The Strain S2 |OT| The Thirst Is Real - Sundays 10/9c

I mean, look, Eph is a bad shot but most of us would probably be as well. The ridiculousness of Eph's plan is that he thought that he, a person with no sniper training, could nail a dude from a rooftop with a WWII era rifle from a couple 100 feet away (I assume). It would have seemed more unrealistic if he made the shot.

Also, as far as next week's episode is concerned, I'm going to be really disappointed if they put Ruta Gedmintas on this show only to be tortured and/or refrigerator-wifed. I would like to think they created the character with the intention of doing something interesting with her but, then again, this is The Strain we're talking about. Trope city.

People are ragging on Eph being a terrible shot when I could only sit there and think the production team is so laughably bad at directing action sequences.

Eph actually took a great shot. He didn't aim for the head. He aimed center mass.

In real life that would be a confirmed hit. Didn't any of you take part in that physics thread where some had to explain how sound from a gun shot travels slower than the bullet itself?

He missed because the bodyguards hacked the Matrix and managed to force Eldritch down at the same time the sound could be heard. It was bullshit.

So much stupid.

Eph not taking a second shot despite lining it up. "Oh there's blood, therefore he must be dead. It's not like someone can be shot and still survive. It would certainly be uncouth to fire again."

How'd that cop know Eph was the shooter?

Dutch and Eph were imprisoned, and Eichorst chooses to only take Dutch for umm, reasons. Mmm hmm.

The police squad full of morons who hear gunshots and just give each other quizzical looks.

I feel like they named the character Coco solely to troll Jonathan Hyde. The writers are sitting their laughing their asses off at making Hyde read these lines that involve her name.

Edit: Oh, and Feraldo trying to institute new taxes on the Upper East Side. There are about a dozen immediate problems with such a plan.

I enjoyed this episode much more than the last couple. Pretty bummed about Dutch though. I didn't realize I had begun to like her character until she was escorted away in the police station. It really doesn't look too good for her though. One bite from Eichorst and she has the worms. Eph still sucks though.

Don't forget on the bolded that he is a wanted man. Hence him shaving his head. At least I think he is still labeled a terrorist.

Enjoyed it, especially the vamps trying to get into the jail cell. I was laughing at how tense that scene was, but ....

- how did the police react so quickly to Eph's assassination attempt?
- why the fuck didn't Eph and Dutch just apologize when they bumped into that cop and not run? Dude shouldn't have had even the slightest inkling that this random couple could be involved in the shooting.
- CoCo is alive? Fucking bummer.........:/ It makes me physically nauseas to watch any scene with her and Eldritch swooning over each other. Was hoping the Master would just snap her neck to show Eldritch what's up.

That one was much better than last week's. Speaking of last week, I take it that new intro was only a one time thing? If so, then thank god.

Also, I like that the doctors were operating on Coco in Palmer's office instead of a hospital. lol

Where was Zach in all of this lol? I don't remember him showing up too much right? That's good!

Zach took the week off, as did Mom Vamp, who apparently just gave up trying to get to him after the events of last week. Seriously, this would have been the perfect time for her to have tried to break back into Eph's hideout and take Zach while no one else was there.

(also where are Gus and Quinlan?)

Eph not taking a second shot despite lining it up. "Oh there's blood, therefore he must be dead. It's not like someone can be shot and still survive. It would certainly be uncouth to fire again."

Seriously. He had the perfect shot while Palmer was on the ground, too!

The police squad full of morons who hear gunshots and just give each other quizzical looks.

I lol'd irl during that scene. The whole setup was just so dumb. (the scene where Eph was trapped by the vamps in the cell was sort of neat though)

Yeah, very weird that the intro was cut in this one.Why even put any time into it, if it's just going to be used for one random episode?
And I didn't mind it. Better than the finger painting with blood on a bathroom wall.

Eph in the cell was stupid though. Surely they would be smart enough to move to the right side of the cell to get them, ya?

Slowly I'm started to realize more and more TV tropes as i watch and it really kills my time. :(

Oh, that scene is still coming. It just wasn't at critical mass stupid yet.

If that scene in the book is retarded, then the show will probably do it brilliantly.

Eph is such a loser that it's becoming hilarious. I'll miss him if he dies. His selfishness and idiocy really brings a smile to my face when I watch this ridiculous show.

Fun show, but ridiculous.

I love how the writing is so bad that the romances have shifted in a SINGLE episode. It's so silly!

that was cliche for Coco to get hit, but I guess it just needs to happen for the master to appear.

I wonder if Coco will lead to the master's downfall as she secretly sides with team slayer

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Eph's shooting skills when dealing with a named character.

So... is it just me or was Coco's purpose there just to die for the character development of Eldritch Palmer?

Not to sound like Anita Sarkeesian or anything, but it really feels like she had no other purpose in this show. I was curious to see what her game was, I imagined she's secretly working for the Master and using Eldritch or something, but they just took all that depth out of her and made her the flattest, most useless character in the show. Until she kills Eldritch, which will give me some pleasure.

I like Dutch :(

Show continues to be the dumbest of fun shows, and I'm still digging it. Need more Quin tho

I hope they are keeping the super badass Quin-Gus action for the finale..... it's next week's episode, isn't it?

I don't want to say they're keeping Quinlan off the show because it's expensive and time consuming to put on this costume every time, but.... that's probably one of the reasons.

Coco is such a waste of a character. Her whole involvement with Eldritch is cliche. So cliche I thought she was secretly a double agent for the Ancients but I GUESS NOT

Of course Coco gets shot and of course the Master appears to save her. So much for being an interesting character, she just turned out to be a plot device.

Honestly, where the fuck are the real players? Quinlan? Gus? The Wrestler? I've had enough of Eph and the crew, let's see the real stars.

Welp, so much for Dutch. Also, Eph should've totally taken the shot earlier if he was going to miss that bad.

Yeh, it was such a bad idea. He couldn't a guy in the previous episode and was a lot closer, but I'm glad they didn't magically make him an expert marksman.

I actually thought the directing in this episode was one of the weakest all season. Council lady's tone in the opening speech was all over the place, and to me it really fell differently to how she had been acting before. I felt that other characters stumble around in scenes too, more than usual. I still find the show very oddly entertaining because it is not challenging or hard to digest I s'pose.

I don't think she's done yet.

I got the impression from a previous episode when she's talking to someone on the phone that she's working Eldritch covertly for some unknown mission/agenda. That she was willing to seduce him and have sex (yuck) indicated to me how determined (important?) she believed her mission was.

I was surprised when she was shot and looked dead because it seemed like there was a cool back story to her. I was hoping she was going to be a member of some kind of ancient vampire hunting order working covertly. I hope that may still be the case because she seemed absolutely horrified and disgusted that she was brought back by the Master

Maybe she's acting, or she really was disgusted because that in the end is who she/they are after and can't believe she was brought back by him.

Haha, man... the most recent episode was so dumb/badly written in spots I laughed out loud. But still entertaining in kind of a trashy way so I'll keep watching.

I just realized that the vamp Attack on the police station was not a coordinated effort on no one's behalf, I thought it was something set up by the Máster to take out Eph, but it was the vampire hunters that capitalized on it.

Kinda my fault for thinking too hard about this show.

New episode today:
Season 2: episode 11 "Dead End"

Gus helps the Guptas get across the border; Fet, Nora and Eph look all over the city for Dutch, who's in a life-or-death struggle with Eichhorst; Setrakian meets a familiar face while searching for the Occido Lumen.

For a second there I thought Setrakian was going to break the ropes with his cranky old man rage.

He needs more work visine for that

Lol I still can't believe Setrakian got ko'd sneakily by a regular human being but when a vampire tries to sneak behind Setrakian, his reflexes will be on point. His excuse would probably be that he was distracted by the Occido Lumen...

Also, everybody getting their dick wet tonight in both The Strain and FTWD lol.

Nothing like an apocalypse to get the juices flowing
