Enought Ubi stuff, Square needs to give us a Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles with Online Play, a real Character Creation mode and 3DS connectivity for Local Multiplayer. And I will have a ready body.

Sorry GPW. Like Shady said Atari doesn't count. If they had been able to make succeeding consoles that would be another story.

Ain't it great?

I think bg just gave us the antidote to all of that unnecessary doom'n'gloom we've been belching-out over the past few days. Feels fantastic, man. Can't wait to see some games! Hell, I'm ready to see their on-stage demos of that pad and get some good laughs along the way.

I think it's almost time to start my pre-E3 spring cleaning..

Thanks for the earlier compliments guys.

But yeah, it's time to weed out the unnecessary gloom now that we are within three weeks of conference. We have a pretty good idea of what Wii U can do, so lets start getting excited about it.

If this trailer had people hyped, I know you all can't wait to see the Wii U version.

There will be more random E3 hype posts till the conference.

Part of me wants NPC Pikmin, but another part of me wonders if we'll ever see an HD Wii U version. One tempting thing? It'd be on Wii,so I could use BC to play it.. unlike the GameCube version I own.
well if they were going to put an HD version up any time soon near the Wii U's launch I don't think they would have decided to release NPC Pikmin. It always takes Nintendo awhile to release anything decent on their virtual console service anyway :/

This is why I'm not getting Wind Waker again to show my 5-year old. I have a feeling they release a DD version on the Wii U.

I'll be picking up NPC Pikmin 1 and 2--I never played either.

I thought I would do a compilation of every quote I could find about the Wii U's graphics....

Shigeru Miyamoto - June 21, 2011

“We’re very sensitive, of course, to trying to do all of this at an appropriate price. So I don’t know that we would be able to sit here and say that it’s going to necessarily dramatically outperform the systems that are out now. It’s part of the balance that we strike in terms of trying to find entertainment that is new and unique.”

Listening closer to that:

"So I don’t know that we would be able to sit here and say that it’s going to necessarily dramatically outperform the systems that are out now...."

Keep hope alive, Nintendo people.

They did the same thing when they revealed the Kinect with Le Circque du Soleil stuff.

I guess they'll do the same with the next Xbox too.

I'm listening to the Ubisoft conference call right now. I've passed the part where they claim 5 casual games for the WiiU (about 27 minutes in), but the "two core games" was not a part of that statement. Also, they seem to separate games into categories of "core", "casual", and "online." Still listening... damn is it hard to understand.

Which is why don't expect a new Xbox at e3...
Microsoft enjoys making a speculate out of it.
Having the world to themselves.

It makes you feel bad for game journalists. As cool as their jobs can be, at least we have a choice not to endure watching some of these horrible conferences in person.

We seriously need to stop using these terms. They're vague and often have contradictory meanings. Publishers should just specifically cite the genre of the game.

"We have an exercise game, a dance game, a platformer, and thirty online first-person shooters" ← see, was that really hard?

Speaking of boxart, do publishers not realize how much of it sucks ? It's baffling. One would think that making good boxart would be a piece of cake yet it is one of the most challenging things for game companies to do. I don't get it.

See you guys in five years when we huddle together praying and hoping that nintendo gets everything right. Maybe developers want the industry to progress to fast. It's not fair for everyone to expect these companies to take huge losses. In the face of that is nintendo saying fuck no and doing their own thing. That said, I can't live without their games and for good or for bad, I'm gonna get a WiiU and likely on day one. Nintendo still is the king of games and when they learn all that there is to learn in this industry and when they get in sync with the times and open up a little I'll be a happy man. Baby steps i guess.

With a name like Wii U, you can count on Nintendo screwing up something with the console! Of course, every system has its share of issues. We can only imagine what they'll be and how console manufacturers screwed it up. We also think that companies always learn from their mistakes or that they cannot do any wrong when they do something hugely successful. Guess we're the ones who need to put our heads on straight and remember that companies are run by humans.

Most box arts are "bad" to catch people's attention. It's weird and stupid, but it works (usually).

but there's also 3D mario game which will look omgwtf, and Metroid, and moooore.

And to think the wiiU is stronger than the console that output THAT.

E3 needs to come already because they're going to show Mario in HD. I can't see why they would not show a 3D Mario title. I don't care if it's coming out in five years, I just need to see it.

Boxart generally goes through marketing and even ESRB before it's finalized.

I've heard that Take Two lets their developers design their own boxarts, excepting ESRB approval.

One (possibly apocryphal) story is that the original Borderlands boxart was showing an actual gun and the dude actually blowing his brains out graphically. Then when the ESRB said no, they offered the boxart they had actually intended to use the entire time and they agreed because it was so much calmer in comparison.

I need volunteers.

Try to think of something that you might or might not do during E3. (Or something that will happen to you or not.)

I'm pretty sure if I don't see ED2 or the Retro game I'd go insane (I'll have some interesting things to say, which hopefully won't result in banning)

About 39 minutes in they get a question about WiiU. This is were they say 5 casual and 2 core games. Again, its really hard to understand... broken english, thick accents and stuttering. Here's what they say about WiiU:

-They are "extremely happy" with the console.

-The tablet brings "totally new gameplay" and "social functionality" including working 'simultaneous' (I'm not sure of word he was trying to say) with friends, receiving new challenges and communication. He rambles on and summarized his thoughts as it will bring "new games, with good functionality and very good internet usage."

-They say they think the system can be successful at bringing together core and casual gamers.

-7 games for WiiU this year. 5 causal game, one of which is exclusive. 2 core games, one being AC3, the other is exclusive. "Just Dance" brand and Avengers were mentioned earlier in the call for WiiU.

-They've emphasized multiple times during the call the importance of the WiiU as part of their business model... particularly with casual/social gaming.

Other tidbits:
-AC3 is on track to be the biggest launch in company history. Pre-orders in the US are already at a record high.
-They believe the biggest features for next gen consoles will new features that bring the "social revolution" to console.
- Ghost Recon Online is described as a "stepping stone" between the shooter market and online market.
-They are projecting a marginal drop in their casual sales, but note that they did this last year and their sales grew.
-There is a game from "an unannounced major franchise" planned for release in their fiscal Q4 that is not a part of their guidance. They will announce it a E3.

I'm calling the core game to be Killer Freaks and Rayman Legends to be one of the "casual" titles since that's what they're pushing for.

You're not answering the second part of the question, people! I won't add you if you don't give me one! And it needs to be clear!

So Killer Freaks is the other core title.
I guess Ghost Recon Online is in 2013.

Wonder what the exclusive "Casual" title is. Smart money would say another Rabbids game but who knows

Hmmm.
