iPhone 6 (plus, dat OIS).

Not iPhone 6.

Welcome to the world of smartphones. If you're familiar with Raw you can now shoot Raw with the Nexus 5 and Nexus 6. That way you can process night shots much better if you have the software.

I really, really, really wish Apple offered a Raw option in the camera settings. You'd think they would, especially since Raw support is baked directly into OS X and they're quite proud of it.

Android has a lot of features and bloatware that you will most likely never use. I have a note 2 and switched back over to an iPhone 6 plus. It really just depends on how you will use your phone. The iPhone has a better build quality, interface, apps, and messaging system. My android had better customization and productivity apps. if you use your phone primarily for chatting with friends, listening to music, and entertainment, get an iPhone. If you use it primarily for work or school, get an Android. It really is that simple, or at least in my case it is.

It was in active use for two years until I got my 6+. It has almost 300 cycles on it. It still has 90% of its battery.

You still don't realize that I don't give a shit about personal anecdotes. A quick search for iPhone 5 "full charge capacity" in Google shows plenty of people who didn't get a lucky draw (and who don't keep their phone in their drawer).

What bloatware? 95% of the apps included by the provider or manufacturer don't run unless you tell them to run. They just sit in their little folders (Google, Samsung, Verizon) at the top of the first page of the application selector. They do nothing. They cost nothing.

Meanwhile, Apple has only 1 GB of RAM. Have fun browsing the web while listening to Spotify on that. Every single time you switch tabs or go back, you're going to need to refresh and waste data. The poor thing can't store anything in temporary memory.

A few apps take advantage of uncompressed photo and video. I've had some great results with FilmicPro. I am surprised it does not get mentioned more often.

One example on a 4S.

Apple products be so good it makes me wanna cry. On a MacBook Pro, sitting with my iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6. Clearly, I'd recommend them.

Given what you want I would get a high end Android phone.

Personally me and my partner used to both have iPhones but switched to Android and have never really looked back. In fact with her yearly work upgrade she got an iPhone 6 a few months ago and hated how restricted it was, sold it and got a Galaxy Note 4 which she now loves.

Uhm..

I'm sure they do exist, but none of the models I see out in the wild. At my office it's all either:

Note 4
S5
iPhone 6

After the Note 3, S4, iPhone 5 generation, half the Apple users jumped ship. I don't know if any of the Apple users will remain loyal after this generation. The price premium vs technological limitations were just too stark.

Sure buddy... You don't give a shit about them, huh?

Sample Size: 1 (which a simple Google search easily invalidates)

vs

Sample Size: 350+ (which a look at market share charts easily validates)

I know, I know. Math is hard. It's ok. If you stick around I'll help you understand how 3 GB RAM is greater than 1.

My 1520 lacks a removable battery but that titan-like battery life can't possibly get noticeably bad at the end of my phone contract.

iPhone 6 Plus is the best phone I've ever owned. So much better than the iPhone 5, which had a fair amount of hardware issues in my experience, and 5s with its shitty battery life.

Only real caveat is the general drop in quality of iOS 8.x compared to former releases. the hardware and build quality are amazing.

This is what makes current iPhones a chore to use to me. I cannot believe they are still holding at 1GB to squeeze more money out of these things.

People will lose their shit over an Android phone having a quarter of a second drop of frame rate with 1 million applications open, but won't bat an eye at losing several minutes a day everytime Safari has to reload the fucking page after multitasking. I absolutely can't stand it. Makes doing anything other than solely browsing the web feel like a damn chore.

The Wall Street Journal draws our attention to a recent WDS survey of more than 3,000 smartphone owners that asked them whether they planned to stick with their current brand the next time they bought a new device. Unsurprisingly Apple fans were the most loyal, as 76% said they planned to stick with the iPhone.

Oh man, I forgot about the cords. My favorite topic, lol.

When I want to buy a USB data/charging cable for my phone, which then works with countless other devices, I can drop $4 for it.

But (oh God hold on I have to stop laughing), if I'm an Apple user, and I want the latest Thunderbolt cable, I have to pay THIRTY SEVEN DOLLARS.

Can the iphone 6 or any phone do split screen?

Like... watching a twitch stream and browsing gaf at the same time.

My LG G3 can, other phones probably can as well, although personally I think a bigger screen's better for that (like a tablet or desktop).

This takes me back to the good old fights of SNES and Sega Genesis. Let the battles continue.

I have an S4 and it's given me enough problems that I'm considering an iPhone for my next phone and I generally dislike Apple software (the hardware is good). Interesting to see the pros and cons of Droid phones vs Apple phones.

Are there no 3rd party solutions? Pretty sure there are.

Apple's phones don't use thunderbolt. MFi-certified lightning cables cost about $13 on monoprice. They are more expensive but not by 10x the price of USB.

The reloading of Safari tabs annoys me, but didn't somebody do a speedtest switching between multiple apps on the iPhone, One M8 and Galaxy S5 a few months ago? iPhone was the fastest at it while the S4 reloaded almost every single app despite having 2GB of RAM. So it's not exactly comparable in that respect.

Apparently literacy is hard, too. I clearly stated what my prediction is.

Samsung is more than doubling Apple is market share each quarter in 2014. Those are those facts, and my office reflects that.

My prediction is that, among professionals (which my office is made of) the trend away from Apple will continue at the same advanced rate. Now, their children? Sure. Teenagers with daddy's credit cards love Apple, and they'll remain loyal. I don't care about children, though.

The thing is that, if this were the SNES vs Genesis battle, it'd be 1996 by now. Most sane people have grown up and realized they are both great platforms, and anyone foaming at the mouth over one platform or the other looks like a spaz still stuck on the playground in 1991.

Yeah cords are stupid from Apple, but at least 3rd parties will help you not have to pay their boosted prices.

The true benefit in cords is that Apples shit is proprietary, while everyone else in the tech world uses the standard. Meaning you don't even need to buy a cord at all, because since every other piece of tech in the world uses the standard, you probably already own 8, and even if you don't; whoevers house/office you are visiting will own a few anyway.

You know what else is entertaining? Samsung more than doubling Apple's sales each quarter, when Samsung is just one of several top-tier Android providers.

The entire world is moving on from Apple products as the public becomes more technologically literate and capable of understanding basic differences between products. The market of people willing to pay hundreds of dollars more for technologically inferior products is dwindling rapidly.

Yeah but EU regulation will force the iPhone 7 or 8 to use the USB standard anyway.

Would be weird and pretty much insulting to the rest of the world if Apple decided to still have Lightning in places where there is no regulation.

EDIT: Lightning connector, fixed.

That's a USB/Thunderbolt. It costs less because half of it isn't a garbage Apple peripheral. It's still twice as expensive as a fully USB option.

Try again, lol

But you actually use a Lightning to USB cable on an iPhone, as has already been said.

To be honest, I can absolutely believe hardly anyone in your office uses an iPhone anymore, if only so they can get their phone out to reply to a text without you flipping your fucking lid.

Hahaha, I can't believe people can be so salty about products they don't own. 😂

Poor Apple :(

You said USB/charging, which is the Lightning cable. Thunderbolt is for monitors, hard drives, and other accessories.

No, I know exactly what I said. I said data and charging.

You just thought you could make an easy point by grabbing a half USB peripheral, which was ironic because it was still TWICE as expensive.
