So I started watching season 1 last night.

Holy moly, the animation. It has come a long way.
Ah yes... the glory days. When Smithers was black, Lou was white, Barney was blonde, Wiggum had black hair, Moe's bar was blue and Homer still sounded like Walter Matthau.

Indeed, she was kinda hot.

You know, I've been thinking of a popular Simpsons meme:

Looking it up, I've noticed it comes from a 13th season episode. Surprising that such a popular image comes from a post-classic episode.

Just because an episode isn't from the first 9 seasons doesn't mean it isn't funny/has funny bits.

Season 13 also gave us the fantastic bit with Homer watching "When Dinosaurs Get Drunk", only to get canceled and replaced with "The Boring World of Neils Bohr"

At work, so can't gif homer mowing the lawn.

Bart: "Well, Dad, here's my report card. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised."
Homer: "'A+'!? You don't think much of me, do you, boy?"
Bart: "No, sir."
Homer: "You know a 'D' turns into a 'B' so easily. You just got greedy."
Bart: "So I won't get to go to camp?"
Homer: "Now, Bart, we made this deal because I thought it would help you get good grades. And you didn't. But why should you pay for my mistake?"
Bart: "You mean I can go?"
Homer: "Yeah. I didn't want you hangin' around all summer anyway."
Bart: "Oh, Dad! You're the best father a boy could ever have."
Homer: "Thanks, son. Now, you've got little hands ... could you reach under the mower and pull out that skate?"

Season 7 is absolutely the best season and I won't hear differently. It would have also been an amazing jumping-off point if they decided to actually age the characters and focus more on character development. (Hell, as great Season 8 is, I'm totally bummed everything that happens to Lisa is basically ignored. She learns not to be a know-it-all! She learns how to make friends!)

Agreed, was my first reaction when I watched all of them in a row.

Summer of 4 Foot 2 is easily my favorite of all the season finales. It doesn't elevate Season 7 above all of the others that preceded it for me but I can understand how it could for someone else.

Fast forward 18 years and we just had an episode where Lisa decided she didn't need to have friends her age at all so Marge decided she would secretly bribe another kid to befriend Lisa and hang out with her.
Needless to say, that didn't pan out well at all.

Funny that you mention that, part of last night's new episode was about Marge paying another little girl to be Lisa's friend because she couldn't make any of her own.

Edit: Whoops, UberTag mentioned it above. That's what I get for not refreshing the page before I post.

I love that bit. But what's the meaning of the "English", is that a common thing for Amish people to say randomly?

Amish = Swiss-German roots

WASP = English roots.
Yeah, I really noticed that when I watched Witness for the first time a couple of nights ago...which incidentally had another bit that the Simpsons referenced (when those redneck types badger the Amish by rubbing ice cream onto one of their faces). Oh and...

If you held a gun to my head, I'd tell you my favorite season of The Simpsons was Season 6.
Season 4 is an easy runner-up. With Season 7 boasting my favorite season finale.

Season 6 is my favorite:

Itchy and Scratchy Land
Treehouse of Horror V (Time and Punishment is my favorite segment)
Homer Badman
Bart's Comet
Bart vs. Australia
A Star Is Burns (I was saying Boo-urns!)
Lemon of Troy (my favorite episode)

I have to give credit to Season 7 with The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular, The Day The Violence Died, Bart on the Road, and 22 Short Films About Springfield.
