Whew, got the Kinslayer's Armor. That actually wasn't too bad. 3 Harpy/Endrega runs outside Loc Muinne made short work of the difference. :)

I hate to ask this, because it ruins the very nature of the game, but (chapter 1 end spoilers)
who is the more interesting person to side with, story wise, Roche or Iorveth? I won't be doing a second run for a while and I want to experience the best store first.

Iorveth's path is more important story-wise to the endgame.

Yay! Finally beat it. Other than that one fight in the Mist, Dark Mode was still pretty manageable. Is there any reason to play through W1 on the Elven path if I want to do the Elven path in W2?

(I did Human both W1 and W2...just curious if there's a reason to replay W1)

Finished a couple days ago and the third act was definitely the weakest, but I'm still excited to run through a second campaign, this time with Iorveth.

Just finished it. Truly amazing game, going to go for a second playtrough immedialtly.
This is how you handle choice in an RPG, wel done.

Is there a way to tweak brightness level in game (xbox 360)?

I saw that option at the start of a new game but now in the video menu there's only a gamma slider.

Having done both (pre-EE or version 2.0),

I thought Iorveth's path provided the more interesting town location, but Roche's path was more interesting overall. That's probably just because I like Roche as a character a lot more.

Thanks for the replies. I started on
Roache's path
. I like it much better so far.

I'm enjoying this game much more than the first, mainly due to the combat and dialogue options.

Started this again and have been having a blast. I never finished it last time when it first released on pc but I have already passed where I left off. I can't quiet tell the difference between the enhanced version and the game i played when it came out. Whatever they did must have done something...I can't put it down.

bah, are there any hints of a price drop soon? Or an Amazon deal of the day? I don't want to buy it almost a month later if it's still at $60 :(

With all the new AA methods around, is the best method for The Witcher 2 the own game AA or some flavor of FXAA / SMAA injector? GTX 580 here.

Also, what are the best settings for this card to balance performance X quality?

This is my first time doing the Iorveth path (already done Roche's), and I'm doing the
"Royal Blood"
quest in Chapter II. So what's the general take on
Stennis
?

I've done the Suspect:Thorak and talked with the servant, but it seems there's no definitive proof on Stennis himself. Am I missing something?
He might have a hand in the poisoning, but I don't think a lyncing is a good way to procede honestly. I'm probably gonna wait for Saskia's judgement...that's probably never going to happen right? :(

You can get his blood without having to lynch him.

I just finished the game, Iorveths path and have a question about the clarification on how the ending can change.
Do all magic users get killed no matter what path you choose? I went with saving Saskia rather than rescuing Triss, if I did the latter how does that change that part?

Can you elaborate?

If you really want to know. Quest spoilers
You get the blood from Henselt. It doesn't really matter who you get it from, because you won't be able to use it until you get the last ingredient, a rose of remembrance

More far reaching Plot spoilers, about the issue
He is guilty. He will get away with it if you don't kill him

I honestly don't remember what you have to do, since this was my second playthrought about 11 months ago. But I know that you can get blood without killing him, I think it was not his blood actually. I did jail his ass though.

Right!
It was Henselt's blood after all.

Thanks. I'm not changing my choice though, I want to see where it leads. So good.

Ha. I was conflicted on the issue as well.

I killed him. Not because I thought it was justice to do it that way. Although it was a justified result, handing him to the mob was wrong. I let them have him because he was a righteous cunt who was guilty

I love how this game (and the first)
have you solve mysteries like a detective. I enjoy the process way more than L.A. Noire.

Also, Geralt is a pretty great character. It's nice that every dialogue choice makes sense for Geralt to say.

The only time I felt I was offered a choice that was out of character was when I was being pressured for my reason for tracking
down Letho. The choice "To clear my reputation" is what I went with even if it felt out of character. I think I chose that because I didn't want to divulge my main reason to the character I was speaking to...

Geralt just doesn't give a shit, yet has a line that he wouldn't cross. A truly apathetic hero.

When you're a sword for hire, your reputation does matter. He'd pretty much be blacklisted out of Temeria and the royal huntsmen (or flaming rose) would take over.

If you save Triss the magic users reform the Conclave and there's no witch hunt. Triss points out the mages responsible so they don't all get the blame.

Funny thing is, in true Witcher fashion
if you let him live he turns out to become a great king that is good for the commoners.

Yeah, the title of the first book should be called Geralt: Bullshit Detector. Most stories involve him getting hired by someone shady, sitting back and watching everything unfold until he figures out what's really going on, then dropping some knowledge bombs before getting the job done.

Just Clocked it after owning it since launch.

My decisions.

Iorveth Path

* Made Aryan surrender
* Lied for Meleena, let her go when i found he
* Saved Trolls (a Witcher tries to reason with an intelligent creature)
* Saved Elven women instead of killing Loredo (got the free screw)
* Sided with the Succubus (and got the free screw)
* Let the mob get Stennis (guy was an arse, and Witchers stay out of politics)
* Went to save Triss over helping Phillipa
* Let Sila die
* Let Sasika (dragon) live
* Let Letho go

I tried acting as neutral as the game would let me and tried not to do vengeful stuff or take political stances. The Price of Neutrality is my favorite chapter in The Last Wish. Also witchers always try and find a cure if there is one and negotiate with intelligent creatures before resorting to violence.

I hate killing
letho but I feel that it's the right thing to do. He feels no remorse when he kills. I can't justify letting him go because then I'm ultimately responsible for whoever he kills.

A decision like that, where I still hate to call it that way, but still feel compelled to see it through is great story telling.

I finished the game.
To put it out straight it's the game I've been most passionate about in the entire generation. I love how mature it is also how well implemented the ideas were. I'm simply in love with the lore characters and mechanics of the game. It came from the game I played because more action RPG is welcomed in my life to one in my top5 this gen. Top 3 even. Make it top 2.

BUT.. the ending was lame like laaaame. I still feel cheated. it feels incomplete so so incomplete. I know this is just the 2nd arc to the big story but perhaps it would have been better if it councluded the contained story on the game in a better way.

Still it's a must buy and no self respecting gamer should let it slip out.

It leaves you wanting more certainly, but I disagree that it doesn't wrap up the story it introduced in the beginning. Your mission was to clear your name. You did that. End of story.

Though it certainly did tease the story for 3. :p

I restarted on one of my earlier saves to remove that invincibility glitch and it showed up again. I first noticed it on that mission where you escort the girl down to he river in the third act.

Yes, exactly. I felt this a lot in the first game in particular. I felt like a badass medieval detective :lol

Ehm.. nope?
The Empire (Nilfgaard?)
was the one who wanted Foltest dead and they "won" at the end so they'd still be catching you to remain clean, or did I get it wrong? o_O

Sort of?

Geralt really just wants to get out of the shit, and clearing his name is probably the easiest way to do it.

Nilfgaard has many plans. They are looking for allies, but they are also looking for chaos. For example- the ambassador is considered a failure because none of his negotiations really worked out. He is trying to set something up with Foltest early. Depending on your choices, he tries to set something up with the La Valettes. He then tries to set something up with Henselt, who has been a bit of a traitor before.

As for chaos- dead Foltest is good. Divided Aedirn is good. Dead Henselt is good. All makes the chances of a succesfull invasion better, and a united North weaker.

The real thrust of their plan, though, was to break the strength of the mages. They lost the last war mostly because of the mages. If you choose anything other than rescuing Triss the Empire "wins." If you rescue Triss, the Nilfgaardian plan fails because their delegation is dead.

But, still, Geralt's own mission is more to clear his name

I'm enjoying this game but it's not nearly as polished as I expected. There's a ton of texture pop in and loading screens, and I hate the way they mixed the surround. There are some scenes where everytime they cut to a new angle the sound of crickets is moving around from channel to channel. That's not immersive at all.

So much Witcher love in this thread. It touches my heart. I'll be playing more today after I get done with some work at the hospital. I'm focusing on Ivoreth path, which I am liking more than Roche's path.

Involving Stannis:
I lynched his ass. He seemed guilty, which I just confirmed to be the case. I also hated him with a passion, so when I had the chance to kill him. I had to take it.

I have got to finish this up. I got sidetracked and left off in Act II. Love the story and setting so far, but the tank controls and having to drink potions and use oils before combat just makes playing it kind of cumbersome. The quick time events here and there are kind of janky as well.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for planning and prep. I am just not finding the gameplay and controls all that great. In short, it's definitely all about the story and environment here for me. Which is really no surprise, considering it is an RPG. So it's par for the course.

I am just at a point to where I want more fluid, action game sort of combat in my role playing games. Gameplay that is filled with 'holy shit' moments, and has plenty of RPG depth as well. Again, not saying the gameplay or design is bad... just that it is not fun for me personally. Mainly in terms of control and having to constantly meditate before battle in order to give yourself a better chance.

I died at some quick time events using the mouse mainly because it was so small I couldn't see whether it was the left or right mouse button I was being prompted to hit...it was pretty annoying at times. They should have done it like the fight QTEs where the button prompt on screen corresponds with the position it's on the keyboard.
