I don't know why it wouldn't be ok to talk about crust punk, crustcore, blackened crust, powerviolence etc. Not sure about grindcore since it would fit in both the punk thread and the metal thread. I suspect it might go down better in the metal thread though.animlboogy said:How much are we gonna bend the definition of punk in here? I'd say all the ska fusion stuff that the first chunk of this thread is made up of would probably make it okay to talk about blackened/crust/grind stuff if it seems to fit more here than in the metal thread. Let them have more room to talk about Blind Guardian or whatever, so we can get this thread active!
I've been listening to http://soundcloud.com/theavclub/alaric-your-god today after reading about them in the latest Loud column on AVClub. Pretty solid deathrock/post-punk/not sure exactly what to call it. The half-shout vocals are kind of grating at times, but the songs are there. Great stuff. I'm probably going to order the record.
If you're a fan of Joy Division, early Christian Death, or any of the bands on the more bleak end of post-punk, you'll probably be into this.
That track was nice. Vocals seemed a bit out of place at times.
