The PS5/XS released almost FIVE years ago, what's changed in your life since then?

Built a new PC, but my playing habits shifted more to indies and emulation. Moved into a new place where I have a dedicated office, built my first NAS server where I de-googled everything (except gmail for youtube and maps) and dropped cloud services in favor of self-hosting everything. Started getting into Homelab after my "smart" light bulbs app failed because of their cloud server, and got them to work locally with Home Assistant.

Also got to back up all the family photos/videos + my dvd/blu-ray collection to digital files on a NAS media server to stream whenever/wherever I want.

I cared about Xbox, Playstation, Steam and Nintendo in 2020

Now i care only care about Steam and Nintendo and dont plan on owning a XB/PS again.

Not much other than I can't remember the last time I turned on my series X and I played a grand total of two Sony 1st party exclusives.

Had XSX from day1 and PS5 a bit later. Sold PS5 and still have my XSX. Turn it on pretty much every day despite not having a lot of free time. Also around 200000 gamerscore since then. Backlog way more fatter than before.

Change of lifestyle, lost 40kg/88lb, daily exercise, quit smoking. I'll fuck off soon enough, no need to speed it up. I want to hang around and annoy my family and loved ones for as long as possible. 😁

Handhelds and retro gaming started taking over a much larger part of my gaming time. But both my PC and PS5 still get some love for bespoke titles.

Joined NeoGaf, my only regret is that I didn't find this place sooner.

Moved and got a house. Kids are growing older (one is finishing Middle School and the other one just entered). I am still not exercising enough.

On gaming side, got PS5, XSX, Switch… and mainly play on my PC, my emu PC (hooked up to TV) or my Steam Deck.

I barely have any interest in Sony's current games with the exception of Astorbot and GT7, and the latter is still lacking on SP side. At least bunch of good PS4 titles were enhanced.. but then they went PC anyways.

I also got more into physical media, getting Blu-Rays for movies and even got back into CDs a bit (not into vinyl). And have older consoles hooked up to TV through Retrotink 5x (probably will splurge on 4K at some point).

I also finally ordered MiSTer FPGA with Multisystem, can't wait for it to ship this year!

I became a full blown bitter wageslave with the highlight of my month being pay day. All my friends are getting married and having kids. It sucks leaving the carefree 20's behind.

Got married.
Moved to another city.
Changed my role at work.
Finished a second college degree.
Started a masters degree (I'm almost half done)
Quit smoking (I actually switched to vaping, probably as bad health wise but at least I'm not bothering anyone with smoke)
Lost 20 kg, gained 10kg back
Got an OLED TV (I got my first OLED at the same time I got the PS5)

I'm five years un-sober.

Daughter was born shortly before it released, had another daughter, got a promotion, 2 cats and 1 dog died of old age and just got a golden retriever named Cosmo 6 months ago.

Changed careers, got on anxiety meds. Gained 40 pounds. Lost 20 pounds. Struggled with depression more than ever. Decided it's time to be a PC gamer.

Let me see...

Faced covid, had to stop my surgical practice for 12 months and went to help in a local ICU, I don't think ill never see something like this again

Got a divorce, moved out of my old house, build a new one, man cave style, with zero female imput thank god. Best decision I ever made.

Spent two years zeroing my backlog of females that I accumulated during 16 years of marriage. Covid helped a lot with this btw.

Went to Paris with my daughter to keep a promise, she was 9 when I divorced and nobody supported me more than her. Amazing mature child.

Went to Spain alone, my first trip alone.. started alone than I met a nice lady from Puerto Rico and things got interesting for a while

Came back and eventually met my current girlfriend (three years now) and have a very health relationship

And this past month I opened a new private surgical practice together with a good co-worker of mine

Dude, so much has changed. I was working a dead-end rideshare job (Uber/Lyft). Then lock-downs happened, smoked a ton of weed, grew a weed bush, then moved from CA to WA, got a bunch of IT/Networking certificates and landed a job with Amazon. I've since moved back to CA, about 2 years ago. Still with Amazon and now have a base PS5 and a Pro. I still don't game much, but I do enjoy owning a Pro.

Thanks, Covid!

Bought a PS5 to have a console with fewer games to play than my last lamest console, the WiiU. It could just be where I am at in life though, as this generation has been a snooze, but I am a lot busier with other shit, so I don't care.

Im guessing by your wording it hasnt been the best few yrs for you, im glad your Jack helps you through, they arw always there when we need them, hopefully things will be better mate if things have been abit rough.
A bit of both honestly.

I got atopic dermatitis out of a blue in a span of a year too.

It's amazing what people can live with and get used to, lmao.

I already have bath oilments and cream which is best suited for me and mostly gets rid of everything.
