Decent enough first episode and the premise is certainly intriguing
I'll keep watching to see where they go from here as it shows some promise and some nice gore in this also hopefully they keep that up
Great opener. Most surprisingly the smaller character actors were the highlight of the pilot, such as Andrew Divoff, Jonathan Hyde, and the impeccable David Bradley.
Will be watching this tonight. Looking forward to see Nikolai Witschl (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5775621/?ref_=tt_cl_t3). Watched him locally here in Edmonton over the years, great local actor. Can't wait to see him on this show.
Hmm, I liked the genuinely creepy horror scenes and the mix of sci-fi action and horror BUT the cheeseball dialogue, weird timing on a lot of the character stuff and the overall meh drama + Corey Stoll's wig were a turn off. I'm in for a few but hoping it gets better (and that there's a story reason for Stoll to lose his hair!).
Had a good time with this show last night. Shouldn't have watched it immediately before going to bed though. Woke up thinking the worm things were trying to get inside me, multiple times.
And it's rare anything on TV will get to me like that.
I'm thrilled to hear GDT suggest that the show will diverge from the books after Season/Book 2, because while the second book was weaker than the first one, the third was just comically stupid. If they go with something more "even" in tone, or perhaps have a whole new season in between to help make the damn-near-genre-change less sudden and pronounced, then this could be good.
All that aside, the pilot was pretty enjoyable with a few lines that were just delivered soooo horribly. My early hunch is that Setrakian's character will come through the adaptation best, while Nora's actress just seems atrocious at the other end of the spectrum.
Because the "plan" in play, even keeping it spoiler free, is obviously very calculated and controlled. Remember when the German informed Palmer how things were going and mentioned the "survivors" being found and released? Obviously they have a very specific way they want the next few days to unfold, and having a blood-drained corpse might throw that out the window.

The intent wasn't to hide the body - book spoiler:
the intent was to destroy it so the body doesn't turn and screw with the Master's calculus of infection. He's depending on an exact number of vampires being active at a particular moment in time, and having just one off could potentially screw with his plan.
This is just my take as someone who knows nothing about the books or story arc, but what if the coffin vampire can transform into the people he sucked the blood from. That would be a great reason for smashing in the head, nobody will know that he's an imposter.
Thought the the episode could have been a bit tighter and another run through of the dialogue would have been helpful. Will be back for episode two, but it is definitely one of those shows that can lose my interests really fast (e.g. Helix).
I feel like I should be watching this instead of The Leftovers (which is pretty underwhelming after 3 episodes). I only have room for one new show atm.

The premiere was decent enough. I wasn't expecting the show to be this corny, but I also wasn't expecting too much out of it in general so I'm not disappointed. Seems like a dumb Sunday night show to pass an hour with.
Really forgettable. Eph (lol at the name) backstory on his wife and kid is completely pointless and I saw no sort of controlling behavior in his work. Dialogue was cringe-worthy at times. My least favorite scene was the "Sweet Caroline" one specifically because it used this music. It was well-shot and gruesome but I hate how the horror genre always uses songs like this now. I'll give a couple more episodes a shot but it's not looking good..
i should prolly stop nitpicking when i watch this show but i can't help it.
why is rudy doing like 8 different jobs at the airport? man he is really versatile. i kept trying to pick apart their airport investigation even though i know nothing about that kind of stuff irl
the scene where the main character tells the guy that the average person touches their face 3 times a minute or whatever was so lame.
i swear that speech is in another movie/tv show but i couldn't place it.
It felt way too early to be showing monsters. I think it would attract a larger audience if it stayed more plausible with a traditional virus outbreak and slowly teased the more far fetched stuff.
Also, it seemed like a glorified CSI at times with all the technical jargon.
Promised I'd post a longer impression last night, so here goes.
Overall a really solid premiere - if the books hadnt already hooked me to the premise, this episode would have. Casting is top-notch as I said before, but this really cemented Stoll and Bradley as grade A character actors. Bradley as Setrakian appears so formidable despite his frailty, in no small part due to his badass sword cane. Book spoiler:
Though Im kind of sad its not Master-sized. Maybe theyre getting rid of that plot point in the show and just letting it be Setrakians cane.
I dont remember Goodweather being such a huge milk drinker - kind of like how GDT gave Hellboy an affinity for cats he doesnt have in the comics - but Stoll really nailed his casual detachedness from just about everything but his job. His hairpiece doesnt bother me nearly as much as I thought it would. =) Too many parallels between Goodweather and HoCs Peter Russo for him to rock the same look without people getting confused, I think. The visible text messages were a nice homage, too. Gus is a little more course than I was expecting, but that said he is a gangbanger so I didnt exactly expect him to be warm and cuddly. Nora is Nora, she wasnt a hugely compelling character in the books and she isnt in the show, but through no fault of her actress. Book spoiler:
I hope the show does well enough to reach the later arcs of the book, especially book three, so Noras character can really begin to shine
Sammel portrays a chilling Eichorst, who despite making an earlier appearance than in the books is a welcome addition - I look forward to seeing his interactions with Setrakian.
The only scene I wasn't entirely enamored with was the scene with the attendants on the plane before it lands, especially the hammy acting of the male attendant. That's not to say there's no room for hamminess in the show, but I would have preferred they cut the scene so as to make the initial exploration of the plane a bit more mysterious, if that makes sense. The scene wasn't in the book and I feel the scene with the dead plane was a lot more atmospheric and tense for it. That's just a small complaint, though.
The season preview at the end was amazing. I really think the shows going to pick up steam in the next few episodes, and once it picks up momentum shit just keeps hitting the fan perpetually (in a good way!). I can think of many scenarios from the books that I cant wait to see in the show.

Kate Winslet lectured someone about that in Contagion, although it was in better context than Eph trying to scare this guy into giving up jurisdiction.
I think it's solid. It gets overly hammy some times and you shouldn't expect to be scared to death but there are certainly a lot of interesting elements in the show. Hopefully the acting and writing quality increase as the episodes go along.
Not sure what to feel about this, love some parts and sorta hated the others.
I enjoyed the CDC investigation part, the mystery and the monster/worm/wierdness itself, but then the weird mafia and old guys conspiracies angle kinda ruined it for me.
And the spanish guy....OH MY GOD. I feel like punching something everytime he opens his mouth.
That's a post apocalyptic show with "walking dead" right in the title.
This is set in what is supposed to be a plausible reality, at least based on how much sciencey sounding stuff they said in the beginning, with a title that sounds like a thriller.
