Oh, also, I had Dust on the rundown because I intended to give you total credit for telling me to stick with the game. It does indeed get better in terms of the platforming/exploration:combat ratio. Good, good stuff. Still hate the art style though. :P

We just had many false starts this week. It was a weird episode. But just wait until you hear how awesome we are THIS week.*

Ah, gotcha. I couldn't remember but I thought you were somewhat positive. It kind of shows how terrible using a touch screen in combination with all the other controls can be.

Really looking forward to that CoD vita game now.....

They are going to be disappointed with the 8-4 Play Ground Zeroes episode - its clear Mark and the rest are as clueless as everyone else. Lets just add a MGS world to the next Kingdom Hearts and let the two universes of convoluted story telling collapse in on themselves

Anyway, regarding FF7. While I'm sure it was pushed on a lot of people who didn't like it, it was also pushed on a bunch of people like myself who didn't play RPGs but ended up loving it and JRPGs in general. I think the last RPG I played before FF7 was an Apple ][ game with a dragon on the box

Yeah, I agree that MGS has lost its mainstream appeal. It's now considered a niche game. And I think that's part of what alienated me to the series. I was good all the way up to 4 and the portable PSP games. I liked Ac!d and Ac!d 2, but...

Wasn't MGS4 the highest selling PS3 game for awhile? Metal Gear definitely isn't niche, an Atelier game selling 6,000 copies is niche

The series definitely isn't what it once was though

Guess I had a poor choice of words - I meant it's going the route to turn into its own niche, not so much a 'niche' title.

The point I was making is that Metal Gear Solid was right along the same lines as Final Fanasy VII - one of those landmark games that was able to draw in an audience that didn't necessarily play that type of game.

More and more since then, though, the MGS games have become for the MGS fan, and seem like they would be pretty difficult to get into without some sort of knowledge or history with the franchise.

That's not to say they're bad games or anything. And I guess "niche" was kind of a poor choice of words.

Let's be honest - Peace Walker got friggin' WEIRD.

As for Sleepy Dogs you will be doing melee combat through the entire game, even right up to the end. If I had to guess at the ratio of gun bits to melee bits I'd say it's 30-70, at most.

Someone actually tweeted about seeing TDKR and kept thinking of Player One when Bane talks in the movie, lol

Haha.

I love the Bane bits on the podcast. I really liked the bit where his wife was saying she'd rather he did Smug Obi Wan. I've never heard Smug Obi Wan but he sounds like my kinda guy.

Smug Obi-Wan is pretty much just Obi-Wan from the current Clone Wars TV series. He's a bit of a pompous ass. I tend to do his voice a bit too much around the house.

I very much enjoyed your subtle Ghostbusters 2 reference last week when Dana and the baby appeared briefly. I like to imagine your home life is like 99% movie, tv and games references.
