The Blockbuster list is bullshit. Shield Pose was a little tech demo at E3, not something you'd make a retail game out of for a console. Ghost Recon Online is an online-only title ($10 download last we heard) and won't exist in disc form.

I don't see where Sony's gonna scrape up the money to make a beefy PS4.

Unless the specs have been locked in for a long while, that is.

Oh goodness no.. I suspect that they'll go with another heavy loss leader model once again.

No, I meant not in price but in manufacturing costs.

Look Nintendo has telegraphed their system will cost at least $250, and maybe as high $350. I wonder how its possible to make a competing system that's more capable by multitudes without also costing several fold more to produce.

I'm going into E3 with the expectations that Wii U isn't any more powerful in any real meaningful way than both the 360 and PS3. So, I mean, I really don't expect to see much or any difference on the TV screen with a Wii U title compared to a title on PS360. Actually, I'll be very very VERY pleasantly surprised if I see anything that surpasses, even slightly, that of the best of what PS360 has given us the last several years.

I think this is a pretty reasonable mindset to have considering what little we might or might not know of Wii U's specs. And the fact that, us, having balanced this hopeful notion that we're going to see software on Wii U that will be above and/or beyond what's already out there, we won't be susceptible to having these dreams dashed, sucking us down into a spiral of glorious internal meltdowns that would manifest itself as posts on this forum predicting the downfall of Nintendo and cancellations of our pre-orders, and bitter tears. Entertaining, but also annoying and unnecessary.

Ergo, lowered expectations = less chance of unhappiness.

Same for me. Hopefully they reveal games I want at E3.

This is why I'm not too sure I want a Wii U at launch. If they launch with these two titles then I would have to hold off until I see something I really want.
So are you one of those that will refuse to buy third-party games because they're not Nintendo?

Ahh, gotcha.

From what I've read around here, a good number of folks would expect the Wii U to sell at or near a break-even price point. Popular predicted prices for the U are from $250 to $350, which would have (4 x PS720) at $1000 to $1400.

So I doubt it'll cost 4x what the Wii U will cost to manufacture.
(maybe someone with more technical know-how can comment on this? I admit that I can be pretty ignorant on this end..)

{edit: you're giving me great ideas for questions on the next Speculation Thread's survey!}

Even if it's real, that list is pretty boring. Mostly already confirmed titles.

Gotta throw a Mario Universe in there or something!

Pikmin yep, absolutely. Mario too probably. Killer Freaks will hopefully be good run-and-gun fun (it's by the Rabbids Go Home Team team I think, and I liked that). Everything else is either a maybe in terms of getting it specifically on the Wii U, an unknown, or a no because I'll get it on PC instead.

Lol what? How'd you get that from my post? I own a 360 with over 50 third party titles and a PS3 with 15-20 third party titles. I have more third party titles on the Wii than Nintendo games I think...

Why would I want to buy games I can buy for my 360 or PS3? They have to do more to convince me to get a Wii U than third party ports.

My sentiments exactly except I'll probably end up getting third party ports on my 360.

Can anyone give me summary of last 20-30 pages of Wii Spec V, please. I noticed some people mention that someone said that it would be full leap so please clarify.

Are you kidding me? No offense but I really hope Nintendo isn't organizing their launch based on people who don't care to play Mario and Pikmin day one.

I'm in the same line of thinking.

Nintendo working on a system with even 360's current capability is world's apart from everything we've ever seen from them.

I hope they aren't either. I just said I would like something that, at least, appeals to me. What's so hard to understand about that? I just want something more. I don't care what they release as long as they have something that appeals to me. Whether it's from Nintendo or third party, I don't care. So far I have yet to see that.

If Nintendo launches with Mario and Pikmin, that's a pretty amazing first-party coupling, despite how ordinary NSMB:Mii looks to the naked eye.

Not much new.

Only one real concrete development as far as I can tell:
- one source says that the Wii U's controller's slider pads might be clicky like clicky sticks found on other console manufacturers' controllers

We were talking about console power.. yet again. The general consensus still seems to be that the U will be somewhere between "on par" with PS360 and a few times the power of PS360 (2x? 3x?). So nothing has really changed on that front.

Over the last few pages, some discussion was had about the leap that PS720 will take, with some concluding that the gap between Wii U and PS720 will be nowhere as big as the gap between Wii and PS360. Kinda encouraging.

I really want to play Arkham City on Wii U, but I'd pay around $35 not $60.
I hope that developers looking to RE4: Wii Edition's performance for encouragement note that it was priced very nicely - at $30.

Also: ~708 hours remain. Hooray!

If it's Arkham City GOTY version for Wii U then I think it might be worth for the money. I think GOTY usually sell for 40 dollars or am I wrong?

But by then it will be Arkham City: GOLY, the "Game of Last Year" edition?

Yeah well, you realize that you could have said the same thing in 2006 if Nintendo decided to go with a traditional upgrade over Gamecube.

Just asking, because you said you'd hold off buying the console if Nintendo launched with those 2 titles.

Hmmm, here's an interesting speculation for the crowd; does anyone expect this year's GOTY to be on Wii U?

Ah sorry about that. It's just I'm not a fan of Pikmin and I've had enough of Mario after Super Mario 3D Land. I need time off from Mario. I have nothing against the two titles. I'm only hoping Nintendo or any third party dev shows off something that will peak my interest.

Hmm.. way too early to know, since so much is under wraps right now.

If forced to guess? Probably not. But then again, I have no clue what many of Nintendo's studios have been doing over the past two years. They could have something incredible in the oven for all I know. Maybe there's a GOTY candidate that they'll unleash upon us at E3?

This never actually works, you know. You're subconsciously hoping for more, and as a result it actually makes it harder to be satisfied. If you expect more, you're going to look for more where you can't see it and you might be able to compromise. However, lowered expectations means that you don't expect better, so if you don't see better right away you automatically accept that it's not good, and it can actually end up seeing worse than it really is. If you don't understand, the reactions to the Zelda demo say it all. Nintendo fans drooled over the demo because they wanted to be amazed and expected to be, while most other people expected Wii U to be weak and were far more critical of the demo.

It's the half-empty vs half-full principle. Skepticism means you see things as they are, while optimism means you see things as you want them to be.

Speaking of 1080, that end segment of the Bird demo with the hawk hopping through the snow makes me wonder at how gorgeous a sequel on Wii U could look.

Makes sense now. But I personally never take a vacation from Mario. :p

New Bioshock could be the GOTY and there is an outside chance it could be on Wii U.

Speaking of NST... what the hell are they up to? According to their Wikipedia article their last game was Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem.

I think they're inheriting Donkey Kong. Retro is probably moved on, but that IP is to valuable to shelve.

They recently hired Hirokazu Yasuhara, co-creator of Sonic.

Has anyone bothered to call them up and ask?
