The Strain S2 |OT| The Thirst Is Real - Sundays 10/9c

No Zack this episode?

Yep! I mean, we all hate him but like TWD, who the hell is watching the kid/s lol

Eichorst is such a bastard. Sacrificing his lover to be in the Nazi regime. Obviously we saw he didn't like it but he did it just so that people can respect and fear him, tsk tsk. Of course he gets away.... AGAIN.

Got a little screen time for Gus and Angel but it was alright. Can't wait to see more Quinlan/Gus action tho.

This Lumen stuff is super tiresome. Just give him the fucking book already, nobody cares.

Between everything we've seen of Eichorst being a vile Nazi and a bloodthirsty vampire, I don't think we really needed him threatening sickening rape. That scenario already had enough woman in peril material before crossing into full-on self-indulgent exploitation.

Well at least this episode was something ... different. But at the end of the day it did devolve back into a tension free escape through a nondescript Canadian building.

It doesn't have to be GoT where every other character gets it, but there needs to be some stakes here.

Eph's shooting skills when dealing with a named character.

this is suddenly becoming extremely slow.
the tentacle rape scene was pretty gross, we saw some Gus which is progress but no Quinlan.

Seriously, I wish they'd speed it up a bit... :(

The only reason I care about that plot-line is to see Quinlan do badass shit.

This. So much.

AV Club review sums up my thoughts pretty well. Some good stuff in there, marred by that completely unnecessary scene. The stuff with Gus and Angel has been so badly done. The only reason I care about that plot-line is to see Quinlan do badass shit.

Interesting. The character work between Gus and Angel has been the stuff I most look forward to every episode. Quinlan is cool, but other than Fet, Gus is the most interesting guy on the show for me.

Whenever Eph is on screen, i wish someone would punch him.

Also, i didn't rewind, but Eichorst is starting to become a Scooby Doo villain. He just NARROWLY escaped our heroes' clutches again! I don't remember what he said when Fet through that flash grenade, but in my mind i heard, "CURSES!!!"

Which made that even funnier.

I mean they could be interesting, but the show has no interest in spending more than a few minutes with them at a time. I feel like I've had to watch the Cliff Notes version of that plot and thus have no attachment to any of them. Gus and the Guptas' daughter (I can't even think of her name) is supposed to be some star-crossed lovers thing but who cares when we don't really know either of them very well. Gus and Angel are BFF now after, what, the fight in the apartment building or something? They've done those characters a disservice.

I heard "scheiße". "CURSES" would have been fucking amazing.

Show is moving really slowly. Still enjoy it but I really wish something eventful would happen like a major character death or something. It's starting to feel cartoony in that neither the bad or good guys ever get killed. The good guys always get saved at the last second and the bad guys always manage to run away. Hell we can't even get rid of Coco.

Honestly the only way this whole scene pays off is if the Master gets tired of Eichorst failing and offs him.

It sort of feels like they are setting this up but I'm very doubtful because that would give the show too much credit.

The way the show is developing Eichorst I feel like he'll somehow kill the master and take over. They keep showing how insecure he is and how he flips on people.

Why can't the old guy just offer to take photos of each page of the Lumen with his phone?

You should know by now that the show doesn't function with basic logic.

It's not just any book though. Fat chance is it won't work.

Also minor book spoilers/hint:
You need certain environment to be able to read the Lumen. I mean this should make sense by now, seeing that the guy who's had it for the past 30+ years seemed pretty oblivious to it or what it is.

Fun episode for Eichorst (even though he keeps getting away just in the nick of time holy shit stop with that bullshit already god).

Terrible for everyone else.

I haven't read the books, but it seems like they're really stretching the material to get 5 seasons out of it when the narrative might be better suited to just 3.

Hecan'tkeepgettingawaywithit.gif.

Perfect.

Indeed. The Lumen storyline has gone on for far too long. I'm way past the point of caring.

It doesn't have to be GoT where every other character gets it, but there needs to be some stakes here.

Yep. Nothing of consequence ever happens to any of the characters and that is a huge problem for a show like this.

I hope the Lumen turns out to be a big crock, filled with misinformation and bogus incantations. I want to see our team confidently build an entire attack plan around something gleaned from the book only to have it do nothing. And then Setrackian will rage out, do his scream at the sky thing, and murder the book.

Eichorst is gross. Fuck him and the writers for potentially ruining one of my favorite fruits.

The fuck at the tentacle scene. The fuck. And LOL at Dutch not closing the door after she got out.

Sigh.

No Zac was nice, but not I'm happy at the lack of Quinlan, Also happy to see Gus and Angel together. Can't wait to see them wreck some shit.

They never specifically explained it, but I assumed it would be something to the effect of "but the pages are in a special coating (or spelled) in such a way that you can only see what is really on them in a specific light!". Which of course is still nonsense, shoehorned in to fit the book chase.

You know though, that even if they do end up getting the book, something will happen when they try to read it. The page will cumble to dust or some other such cliche trope.

The fuck at the tentacle scene.

No lack of creativity or taste is going to stop this show from throwing every single random idea that pops into a writer's head. It's almost like they have a checklist of formulatic horror or pop culture references, and it was time for the hentai scene.

Stretching book 2 into 2 seasons is ridiculously evident now, should just have been 3 seasons

This the Strain buddy. The Lumen will escape at the last second and find it's way to a new owner like the One Ring.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Man, Eichort is an incompetent ass henchman, no wonder The Master passed him for a punk rocker as his host.

I wonder if that tentacle hentai is in the book or even his flashback

nope.

I honestly don't think the show is anything like the books.
It's very very very different so far. The grand picture of things appears to be the same but the characters, character development, action - it's all very different. Half the characters in the tv show don't even exist in the books, the other half were never really anything more than a background minion.

Not really spoilers, but it's just pointing out general information about the tv show vs the book, it's your choice if you wanna stay away from that stuff, hence I spoiler tagged it. :p

I wonder what the Master thinks about that tentacle scene, or if he is going to sit the Nazi down later and just ask him WTF?

Most of this season has just been straight boring.
