Leader boards locked behind a Facebook login? Give me a fucking break Johnston!

It goes to Game Center too - just not in-app. We display FB instead. When you connect your FB account it doesn't post to your wall or anything unless you choose to do that. But it does show you your friends' faces (if they're playing) in-game that you can then smash through.

For mik: "I can imagine, 200 years from now, like our reading of Dickens, the game will be regarded as a catalog of our contemporary travails, an accelerated reality bearing more truth than just gazing at our own reflection." -Adam Sessler's GTAV review.

Is...is that an actual quote? I had to turn off the review after the Jonathan Swift comparison.

I saw that and thought of Mike as well, haha.

Oh Adam. Oh Adam.

As annoying as those GameStop kids are, I don't hold anything against them personally, even when they go overboard and get too pushy. I work in a call center where we also have quotas for random things, and if one of your key numbers is below expectation three months in a row, they'll straight-up fire you. I don't know much about GameStop specifically, but I imagine it's similar.

Not that I go to GameStop anymore. I don't pre-order games, and they never have extra copies of new games for customers that didn't pre-order.

Gamestop has a % quota to fill, so if someone's pushy, it's not because they're weird - it's because they may get written up. It's a shitty way to treat employees but it works, so I can't blame Gamestop for doing it. A shame.

I'll preorder games though, because I have no faith in Amazon anymore. Just get off my ass and move.

Man you guys were really harsh on Brothers. I'm surprised.

I don't think the game difficulty got 'commiteed' or anything like that. I think the devs very purposefully made a game that most people would have a fighting chance to play through to completion, rather than a game catering to a hardcore that was really good at puzzles or platforming or both.

As for the ending (and a couple of other parts throughout) I found it very emotionally powerful, but of course thats entirely subjective.

Antivirus was fucked up. Thanks for the 'recommendation!'

Edit: oops wrong podcast. But you guys should watch and talk about disturbing movies more often

"There are no puzzles, only procedures," is definitely the thing I dislike in games that I experience most. Well put.

I can't wait til my kids are playing GTA V for their high school literature classes.

High school? Maybe in a low-achieving inner-city public school. It will be junior high and no later for the rich kids.

I'll nominate:

Dead Girl
Irreversible
and, most of all...
Red, White, and Blue
I've seen Dead Girl (yikes that was uncomfortable to watch at times) and thanks for the other suggestions. I'll check them out.

Antiviral is very interesting, written and directed by David Cronebergs son Brandon and it takes place in a future where people are so obsessed with celebrities that they pay to be infected with various diseases the celebrities have. It gets real gross real quick.

You are so hard to listen to about Nintendo CJ. You lose all sense of reason when you talk about them an their issues.

"Who cares that they don't have an account system"

Fucking really?

I could listen to Greg and Mike talk about GTAV for at least another half hour. Great stuff so far. Looking forward to more thoughts from those two as they progress.

Kinda sucks that CJ is holding down rest of the crew. It wasn't always like this but I guess now he's under a lot of pressure with Nintendo not doing very well and all. I've started to enjoy their live shows so it kinda sucked this week there wasn't one. Still a good episode and I'm sure CJ will bounce back when Mario Kart 8 comes out.

Phil is the nation's number one miiverse archaeologist

If you want a laugh, watch the Bioshock Infinite review. One of the best works in applied thesaurus to date.

This moment, in its odd quietude and musical anachronism, is one of numerous tableaus in Bioshock Infinite that catapult this exhilarating meditation on identity, guilt, belief, narrative, revolution, race, national identity and eventually games themselves into a brilliant sensory symphony without precedent in the medium. It is one of the most remarkable creative feats I have experienced.

But is is Dickens?

I do not know what you're talking about.

I do not know what you're talking about.

Don't mean to offend and all but you just need a little pick-me-up to get you back in the groove :-) Let the conversations flow a little and try to jump in more even if it's not a Super Mario game the others are talking about <3 There's at least a good 30 minutes of extra talk I feel is left out every episode but then again I understand that time constraints come from other sources as well so it's not that simple.

As it is right now I feel like I'm listening to some off-season episodes of a Nintendo podcast.

I still have no idea what you're talking about and I've been listening to the podcast since episode 6.

I think Mik should be able to have 15 minutes every week to talk about the PS Vita. I don't care even if he played a new game that week. 15 minutes should be spent just talking about how awesmoe the Vita is.

I forgot to put Real Boxing on the rundown, or we probably would have. Next week!

P.S. Real Boxing is pretty neat.

Is it? As a boxing fan (and 4D Boxing diehard) I'm always looking for a fun boxing game. More simmy or more funny?

I guess in the end what I'm saying is that 15 minutes spent talking about anything other than a Nintendo game is not what CJ would approve of and I feel like that's a recent development and it sucks. Maybe I just forgot how things were before Wii U and other Nintendo shortcomings or maybe I'm just flat out wrong. Just my two cents.

But all's cool. I still listen to the podcast even though I feel it should gain a little more bulk to the conversations the other dudes are having about other games.

What are you talking about? When they all have played the same game they spend a lot of time on it. The last one of those was TLOU and that's why it's shorter time on each game.

You mean CJ isn't moving the podcast along and culling conversation but rather people just don't have anything to talk about without everyone being aboard? That's my opinion though :-( Also I feel like CJ himself is only really excited about either Nintendo games or (understandingly) when he's talking about what he's worked on with Adult Swim.

Also like I said it's just my two cents and I can be wrong / misunderstood or w/e.

It kind of straddles the line. It actually feels a decent amount like Fight Night. It has its issues--it's certainly technically imperfect--but it's fun and cheap.

He talked about Puppeteer today. And very little Nintendo talk has been going on other than Nintendo is one month has released: Pikmin, Wonderful 101 and Zelda.

Good. As long as it's not trash, and it doesn't sound like it, I'm all in. Thanks for elaborating, looking forward to next week.

Also I want to hear more EGM-era talk about SNES/Genesis games. I miss it, and can't get enough. Like all that talk about Aero the Acro-Bat a month or so ago? Good stuff.

You're right that at the moment the games that I'm excited about are made by Nintendo. I don't imagine that will change much come the end of the year because of SM3DW, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and A Link Between Worlds. So get used to it. ;)

But, I don't feel like I'm cutting anyone short or stopping discussion in favor of more talk about Nintendo.

Don't think anyone else does either so I guess the fault's in me on this one. I apologize.

Oh, I'm really late to this but I'm surprised that Phil thought New Super Luigi U felt like nothing more than a collection of time trials. I really appreciated how difficult it was compared to NSMB U and nothing really felt "time trial-y" about it aside from the shortened timer.
