The polarizing reactions to My Little Pony

Im sorry we couldnt seriously discuss My little Pony show and its effects on todays society properly. As we enter an era where acceptance is the norm and the term discrimination is policed by us with an iron fist people's hidden desires go public. A show like this messes with the generational gap, stretching it even further. Where as a boy played with soldiers and a girl played with mlp in the 80's and 90's now with such problems in our society as accepting homosexuals and the fear it ignites because of the unknown effects of them entering the matrimonial scene on our children. MLP is change on our conservative views. Most people dislike change. As fellow men we worry our brothers will forever stay virgins just because they are brave enough to accept themselves and not play by our rules. Women see this mlp fans as mangirlchildren, a status that automatically makes them freaks.

As time moves the acceptable actions have gotten a boarder list. Men liking a pixar films or other cartoons, an action that in another decade indicated an infantile behavior is not so frown upon now. From reading around different places people like this show for its excellent animation and positive morals it conveys. It certainly its different from the crude and ugly world that we live in. For them the show is for all ages. Children see pretty colors and cute horses but they see superb animation and interesting storylines that appeal to them.

Super Mario Galaxy is a game that looks like its made for toddlers. It has a simple, cutesy story made from a children's storybooks and its visuals look like candy and people love that. Still, some people like me think the gameplay is so phenomenal people see past that and enjoy their time with it. So here we have two different aspects: The "I know this is not for my age but I adore it" and the "I love this. I must share my joy with the world no matter what society's norms are". MLP is controversial. It annoys insecure men and people like to troll with it, that's why it creates such a reaction.

I only went to this thread to see your amazing trolling.

I left satisfied. Thanks for redeeming this garbage fest of a thread.

Gotta admit Judge Doom killing the little cowgirl pony is cute. I think it's the clueless expression right up until the moment she hits the "dip". LOL Burn baby burn!

i think we can all come together around applejack dying a horribly painful death via dip.
Because even pony fans hate Applejack, and think she should experience the dip.

I know of more men that watch this than women.

not saying whether that's bad or good, just an observation

I saw like the first three or four episodes of that show and I didn't understand the appeal, honestly.
That's cool. The show isn't for everyone.

As long as you don't turn in to a raging maniac at the very mention of the show, I don't think any fans of the show will care. :P

reading the first 3 pages of this thread and then this last page is a stark contrast
The mlp fanbase understands it is an easy target and has developed a rather thick skin along with a very reasonable attitude towards those who dislike the show in addition to the ability to laugh at ourselves. We know that watching an animated show about ponies is goofy, and we don't care. When that is coupled with an extremely supportive fanbase, it is tough to stop the positive feelings.

It's the magic of friendship, yo.

I wonder what that word would be?
He has recognized the true calling of straight, male PonyGAF: Metrosexuality. All the masculinity, all the class, all the fabulosity, all combined. It's kind of like Blade's vampire powers.

-criticize these monsters and their delinquent show on OT
-one of them alerts the hivemind on community
-after you see a page of normal people discussion you see 3-4 extra pages full of pony avatars
-most, if not all try to drive the argument in a million different directions using strawmen, fanart, and other ways
-thread becomes new MLP OT thread

We're getting off the path here. 4 and 3 need to be switched.

Wouldn't make much sense to reference a post without quoting it.
yea... but now you're the guy who goes 'you know what i should have said!' after you're in the car driving home.

Oh lawd, the fanbase has taken over the thread with their typically lame, obsessive bullshit. I suppose it was on the cards the entire time, but anyway...

Nah, I'd say they took over by not raging hard and just let the haters rage.
