That slap sounded like a bolt of lightning, wow. That being said, I found the entire situation to be very saddening. I don't like seeing people harassed and treat badly.

So glad i moved out of NYC.

She deserved everything she got and then some.

Way too common of an occurrence.

Too many ratchet ass chick willingly put themselves in an easily avoidable situation where they runnin off at the mouth cuz they think they can.

Well she didn't need to get slapped back.
she didn't need to hit him

I agree with her this time. But let's not forget that Whoopi has said some crazy things in the past, as some others here have pointed out.

Jay Camel has the right to defend himself from his sister in law attacking him in an elevator. But as a man, of his size, compared to her, he has to be aware of how his physical reaction to the incident would be taken.

How is that relevant to the current situation? He didn't attack her first.

What she says isn't in a vacuum. When someone says a person needed to be hit and their past is littered with the gems I posted, it makes me question what kind of person they are.

is a goddamn bear
Although I'm not really comfortable with the difference in size here, this girl was wrong and someone retaliated against her. People should keep their hands to themselves and while this kinda bothers me, she got what was coming. Not all men will sit back and allow a girl to pummel them, and they shouldn't have to.

Hopefully she will keep her hands to herself from now on.

When are the short midgets going to realize you don't jump a tall, lanky guy who has a significant reach advantage over you?

Dude got wrecked.

Dude, she was making fun of his jacket and his lisp calling him 'retarded' and then with his back turned she tried to hit him with her stiletto shoe causing scrapes and cuts.

I wish it was more than just a 'slap'.

if he was smaller, then it would be ok by you?

Like i said, i PERSONALLY wouldn't have done it, but i don't blame him or think less of him for doing so.

As i mentioned, the slap was a much better option than a simple punch given the fact of the physical damage it would have done, which would have turned public opinion against him due to the fact of...the obvious.

but i don't blame him for his response. it was justified.

By this logic, a woman of smaller stature has no business initiating physical violence against a man who, solely based on his stature, could knock her into next week

I'm 6'2 240lb man with a broad muscular build. People ask me all the time if i played football in college and i've never played football outside of backyard sports in my youth. Because I'm a big guy I'll be damned if that's a free ticket for someone to hit me. If anything it's more of a reason for a smaller person to know better

Still not buying it. I wouldn't a woman for the same reason I wouldn't hit a child or elderly person. The lady in that video didn't do anything to justify retaliation. If she pulled a weapon? Sure, disarm her by any means necessary. But I didn't see anything in that video to justify retaliation.

This has been her viewpoint on the matter before

Tbh she's right too in this particular case.

It's horrible to hit a woman but she just smacked the shit out of him with the purse

How can she slap?

commish

Jason Kidd murdered my dog in cold blood!
I've seen crazier things on the subway here. This isn't the least bit surprising.

She hit him with a hard bag full of shit. Have you ever felt a clutch?

Oh wait, phoenixdark.

Nevermind

As a taller dude with a less pronounced lisp this hit me hard this morning when I rewatched it with sound. I didn't listen to it last night with sound. Thats really sad :(.

Fixed it for you. I'm sure you didn't mean to do it on purpose but I think its good to speak in genderless terms in cases like these.

The woman in that video is not a child nor is she elderly. What world is it ok for a woman, or any able bodied individual in general, to hit someone under the assumption that they won't/can't/shouldn't get hit back?

That man did nothing to escalate that situation to physical violence. In fact, as far as i can tell he was walking away and she hit him in the back of the head. That doesn't justify retaliation?

Thank god the rest of the panel agreed. Violence is never the answer... unless they hit you first.

What the hell is wrong with that subway group? They should be embarrassed to be seen with that type of friend.

I think it's kind of sexist to view women like that. Kind of like saying women shouldn't serve in the military (or do anything physically taxing) because they're comparable to children or old folk.

I mean that is a really patronizing thought.

No one needs to be harmed unless he/she a direct danger to others, but I think the dude was aware of that considering the great amount of restrain he should when dealing with her and the nice guy that tried to intervene.

I'm not mad at all that dude recalibrated her thoughts with that slap , she shouldn't have assaulted him.

Had he decked her with a closed fist I'd look at it much different

Just seeing if it works if you insert the word man in the same sentence. Don't feel right. Sounds like if it was a man who hit the very tall guy with a purse, the smack would be justified. That just doesn't sound right. What if it was a gay guy or a drag queen, a transgendered (wo)man? That's quite a slippery slope you put yourself in.

How about we don't assault each other, verbally or physically and mind our business?

I wouldn't have looked at him different. I think the slap was the most appropriate response but had he opted for a fist I couldn't even be angry. She and her pals were bullying and physically harassing him (He has a speech impediment for goodness sake) and other passengers ... I have no sympathy for bullies.

Did anyone else find it weird Ashanti(that's ashanti right? pretty sure) suggest Pena looked slow/mentally challenged?

4 page thread incoming before it gets locked
FTFY

I feel like there is not much left needed to be said, he was under a very stressful situation where he clearly couldn't think things through, before the slap she was the one in control of the whole situation, she could've avoided any escalation of the mess she had just created, but instead decided to smash her pointy heel into the man head that only got her a straight ticket to a meeting with a reality slap.

From what i've seen, the woman was the aggressor. And while i don't mind aggressive people getting a beating, i think the dude totally let himself go.
But yes, when you hit someone, being the aggressive asshole you are, you can expect people hitting you back. Especially if they did nothing wrong and are being bullied by you.

Basicly: don't be aggressive. And don't hit people.

He has a speech impediment so it wasn't weird for her to suggest that. She may be wrong but it wasnt completely out of the blue. Not all people with speech impediments are mentally challenged but quite a few mentally challenged individuals have speech impediments.

This is like the 3rd or 4th thread covering this. The last few were pretty entertaining.

Poor guy can't his wear jacket anymore.

“I love this jacket,” Peña said. “But I don’t think I can wear it anymore.
“People will just know me because of it and what happened.”

you sound pretty naive.. Honestly you're doing her a favor by slapping her. Trust me, this girl doesn't want to be the state she's in, and i think it's why a lot of women push their men so that the guy can put his foot down and take out of her of this uncomfortable and anxious state she is in.
