'The View' Co-Hosts On NYC Subway Brawl Video: 'She Needed To Get Slapped Back'

Still not buying it. I wouldn't a woman for the same reason I wouldn't hit a child or elderly person. The lady in that video didn't do anything to justify retaliation. If she pulled a weapon? Sure, disarm her by any means necessary. But I didn't see anything in that video to justify retaliation.

I don't see a woman getting slapped in this video, I see an asshole that had what was coming to them. She got lucky that it was only a slap because a punch would have probably killed her. And she struck him with a weapon, heels are no joke.

Oh wow, a bag of stuff? That totally changes everything!

No. That's some weak ass shit, excuse wise.

The video, which has been viewed more than 3.8 million times since it was posted Nov. 8, showed authorities that the apparently drunk straphanger, Shanique Campbell, poked fun at Pena’s jacket and his slight speech impediment before using her 6-inch stiletto as a weapon — hitting Pena behind the left ear and on his face.

Regardless of what happened all women arent little tiny innocent angels who could never harm a fly. Women can maim, injure or kill people. Shocker, they are humans! Just like men! She could have easily taken his eye out. Slapping her was a mild response comparatively to what she did. Do yourself a favor and stop looking at women like babies.

Dudes
Its PD

Are we getting trolled? I thought PD was fairly consistent with this sort of view. Maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

The full video. Dude probably went a little over board, but those girls were out of control.

Dude, went a little overboard?! WTF? Go to :58, watch and listen. She takes off her slutty stiletto ready to attack him the second he turns his back.

"You sound stupid"
"You sound stupid"
*hits him with a fucking stiletto shoe*

And the "dude" went overboard? Holy fuck, I would have punched that trashy bitch. I can't believe his restraint.

EDIT: Never mind.

He did punch her. Repeatedly. After the slap he goes into full blown fight mode, which was overboard. Towards the end he finally just bear hugs her and over powers her, which is what I would've done (and have done in the past). I grew up with an older sister who would get pretty physical. We fought a lot, she usually won when I was just a little kid and she was a lot bigger than me. Once I grew up though, and could easily over power her, I would either bear hug her or just grab her flailing arms and push her away or something.

You're confusing her with the dude who attacked him after he hit her.

That's the guy that came to her aid. She just got slapped, dude jumps in and gets owned.

edit: beaten.

He was holding back. It was a fight, yes. And saying a fight with your sister is even remotely the same as this situation is a terrible analogy. In no way are they related except for the gender involved.

He had more than just her on him also, he was just swinging because he probably had no idea what cut him in the back of the head. Plus, most of the wild punches were at some dude that jumped up to defend the dumb bitch.

I don't think I'd ever frame it as "she need to get slapped", but I certainly don't hold it against the guy for responding the way he did and I'm glad he's on the right side of the law. He was verbally abused, berated, and then physically attacked by an adult. It should be as simple as that.

anyone defending the girl is either naive or too delusional, she harassed, insulted and assaults the guy towards the end and he is supposed to just walk away? aren't we all supposed to think of each other as equal? if that`s the case then the moment she hit the guy with her cheap payless shoes was the moment she should have expect a reaction back.

If I were in that guy's position, I wouldn't have hit her.....but she definitely deserved that. Some people need to be checked. Heckling and harassing someone nonstop, and then you make it physical? OK.

She had it coming. And I like how most of the panel agrees (but I already knew what Whoopi was going to say, lol)

Just seeing if it works if you insert the word man in the same sentence. Don't feel right. Sounds like if it was a man who hit the very tall guy with a purse, the smack would be justified. That just doesn't sound right. What if it was a gay guy or a drag queen, a transgendered (wo)man? That's quite a slippery slope you put yourself in.

How about we don't assault each other, verbally or physically and mind our business?

I get the point that you're trying to make...I really do but...
It's kind of offensive to say "transgendered" (transgender doesn't need an "ed") and it's also offensive to suggest/imply that trans women aren't women (As you're doing by writing "(wo)man" like that)
Also not all gay men are thin, effeminate, or crossdressers.

I'm not suggesting that you were intentionally trying to be mean/ignorant, but your point would work better if it was stated like this, "what if the girl was a small-sized drag queen or male to female crossdresser?"
:/

So you are generalizing women, denying them capability of self-defense by equating them to children and elderly individuals?

Now that, is slightly sexist.

Slightly?

Really? Yall are giving this guy shit because he says he respects women too much to hit them back? He affords them the same kind of respect as he would an elderly person or a child? Really, you would give him shit for that? How is showing women that kind of respect generalizing them or singling them out? How is it "denying them capability of self-defense" or justifying attacking another group?

Seriously.

Saying that you would give women the same respect as a child or elder implies that women need to be protected and are incapable of self defense. As if they are fragile creatures and a grown woman isn't capable of dealing a considerable amount of damage.

I certainly can't feel any sympathy for her, I know that much. She started it, he finished it. Could've ended much worse for her.

Yup I didn't like those remarks either. I don't know if it was racist (it could have been though).
Of course it could, if you're desperately reaching.

"slutty stiletto"

"trashy bitch"

Maybe not racist, but definitely derogatory.

Lmao what? Those are insulting terms about an individual I think is a bitch and I thought the shoes were slutty.

I assume the following are "racist" also:

Fucking asshole
Dipshit douchebag
Annoying ho

I mean, what the hell? Where and how does race come into those? You need stretch Armstrong type levels of reach to come to that conclusion.

Um, no it isn't. It's saying that he respects women too much to react violently with them. It's not belittling their own ability to react in self defense in anyway. It's not saying they're fragile creatures, it's saying "I respect women too much to react in violence."

I get where you're coming from, you wouldn't hit a child or elderly person because they are defenseless. So I get the connection. But that connection isn't to be made here, at least not how I read it.

If anything, it's a poor choice of words for his groupings.

Saying you wouldn't react in kind to a specific group means you are not treating them equally. I don't think "respect" has anything to really do with it. Whether intentional or not he made the comparison to eldery and children, implying weakness.

That's how I read it at least. Respect is earned, male or female. This woman did not earn it.

I see no reason that her gender should give her a free pass to commit physical assault without fear of the victim counterattacking and defending themselves.
