shit on almost everything. Not for me, thanks.

Fair enough. To me it sounded like you were saying you really didn't get the point of it rather than just flat out being not interested, but I'm not the best listener.

I would have loved to have seen what this post would say if Mike were on this week.

I don't think we shit on everything. In fact I think we praised every game we've been playing over the past week.
