Interesting could there be a hidden message? Maybe a December showcase?

Possible, people I trust said this right after the PS5 Pro reveal we would get a real showcase showing what it can do with some big name titles

The sad thing is that it's just $20 less than the introduction price in 2020... :messenger_unamused:

- Increase price a few months before black friday
- Reduce price to original and cut off another $10 or $20 off of it
- MASSIVE SAVINGS Y'ALL!

The retailer handbook.

Not what I was referring to, and perhaps I should have phrased that better.
Split was 80/20 with the PS4 Pro. Given the price disparity, i wouldn't be surprised if the splits were significantly more in favor of the base console this cycle, compared to the previous one.
I got what you were saying. The base model will continue to sell more; unless Sony just replaces it with the Pro model.

These things are selling used for 200-250. Lurk at your local Bestbuy for anyone trying to trade in.
So, not exactly.

Sold price range for recently sold has been between: $275-$370.

The lowest I found was like $129 but I could not see the listing details, so if it is that low there must be something wrong with it or it was an auction and the buyer got really lucky?

This is just based off of ebay but on Mercari the prices listed seem to be within that range. With this price drop, they will likely be dropping.

I am not sure what the trade-in prices are... most stores might be running promos if we're lucky. Anyhow, $200-250 seems low to me based on what I have been seeing.

Just using your post to tell everyone that Gamestops web site is currently down. Everyone is hugging it to death for used consoles?
Seriously it's down.

Does anyone know if a US bought PS5 would work in Europe without issues? I was thinking of surprising one of my favorite online friends with a digital slim model for Christmas, but I've heard the voltages are a potential concern.

Launch price: USD$399.99
Time limited price: USD$379.99
Time limited saving: USD$20.00

'member when hardware got cheaper across a generation? I 'member.

Selling my PS5 OG on eBay to offset my PS5 Pro purchase. Still trying to decide if I should sell my Series X to buy and offset the new Series X with 2TB drive.
So I did the same thing to fund the PS5 Pro but I can't imagine selling my SX just for a hard drive upgrade…you can just get a 1 TB card and call it a day.

Sony is genuinely trying to push an all digital future.
Another thread was saying how hard it was to get a disc drive for his pro.
Just little steps or slowly boiling frog as it were.

I'd be surprised if the PS6 has a disc drive option
It wont.
Said it before its clear as day the modular disc drive is surely forward compatible. You need to update it to even use it.

So basically $329 cheaper than the PS5 Pro during the holiday shopping frenzy.

If one needed any more confirmation that Sony still expects the overwhelming majority of sales to come from the base consoles.

That was never in doubt

Disc-rich console should get similar discount too, as leaked earlier:

Instead of giving discounts on the console, how about permanently returning the price in other territories (especially Japan) to the original price?

Split was around 80/20 after the PS4 pro launched, closer to 13% overall:

The yen is so weak they'd be bleeding money.

Tell me about it, been living here for 15 years already and have to see how basically I get less and less salary…

Anyway even considering the exchange rate the prices are insane. And especially for the Pro I don't get it why in every country it's around 100 USD more expensive compared to the USA. I mean I get it that they don't care about Japan anymore, considering that console is a rather niche product here, but they do the same thing in Europe. So instead of making it even more cheap for Americans, their main focus should be to have equal prices around the world…

Sonys really gone hard on digital this year. It's been such a hard shift in what seems out of no where to me. Luke the last 6 months of this year.

It's interesting. Maybe they expected digital adoption to be higher so now they are doing their best to force it.

Increase sales on the digital system. Reduce production on the disk drive.

two years after the PS2 came out you couldget one for like $150.
Yep. Fun times...and what's funny about that is PS2 was absolutely dominant that gen so its not Xbox/Gamecube was pressuring them into price-cuts. It just shows how the mindsets have changed at the leadership level over the years.

About 20% VAT is the problem in Europe, it's 10% here in Australia.

The times when Sony was losing money on Hardware are long gone.

that thing should be $300, it's been 4 fucking years.
Less. It doesn't even come with the Drive that adds less than £5 to the BOM.

The CFO at Sony is an idiot if they don't realise that they need to actively sell more hardware, now than push for digital pricing, and not for Sony's direct benefit as the first reason, but all the 3rd parties that rely on them to sell lots of consoles which allows them to make lots of 3rd party 30%,

None of my more Nintendo causal gamer friends or my brother that all still eventually bought into PS1, PS2, PS3 (and half bought) PS4 in less then 4years would even consider this digital edition at any price.

Optically the default offering needs to be as feature rich as the OG PS5 and costing £249 or less at this late gen stage to add casuals.

One of my nephews is a huge Souls fan, now after playing Elden Ring on RTX 2060 super PC and is a prime candidate to play PlayStation exclusives Demon's souls and Bloodborne on a PS5 and get his PC gaming friends all interested, but without a Disc based PS5 priced less then his next GPU upgrade or at a price to entice his Dad - which £379 is no where close - he just isn't going to get interested and the market share of PlayStation console gaming is going to continue to be eaten by PC IMO.

Are you guys seeing the price cuts? They're still the same price everywhere I look.

No thanks, I'll wait for a discounted PS5 slim disc edition, or I might just buy a refurbished model from Sony and be done with it.

Lmao, it looks like they took down the original video. Here's a screenshot from the other forum:

They probably "leaked" the price cut by accidentally uploading the wrong video.

The ad that is now offline was about 30 seconds long and may be posted on Dec. 3 since that date is "hidden" in the longer ad without the price cut, see @ 0:47
