The Player 1 Podcast Topic

God damn Grid 2 sounds awful. I was going to wait until it hit the bargain bin because of the cockpit view issue, but you add mandatory drifting on every turn to that and that makes me just want to skip it.

Ambitious?

Yeah, I found it to be the opposite of that.

I thought the way they did the intersecting stories was very interesting. It made the first three episodes fairly poor, but it just got better and better when everything began to come together at around episode 4.

Mike was really on fire during the end of the show. Good stuff.

Yeah, a good reminder that they can do 'serious' as well as 'silly'.

I try to keep the games media at arms-length, but Giantbomb was one of the few I paid attention to. Kinda sad how it became Giantbomb + Our Industry Chums.

Still, it's mostly restricted to subscriber content, so it's easy to avoid. Unless you want to pay money to hear what Doublefine or Harmonix are up to.

Yes you can. I'll work on getting both up this week. Sorry for the delay!

Good on Mike and probably Phil to not falter on the DRM and not buying it unless they change it.
Disappointing about the other two that Phil Spencer is right when he says "The super core guys, they will buy everything,"

Well apparently Xbox One preorders are above that of PS4 on Amazon UK according to some news this morning, so sounds like that has turned out to be correct overall.

Good on Mike and probably Phil for having the same opinion as me.

Disappointed in the other guys for not having the same opinion as me :)

I'm the "other guys"? :) I think the policies suck but I like the convenience of installed games and being able to access your games from any system which isn't really possible without something like this. But as I said on the show, it would've been preferable if they allowed you to run games off the disc without permanently attaching the license to yourself - they only take away your reselling if you choose to install.

Because pre-orders are such good indicators to how a console does in the market place.
Like the Wii U beating all previous pre-order records at GameStop in North America.

But it already is possible with the current system on both 360 and PS3. You just buy the game digitally via XBL or PSN.

That would be great, yes.

Interesting.... Sewert's disconnected and dropped from the call? Eh, let's keep on going. Mike microphone is dodgy? Shit, let's crash-cut directly to some music because this shit needs to be fixed before we can go on.

I feel bad for Greg :(

For Greg or me because I had to edit it. :) BTW we are doing an e3 episode special tonight at 10:30 EST.

Looking forward to hearing Mikes thoughts (since he was the only one all that passionate about avoining the forced xboning)

I won't be joining tonight.

But I am happy to eat some crow and give huge props to Sony. Those huge props include a pre-order for their console--something I have literally never done before.

Sadly he will not be joining us tonight but we will certainly discuss more on the next episode. Pete Dodd will be joining us in his stead.

Awwwww, still no love for Greg :(

Looking forward to the extra show, guys. I have neither the time nor inclination to trawl through the Gaming forum threads to collect the E3 news so you're my font for all that's happened.

Well the video from the twitter account does not seem to work :(

You are correct, it's broken. The bad thing is that I discovered at the very end of the show that I'd failed to record the whole thing on my computer. And then the YouTube video broke. BUT, it didn't break before I nabbed the audio from it LUCKILY. It's up now on the feed.

E3 2013: Presser Cooker

Today! A special episode where we discuss the press conferences just passed at E3, swapping out a Mike Phillips and replacing him with a special guest, Pete Dodd. We talk Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo for almost two hours. Enjoy!

Tuck them into the shirt? What?

Just spitballing here, but there's probably a reasonable middle ground between awkwardly stuffing a tie into your collar and letting it flop around loosely in your chicken finger platter.
