What do you guys consider the best Homer + Lisa moment and Marge + Bart moment?

The end of Lisa's Wedding is pretty solid, when Lisa is really happy to see Homer and enthralled by his stories of eating too much. Their whole time goofing off together in Bart on the Road might win though.

I agree with these.

Marge/Bart: The end of Bart the Mother.

These two also.

Actually, I'd put the Lost our Lisa moment before the Bart on the Road one. But keep the Marge Be Not Proud moment before Bart the Mother. But really, they're so close. And really good moments.

I'm on a Simpsons binge-watching spree at the moment and just found out about this thread. I feel like I struck gold !

I'd say Make Room For Lisa, especially for what happened to her room in the beginning

That was such an awful thing to do to her, Homer. Actually, he's quite awful to Lisa most of the episode, but the way he redeems himself towards the end makes it all worth it.

As for Marge and Bart well

Marge and Bart is an easy one for me:

Yeah, this is the one :D

Marge Not Proud is also my favorite.

As for Homer and Lisa, it's Lost Our Lisa and that beauty pageant episode.

Generally I like those bonding episodes, though I never really liked the conclusion of the vegetarian episode.

"No..."
"He sold his ride on the Duff blimp."
"But that ride meant everything to him!"

Bart rented a car with a phony driver's license and drove Milhouse, Martin, and Nelson to a wig outlet in Knoxville and the car got crushed and they're out of money and they can't get home and Bart's working as a courier and just came back from Hong Kong!

Would you excuse me for a moment?

*screams in the suit*

And Homer really loves Lisa. This line is so touching even if it's short.

Homer: Hey, nobody's prettier than my little girl!
Marge: You're looking at her through a father's eyes.
Homer: Well if I could gouge out somebody else's eyes and shove them into my sockets I would but to me, she's beautiful!

Yeah, I considered mentioning that moment, but it kind of feels cheap for whatever reason.

It's because the conclusion feels rushed. Lisa didn't get reprimanded for her attitude and it was Homer who should "adjust". Hell, no one seems to mind Lisa's eating habits so why does he have to learn a lesson? I honestly blame the McCartney guy.

And because nothing is touching Marge Be Not Proud from classic era examples, here's one that came afterwards (DANGER! WARNING! BLASPHEMOUS! CAST OUT THE HEATHEN ONE!)...

More Bart + Marge bonding was one of the better things modern era Simpsons did. They hardly had emotional moments like Lisa + Homer in old Simpsons.

Good one, I forgot about that. Homer and Lisa are pretty great throughout that entire episode.

"I believe you honey."
"You do?"
"Of course I do. You're always right about this type of thing and for once I want in on the ground floor."
"Thanks Dad."

"Ms. Hoover thought I made the whole thing up. She called me a 'PC thug'."
"Well I've been called a greasy thug too! And it never stops hurting."

"DIG HIM UP! DIG UP THAT CORPSE! If you really love Jebediah Springfield, you'll haul his bones out of the ground to prove my daughter wrong. DIG UP HIS GRAVE, PULL OUT HIS TONGUE!"

Also whenever Lisa realizes that Homer does a lot of stuff for him it really is good.

Stuff like Make Room for Lisa and hell even HOM3R where Homer realizes how sad Lisa is due to her intelligence.

But yeah there's a distinct lack of abundance of Marge + Bart moments.

Oh yeah the pony ep was pretty gud

With that said it bothers me why they can't even visit the stable.

In honor of the holidays, a Nelson Muntz christmas song.

Joy to the world the teacher's dead
We barbequed her head
What happened to her body?
We flushed it down the potty
And round and round it goes...

What people may not immediately catch on to is that Lisa is more concerned that Bart will know that Lisa told on him rather than Homer murdering him.

Yeah that's the clincher part. The whole setup was really good.

You know, that episode showed Milhouse's dad being "successful" in running the biscuit company... or is it because he's spending so much that he made it tie for third with Allied Biscuit?

Well, he's strangled Bart so many times that what he said was almost an empty threat. Basically in the Simpsons universe, nobody cares.

I'm watching Mel Brooks' Silent Movie, and I can't stop laughing about that scene in "Like Father, Like Clown" where Homer says, "Mel Brooks is Jewish?!?!?" The incredulity just kills me every time.

This makes me ball like a baby every time. no matter what. it's so goddamn fucking sweet and heart rendering... she's so hurt by Bart and then he makes it up completely. UGH.

Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Simpson?
This is detective Don Brodka from Try-N-Save security.
That's right, Don Brodka.
Your son Bart has been caught shoplifting.
Uh huh.
Yeah, it's a shame, I know, but...well, try and have a merry Christmas.
[hangs up]
They weren't home, uh huh.
But I left a message on their answering machine, that's right.

I think that was the first Simpsons episode I caught live...back in '95 was it?

Right when Bart was doing his "Black Sheep" monologue.

'The Simpsons' Christmas Episodes: It's The Most Cromulent Time Of The Year - Huffingtonpost.ca - December 19th, 2013

Personally, I'd have to put Holidays of Future Passed in the #2 slot (yes, it really is that good) ahead of Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire just due to it holding up better without the nostalgia goggles. It's hard for anything to displace Marge Be Not Proud, though. It sort of wins by default being the only Christmas ep that took place during the Classic era.

This year's White Christmas Blues was nonsensical trash that should be avoided. Arguably the worst Christmas ep in the series unless you count Dude, Where's My Ranch? which I've included in the above list for completion's sake even though it premiered in late April.

The Ullman short shouldn't be overlooked, either. It's a winning rendition of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas courtesy of Bart.

'Twas the night before Christmas,
And all through the home,
Not a creature was stirring,
'cept for me and this poem.

My sisters were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of candy bars danced in their heads.
Then I sprang like a spring, and snuck like a sneak,
Down the stairs to the gifts, for just a quick peek.

When lo and behold, what did I see?
Lisa and Maggie had just beaten me.
I poked at my package, and said, "This is rad, man!"
Then noticed Dad's shadow, he looked like a madman.

"Oh Maggie, oh Lisa, oh little Bartholomew.
Go upstairs, go right now, before I kill all of you!"
And so into bed we fled in a flash,
Awaiting 'til morning to open our stash.

At last, daybreak came, and we scampered so cheerily,
While Mom and Dad yawned and gazed at us, wearily.
For Maggie, a pacifier. For Lisa, some dolls.
For me, a big burp-gun which shoots ping-pong balls.

Then on came the T.V., and we started to doze
through all the exciting Christmas theme shows.
So, to those of you groovin' on my holiday rap,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good nap.

Holiday Future Passed is the one with another what-if future right? I liked that too. It shows that Homer, despite his failings, is lovable and is even loved by his grandkids.

"Hello muddah.
Hello faddah"

Marge, is Lisa in Camp Granada?
