GAF! In a bind! Which version? I already own the PC version and downloaded the EE. The 360 version is calling me for some unknown reason! I think it's for the physical box and map and stuff. :(

I know I'm going to end up double dipping. They deserve the money anyway. Dammit!

The PC EE is available in boxed form as well, so I'd recommend you get that if you feel so inclined.

Witcher folks, I played the first 2 hours of Witcher 1 last week just to get a peek at the first game. Where is the best place to go to read the entire plot to prepare for the 360 Witcher 2?

Just Wikipedia?

Im going to quote myself again.

If you want some story background, read/watch these:

Plot summary
Ending CG cutscene that sets up The Witcher 2

Info on Geralt:
-Geralt character bio - read the beginning, the biography, the "In the Witcher computer game" section and the Journal entry right after The Witcher 1 info.
-This cutscene shows the striga battle they talk about in the Journal entry

Others (Only read the beginning, The Witcher 1 stuff, and The Witcher 1 Journal entries for these)
-Triss
-Dandelion
-Zoltan

None of that is required but it can be handy to know some of the background since they all appear in both games. Theres also a short story called "The Bounds of Reason" that has quite a few characters and plot points that directly tie into the story of The Witcher 2. I have the translation somewhere but Im at work and cant post it. Theres a summary of it HERE.

These videos too:

I can't put my finger on it but the game seems to not look as good as I remember it. I need to get more into the main game before jumping to conclusions.

I jumped in last night just to start up a new game on Dark Mode playing the Iorveth path and I felt the same way. The scene at the beginning where the two guards whale on Geralt struck me especially. Textures looked really flat and lacking detail. May just be my memory playing tricks on me, though. Got into Faltest's camp in the beginning and, yeah, that shit still looks pretty damn good. Having upgraded my rig since playing it the first time it was nice to run around that area at mostly stable 60 fps, too.

Question for the 360 users.

On PC if you use a 360 controller you hold the L trigger to pull up a menu that lets you select between your spells and quickslotted items. I'm assuming this is the same on the 360 version.

When you pull the trigger it always has the center option selected first, meditate. And then to select a spell for example you have to press to the left and then up and down the spell list.

My question is this... on the PC version when you bring up that menu and let's say you want to select a spell you have to press left TWICE to get over into the spell list, the first press doesn't register. Do you have to press left twice on the 360 version or does the first press register?

It's the same with picking a quickslotted item, to get from meditate to their list it takes two presses to the right, the first press doesn't register at all.

Very minor but very annoying.

Am I crazy or was The Witcher 2 39.99$ last week on GOG?

It probably was. One of the reasons they create Enhanced Editions is to get the hype back up in order to sell it a premium price again. It's 15% off for the next couple weeks so you may as well buy it at $42.99, since it's gonna go back up to $49.99 again.

So for PC the general consensus is to turn off bloom? I've been playing up to the beginning of Act II with bloom on and it's a bit overdone.

I got my Dark Edition today and I start playing it. But I aborted the beginning. Not that I dislike the game. I want to enjoy it with 5.1 which I won't have until mid summer. Is it wrong of me to hold the game?

Says $19.99 here for me (on their own website).
Warner Bros./Namco Bandai are going to publish the game as Enhanced Edition on the PC too. I think that it's the version for $49.(It should come with the OST + Guide book too.)

Bloom off. I also turn off gameplay DOF (I keep cinematic DOF on) but that is more of a preference thing. I think both settings are way over done. I wish they would have either toned them down or gave off/min/med/max settings because I think those effects could have really added to the game but not in their current state.

Exactly what I do. I also have SSAO on even though it will cost you some fps. The game just looks nicer with it.

This is the first RPG, actually first game of any kind over 10 hours a playthrough that I plan to replay....

Absolutely love it. Worst part of the game by far for me is the uneven difficulty. Mostly too hard initially then too easy after (exception at the very end).

Maybe the game is just better done than Skyrim, but I feel converted to a more guided story line...I felt so much more impetus to keep playing and the story arc was cohesive.

Massive free content and the other consumer friendly actions by the devs just put icing on this cake.

I don't mind the gameplay DOF. But I did turn off bloom and it looks SO much better. :) Thanks for the tip. Too bad we don't get the lighting changes from 360. Maybe in a later patch?

You know whats funny is i feel the same way. I own it on the PC but the 360 version is calling me for some reason. I think its because I'm more inclined to play through it on my couch then in my computer room.

Loving this, think I'm nearing the end of the Prologue,
just escaped from the cell by provoking the guards.

The combat is very unforgiving, and I've died quite a bit, but I'm getting much better at it. Learning to move quickly around the fringes to draw people out and pick off the weakest ones first.

I don't know if anyone still wants one, but Gamestop reopened orders for The Dark Edition- after other retailers mishaps, maybe it's a blessing? Dark Edition

Edit: Ordered. My heart is content, but it'll be more days of waiting!

Hi all,

I've played the PC version since launch. and it's excellent to see that the EE has managed to significantly refine the gameplay elements & Act III. Aside from the installer issue, it's pretty fun thus far. Currently working on a Roche playthrough on Dark difficulty.

Finally after downloading manually the several parts of the installer from GOG I was able to install and play the game. At least in the initial area of the Prologue it seems to be that the lighting is a bit different, and the rest is quite similar. I think the camera is also near when non in combat, and the transition to the meditation menu is faster and smoother. And the combat (after a few tries in the Arena) also seems to be a little bit tweaked, the stamina and blocking mechanic. I'm very curious about the new content in Act 3...

This might be stupid question but can you load your old save from before act III and play with the changes or do you have to start completely new game?

How do i start the damn patching process in steam?
Had my client open for the past 5 hours...the game shows up as Enhanced Edition on the list but when i open de launcher, everything points me to version 2.0, including the readme file.

Also, no files downloaded in the steam download monitor thing.

Dang, this is the game that keeps on giving. So they updated the PC version to have everything the xbox 360 version has?

Yeah, all the content is there.

They also updated the GOG extras with the EE editions. Stuff like the soundtrack and artbook have been updated to reflect any EE changes.

Well I've been playing games all day know and I can safely say that my rig's hardware is 99.99% not the issue.

Still can't figure out how on earth a single game can lead to gpu/driver/OS resets... a game that worked flawlessly before EE.

Target.com says the 49 bucks is the online price only, but the weekly ad says 49, hope I don't run into any bullshit when I go.

I went to my local Target at lunch to pick up some BS, and was shocked to see that they had sold through every last copy they got in.

Where is the hype for this game? I'm blown away. It's not like it's been advertised anywhere.
