Romanes Eunt Domus
We have this thread every two months.
Finally a decent response! I'm in complete agreement with this, seeing all of these images posted is getting really tiresome and downright boring. GAF had about a couple of weeks of this happening before it was stopped, but ever other forum is filled with this.Mama Robotnik said:I suspect that it might have something to do with the ponies themselves being posted on the internet with wild abandon, regardless of relevance. Its not a problem on GAF, but I've seen a number of forums in which threads were consumed by pony stuff.
That kind of thing can obviously be irritating, and can result in negative responses to just reading and seeing references to the damn things. It probably puts people off actually wanting to watch an episode.
Imagine if Warhammer 40k fans started posting images of Space Marines and Imperial Terminators in threads and discussions that had no relevance to the images, under the justification of meme. It would surely result in negative responses to the awesomeness that are Space Marines, and would probably disuade people from wanting to know any more about this whole Imperium of Man business. People could even become quite hostile to the various random images of The God Emperor's of Man's finest.
And now I've made it relevant I can post the image.
*snip*
Because Avatar isn't polarising. Nearly everybody who's seen the show likes it, and those who don't can at least acknowledge the value of the series, just admit it's not their cup of tea.Big One said:Avatar is hundreds of times better, which is why I'm curious it doesn't get a similar fan reaction.

The normal thing whenever something gets a very fanatical following. Just look at Community and Lost. It is sadly the truth.smurfx said:most of the hate is thanks to the fans posting it all over neogaf when the show was released. that and lots of avatars as well. guess some neogaf members got overwhelmed and then ended up hating it.

That's not what I meant. I meant that Avatar has a huge fanbase, yet it doesn't get shit like fanmade games that look somewhat professional and all of this fancontent on the level of MLP. In terms of positive reactions, it just seems odd to me that MLP would have such a level of hype to it that something like Avatar never really had.Kapura said:Because Avatar isn't polarising. The only backlash Avatar got was from the shippings wars that occurred on boards.
All niche products with a dedicated fanbase get some incredible things. The difference is that ponies insist on broadcasting it.Big One said:That's not what I meant. ...B!TCH said:My Little Pony? People keep saying it's a show for little girls but I doubt any children actually watch this show - it's a little too condescending and cynical towards children to have that kind of appeal. Just like the show Invader Zim before it, which had a large following from the "hot topic" crowd, My Little Pony seems popular with the "internet meme" crowd. The types of people who do things like say the letters "L O L" out loud in real life, wear t-shirts with internet jokes printed on them and know what /b/ is and probably post on it regularly.

Not even trolls touch my little pony threads on certain other, larger, internet boards. Everybody is sick of that nonsense. I'm not saying that trolls don't use my little pony images to troll, I'm saying they are using them because they're also fans too. Annoying, macro-spamming fans.akira28 said:Can you expect pony fans to vouch for the insanity that is the internet? r even the people out there who troll pony subjects? 90% of the time they're more into trolling than they are MLP and have just latched onto the most recent recognizable fad.
I'd much prefer if the sickos and freaks avoided stuff that I liked too, but then the entertainment industry would be nowhere.

Just plain cruel
We still get stupid Avatar reaction shots in half the threads. Nobody's safe.Kapura said:All niche products with a dedicated fanbase get some incredible things. The difference is that ponies insist on broadcasting it.

Probably same fans, too.

they argue against it because the show's creator posted that it wasn't for girls on her deviantART pageDuki said:its literally a show for little girls, i dont know why ponylovers try to argue so much against this

I didn't realize making a reasonable post would result in such hatred, oh lawd. What a terrible postOtrebor Nightmarecoat said:Hey if you like little girl stuff and have reasons to justify your little girly girl tendencies like you think it has"great animation" its "funny!" and its "adorable" more power to ya. You should meet sonic fans. You have much in common.
Alright, it seems a bit strange, but in my experience with me and the trolls I know we're just so sick of the whole goddamned thing that it's not even worth trolling. It only makes us angry; like the our hate is only fueling the fire. But I'll admit that there are surely some crazed, brave,akira28 said:You mean to say that trolls would't trawl the depths of MLP threads for pony subject matter because they know how many people hate it, and it's so provocative that it would only cause trouble if posted abusingly? So they wouldn't do it, you say? That they must be legitimate fans of the show, in order to troll post the show, because they want to annoy people and hurt the reputation of the subject matter by being obnoxious? Because they really like MLP? Just crazy fanatical about MLP? I don't buy it, mister.
